Palace at home.. Next up..

Palace seem to be a bit of a bogey team for us in recent years... I have a feeling it will be the same on sat 1.2 palace with them scoring from two set pieces, hope I'm wrong

Damien Delaney only 34?

Thought he'd around 37.

He'd around 37 what? Copies of guinness world records? average mpg? roast dinners in a year?

Normally I dont go for pre designated/selected sides chosen from our forum fans, even now I say sit back wait and enjoy the moment to see what team and subs Claudio decides to put out, but yes I would chose this one, we are at home. Lets go for it, throw caution to the wind...

I believe the last few games, when erring on the side of caution, Claudio has come up with his selections, because his thinking maybe, can we last the distance of 90 minutes, plus our players being on International duties, realising we need something still to come off the bench with pace, without upsetting the balance but still giving the opposition something new to think about.

I believe many fans have missed this point, forgetting we could burn ourselves out before December, if we chose all our pacemen to play from the beginning.

If I am thinking right, CPalace have some injuries and suspensions this weekend, so I am saying, let give it 60-70 minutes of gung-ho ATTACKKKK, lets... let rip from the beginnig, just for this game. Then Dodoo as the impact sub with pace.

Then go back to more cautionary selection and use of subs.

I really do believe Claudio has spoken to our top squad players, telling them its not a first 11 choice game, not such a thing as being dropped to the bench.

One problem though, no matter what everybody thinks,...the biggest question as to be, what happens if Vardy gets injured, our whole game seems to be built around him, can a Mahrez step in, or is Claudio playing the % game, with all cards on the table.Basically saying, we will wait until that happens, then see how the wind blows.

Interesting...innit ?

With Gayle suspended they have the options of Campbell, Bamford or Sako.

I personally think they will go with Bolasie up top, Zaha, Puncheon & Sako as the 3 behind and get at us with pace. I'm sure they will see how many problems Wallcotts pace caused us running between Huth & Morgan and look to replicate that.

This game game stands out for me last season during our horrific run. We hammered them first half, and I've never seen Marhez embarrass somebody as much as he did to Kelly, we could of been 3 up at the break easily. At half time Pardrew made a double substitution which helped nullify everything we threw forward. They ended up winning the game 1-0 through a set piece and I thought we were doomed. A real master class from Pardrew and the perfect away performance. Really hoping we can win this one because Palace have been a bogey side of ours in recent years!

Cant wait to concede more goals from set pieces. Yay.

My thoughts too, we looked so fragile from set pieces yesterday and Palace dicked on us in the air last season.

I don't think it'll be the same this year. Jedinak and Ledley haven't been starting, Cabaye and McArthur don't have much of an aerial threat and they don't have a big striker who's fit (Wickham and Chamakh are injured.) They'll have a couple of big CBs - but then most teams do - so they shouldn't be able to dominate us like last season.

They have very few strikers to choose from at the moment so it's probably a good time to play them. Campbell will probably start up front and he's not exactly lethal (watch him score 4 now).

I would like to see us start with the formation that we finished with on Saturday, the 4-2-3-1. It's an attacking formation so the wingers must be prepared to work hard when we don't have the ball.

Kasper

Simpson. Morgan. Huth. Fuchs

Drinkwater. Kante.

Dyer. Mahrez. Albrighton.

Vardy.

I fancy us to nick this one, and as always there will be goals at both ends.

Leicester 2-1 Palace. (Vardy, Dyer)

I haven't been to a game since Bournemouth so I'm pretty excited about this:

Schmeichel

De Laet

Morgan

Huth

Fuchs

Dyer

Drinkwater

Kante

Schlupp

Mahrez

Vardy

Subs: Schwarzer, Benalouane, King, Inler, Okazaki, Ulloa, Albrighton

De Laet in for Simpson makes absolutely no sense and is in no way justified.

I'd like to see Benalouane given a start in place of Morgan. Albrighton, Mahrez, Dyer have to play behind Vardy.

Battle of the counter-attackers.

How does that work?

It usually requires one team to have possession and attack so the other can counter.

Being at home, I suspect we'll fall into the trap of being the former, playing to Palace's strengths and our weaknesses. I'd be much happier being the away team in this match.

Maybe we should just surrender the ball, park the bus and let them attack, giving us something to counter. Not pretty but we'd be more effective and have a better chance of winning.

It makes plenty of sense.

One of them has a conviction for (very recent) violence against a woman. I'd rather we were 2% more vulnerable down the wings than have somebody like that playing for us.

Not to mention that a huge factor in our 2 goals conceded on Saturday was a criminal lack of aerial presence in the back 4.

Another really tough game this one with Pardew the wily old campaigner v our energetic style.

Can again see goals in it and us just to sneak it.

Somebody mentioned the physical battle that we lost last season at their place....very true.

But our midfield is now better than last season imo. It's tougher and stronger.

Feel a 3-2 home win coming on.

Palace a very strong away team with pace, power and a counter attacking style.

They're quite like us, they focus even more on countering and pace if anything.

This is a tough one, do we have a end-to-end shoot out or do we try to control possession a bit more as I reckon we have more quality in CM?

My prediction; leicester 2 - 3 Palace, they have won 10 out of 12 away games or something ridiculous!

They are ridiculously strong at set pieces as well. If we don't take this seriously then we could be in for a frustrating afternoon. Pardew's teams have always done well against us as have Palace, a bit of a bogey team of ours at times. We aren't a tall team but we could look at bringing Ulloa in for Okazaki who is struggling no end. That said I liked the team that finished the game vs Southampton in that formation so it's a tricky one to work out what's best.

Dyer and Mahrez were outstanding at times in that 2nd half.

Apart from Simpson's record as a scumbag, RDL is also quicker then him and better in the air, we will need pace to deal with Palace's counter attacking threat, I would like to see RDL play with a proper winger in front of him who will help him out rather than leave him exposed, I would also be tempted to bring in Benalouane for Huth to give us some extra pace at the back. Mahrez in for Okazaki and maybe Dyer for Schlupp, not sure at the moment Schlupp's pace is a great asset and will help prevent being on the counter, I could even be tempted to put him in at left back.

With Zaha, Puncheon, Bolasie, Sako, Bamford even Campbell they have some serious pace upfront, we have to consider that in our team selection.

I think we're abit reluctant to put Mahrez on the wing, due to his lack of defensive ability. So basically, he's now fighting for one of the two forward positions, with the other four strikers. I'd go with him and Vardy.

(Also, you've got 8 subs Jeff)

Ordinarily I would put Mahrez in the ten role but in a home game in which we need to be the aggressor I'd go with two up top and our most creative (yet sensible) midfield.

As for the 8 subs.....its Monday....and I would remove De Laet from the bench.

Palace and Leicester have the best fans home and away, gonna be a cracking atmosphere. 3-1 to the foxes.

Not a better factual reply posted this week.

What would be great if City fans were the 1st to the post, and show top respect to C.Palace and their fans,

Showing appreciation of each others prowness and style so far in the PL this season.

Then get together to show the rest of the PL a spectacular atmospere, from 2 stylish clubs, who are upsetting

the odds somewhat.

Since when has Inler showed himself to be a good defender? He makes ill-considered, near-suicide passes deep in his own half when simple ones would have much less chance of being intercepted and, too often, he doesn't track the runners with enough urgency - if at all.

So far he's looked far more suited to continental football in warm climates where there's less intensity and where the trend is to make the ball do the running.

I don't say the bloke can't adapt but I've seen no signs of him doing so yet.
