Best/worst FOOD before an away game?

Back when I was a teenager in the dark old days (some may say good old days) my main concern at away games was to not get my head kicked in.

As I got older, the hunt was on for a decent pre match pint.

I must admit nowadays I enjoy the whole day experience by trying to have a bit of nice food and a few pints before I watch a City win.

At Norwich this season, we got in at the Holiday Inn Bar early and managed a decent burger and a few pints at a table (very civilised).

Last season my youngest son and I got in at the Harry Ramsdens fish and chip 'restaurant' before the game at Old Trafford.

But the best has to be against Chelsea in the FA cup a few years ago. A mate in the food industry new a little Italian place near the ground ran by a Chelsea fan he knew. We were welcomed (8 of us) and ate with a few Chelsea fans having a cracking pre match meal with a few Italian beers.

The worst ever was a Hotel (and I use that term very loosely) bar in Hull. Shit beer and I'm not sure what the meat was in the cobs, they said it was a 'Hog Roast' but it didn't resemble any animal I know.

Best/worst experiences folks?

I was at uni in Sheffield and we were playing Scunthorpe away.

Was on the train there was a few Leicester fans on it. We get to Scunthorpe the Leicester fans get off, they are like where's John? Some guy says oh he is having a shit. So he was in the toilet, the train rolls off and he is still on the throne not realising we are in Scunthorpe. Next stop I hear you ask?

EDINBURGH!

Newcastle.

Purchased some chips, and when it came it was as if the whole salt bottle contents they had was put on it.

Much worse than chips at McDonald's, and that's saying something.

I went in there as well and got chatting to a Norwich fan who seemed to know as much aboutNorwich as I do. Evidently one of them who suddenly had time to get a season ticket this year. Nice enough bloke anyway.

The only part about that place that wasn't civilised was the woman on the way in when I opted not to have "4 bottles of Carlsberg for £10" She looked like I'd ran over her dog when I said just one Fosters would be alright lol

And why is FOOD IN CAPITALS?

Pub in Chesterfield was best for food and beer, The Welbeck I believe it was called, tonnes of pubs there though. Any pie at a Lancashire ground is decent as well.

Had an awful pie at the Madejski but that's about all I can remember.
