Palace at home.. Next up..

What annoys me is not once have we come out of the blocks and played the second half chasing a game style from the off. Claudio not thought that maybe that might keep us a clean sheet? Rather than setting us up to defend and keep it tight, which were shite at. Basically second half everyone goes we've nothing to lose so we go all out attack with loads of possession and suddenly we've kept a second half clean sheet. Not rocket science, do it from the start!

I think that's a little bit too simplistic. Whilst we kept a clean sheet against Saints second half, I would say they were presented with several good chances that were wasted. From memory I'd say better chances from open play than ones they had first half.

The problem with attacking like that all the time is that you leave yourself very open. I thought we dealt with them no problem first half other than set pieces, so I think we need to give the new backline unit a bit longer together before we change out tactics too much.

This has got 3-3 written all over. We need to be starting the subs that came on vs Southampton. We need all the style we need vs Palace. If we score first and stall like we did against Arsenal we'll get floored once again. We need to stay switched on until the final whistle.

Some people don't realise that a team winning 2-0 at the start of the second half change their game from how they were playing at 0-0 when the game started. It's not as easy as play the team that won the second half 2-0.

Palace are a good side large overall height and decent at set pieces if i remember correctly, seeing how bad we are at defending them I'm a little worried, I think this is a real test for us I know they are just off the back of a home defeat but we are not likely to keep a clean sheet we need to to see us defend better and not concede sloppy goals from corners and freekicks and fumbles.

Hope we can get of to a good start and push on for the win maybe use Ulloa for his height later on if we are under the cosh but i cant really call this one would love to see a win but im thinking another 2-2 or we get battered 0-3 or something honestly it could go any way but I highly doubt it will be comfortable for us

This will be a tough game, Palace are excellent away. Pace is an important part of that, a bit like ourselves.

I know it's not gonna happen, but would really like us to revert to an attacking 3-5-2 for this one to attack from the off and also fit some added height in the team.

I take it you were in a coma for the Sunderland, West Ham and Arsenal games. Even Stoke, Southampton and Norwich were games we made a positive start in.

Worth noting as well that we've played 4 of our last 6 matches away from home and one of the home games was arsenal. Rightly or wrongly teams are almost invariably set up to defend first and foremost.

That you'd find reason to criticise the tactical approach of a manager who's taken us to 5th after 9 games says more about your barmy expectations than it does about any tactical failing on Ranieri's part.

Also Claudio isn't NP don't forget

Zaha took the piss of Simpson back at our place in April so would be tempted to start RDL, although that would be incredibly harsh on Simpson

But simpsons playing better than he did last season, the games  i saw him play last season he was worse player on the pitch, i think hes lacking a bit in confidence he always plays the safe ball

Would like to see Ulloa if only to help our defensive set pieces against a big side, that said I am at a weird stage where I feel that any side we put out could do a job..

Be interesting to see who they line up with up top. After Gayle's suspension (who's nothing special anyway), they have Wickham who has been out for months and even if he starts won't be fully fit, an injured Chamakh, Frazier Campbell who's bang average, Patrick Bamford who did well at Boro but has done nothing at this level and appeared lazy in his brief appearances for them, and Bolasie, who the Palace fans are desperate not to see up front again (if their forum is anything to go by.)

It's a real weakness for them, whereas we have Vardy in electrifying form. Hopefully it will make the difference.

Well, I could do without 45 minutes of pure disappointment and a lack of urgency - if you only look at the majority of our first-half performances.

There's a lot to improve in terms of dictating a game as opposed to chasing the score.

Luckily, Ranieri somehow's managed to fix the issue(s) at half-time more often than not. Good on him.

Inler needs games under his belt and I'm sure at some point one of our central midfielders is bound to hit a rough patch. Enter the Gökhan.

We've seen it with Fuchs - been kept out of the squad for a long time, now he's had the opportunity to show what he's really made of by playing from the start more often - I can see him start again as left-back on Saturday.

I must be seeing different games, relevant to 1st half, city in many games, played ok, even against Soton could of been 2-0 up themselves. We've played some c damn good football at times then caught out by a great move, from the opposition.

If one hadnt noticed, the other team is also allowed to play football and score.

I believe for one, that even the bottom teams have played some good football, too many fans today have got it in their heads that goals conceded means poor football..BULLSH#T...ENJOY THE WHOLE GAME...youve thrown out often 30+ quid, enjoy the football, or is your money better spent, just seeing your team with a boring win.!!!.

Granted there are some cr#p moments, even poor play, being the exception of a few games in the last 2 seasons, including non city games.

I have enjoyed watching the PL.Last season for example it was the foxes who played the poorer games, from the promoted teams, for longer periods, but also had some good games where they lost.

QPR and Burnley played some good football, but were not good enough in picking up the important points.

This season, the promoted teams have played some good football.Watford against Arsenal had their chances, with some top chances, I wouldnt say they played poor.

Chelsea, Liverpool, Sunderland, Villa, Newcastle have been poor in some of their games this season.

Swansea vs Stoke I must admit I didnt enjoy, unusual when Swansea are involved.

I just think there are some fans around the country who just love being miserable, and have a negative make up.

Ulloa injured.

Albrighton, Mahrez, Dyer & Vardy it is then.

i would quite like to see this. either jeff or dyer on the left, dyer probably the better player but not necessarily a left sider.

albrighton - riyad - dyer/schlupp

---------------vardy-------------------

would be superb imo. gets albrighton back on the right where he's a lot better, and he can give de laet help defensively. means nobody can complain that riyad isn't putting in slide tackles in our six yard box, and gives vardy all the service he wants. and look at that pace.

I think this could be close to what we see Saturday, either Dyer/Albrighton on the right, Jeff wide left, gives us flexibility too which all good sides have in the final third.

Kasper

Simpson

Morgan

Huth

Fuchs

Dyer

Drinkwater

Kanté

Schlupp

Mahrez

Vardy

Though Mahrez looked good in behind Vardy at the weekend so would like to see him in the role. Gone for Dyer and Schlupp on the wings for a bit of pace in case Bolasie or Zaha are causing us problems.

Tough game, but no reason we can't win.
