Captain... Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Please forget about Simpson off the field ffs. Shouldn't come into question when comparing ability. He's better than De Laet and hasn't put a foot wrong since coming in. De Laet spends half the game switched off. He hasn't done much wrong, granted, but he offers nothing going forward, which means we lose any chance of a quick break if he wins the ball. Richie epitomises our spirit at the moment, lots of pace, energy, effort with an attacking mentality playing a high risk game, which means challenges higher up the pitch more options going forwards and when things go wrong he has the pace to bomb back and put in a last ditch tackle. It doesn't always work, but I was so sick of Simpson just passing backwards against Palace, it just stopped any forward momentum and any chance of a break and that is what we are good at.
Fox92 Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 I thought Simpson dealt with a quick strong winger really well.
AKCJ Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Simpson hasn't done much wrong but that's not to say that right back should be the tippy top of the transfer targets come Jan.
TJB-fox Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 I definitely want Schlupp back in the first XI, fresh legs after missing the Hull game!
fuchsntf Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 It's not his job to defend. It's his job to create moments of magic which he does most games. If I'm a WBA full back I'd rather face Albrighton than Mahrez who drops his shoulder , goes left goes right etc. It's such an English football mentality to suggest we can't have a flair player who just solely concentrates on attacking. I don't even think he's lazy in defending anyway. It's a myth Now the young boy becomes the man.....Hit it right on the head there...
Brooksy Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Mark Lawrenson thinks we lose again so we'll win
AKCJ Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Mark Lawrenson thinks we lose again so we'll win Shock horror. He's backed us to lose 5 times this season. In his predicted table we're 16th behind Bournemouth and Newcastle with West Brom unbeaten and 5th. He's a clown and a wum.
NewEnglandFox Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Coming off of the first clean sheet of the year and people still want Simpson out. Forget if it's not broken don't fix it, I don't think you're going to fix what's the best we've seen all year.
suffolk fox Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Simpson has played bloody well since he came into the side. Played well against Norwich, Southampton and Crystal Palace. Would rather have him back there than De Laat. He doesn't need to bomb forward if he has either Albrighton or Dyer in front of him. All he has to do is win the ball in the tackle play it forward to one of them. We have looked far more solid at the back since him and Fuchs have come into the side with Schlupp being pushed further forward. Same team as against Palace for me.
sdb Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 RDL was decent Sat but Simpson's done nothing to deserve getting dropped.

Wymsey Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Is Wasilewski really a bad RB than both De Laet and Simpson, to not be considered? The occasional times I've been him play, he seemed decent there.

justfoxes Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Hoping for a nice city win 0-4 win Vardy will get a hatrick

Love to get Wasi back in the team, but he aint no RB.That said in our last seasons run in, he moved over and covered there a few times.Couldnt see him in an attacking flanking move, you never know might have a great cross in him
Dan Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 A few are saying this also, but my one thought its an away game, Albrighton gives us back up in midfield and defence. Dyer would be my man for the home games, but has he the tracking back and holding game in him. He does although maybe not at Albrighton's level, but I'd say he's better going forward than Albrighton. Albrighton played 120 minutes midweek after 90 minutes against Palace, was largely our most involved player at Hull through sheer effort, I'd be up for giving him a rest whilst we have someone just as good waiting in the wings, someone who will probably make them think twice about leaving too much space - not that they wouldn't have done anyway as it's Pulis. I'd give Schlupp a rest. Dyer on the right, Mahrez on the left, Okazaki with Vardy, usual midfield duo and back five.
Dan Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Good teams don't need to worry too much about the opposition. Instead of setting up to nullify a very poor WBA side, why not just set up playing to our own strengths surely? Pretty much this. Can't believe some of the stuff I'm reading in here. Teams like WBA thrive on people thinking they're better than they are. There's a reason they lost a game at home recently after being two up. Look at the way they crumbled in that second half back in April. You'd think we were playing Juventus based on some of the stuff I've read on here.
crisp packet Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Need to assert ourselves early . These will be looking for revenge, after Astle day. 4231 same back four Drinks kante Dyer mahrez shhlupp Vardy 2-1 away win .
ARM1968 Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Lawro keeps going like this we'll win the league.
Sunbury Fox Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 According to whoscored.com West Brom's only strength is winning aerial duels. What a surprise! http://www.whoscored.com/Matches/959619/Show/England-Premier-League-2015-2016-West-Bromwich-Albion-Leicester
Guest Col city fan Posted 29 October 2015 Posted 29 October 2015 Pace! Keep it on the deck and away from their lumbering centre backs. Mark their front two VERY closely..they can be a handful. And get the ball forward quickly. Get Jeff on the left, Dyer on the right. Okazaki in behind Vardy and Drinkwater/Kante running the midfield with snappy tackling and quick passing. We're better than they are. I'm hopeful of a win.
Baggieboy1 Posted 30 October 2015 Posted 30 October 2015 Morning guys. Last time I was on here we was talking about certain sex acts on a trip to Thailand . Anyways moving swiftly on, Just wanted to touch upon the game tomorrow from a baggies perspective. First of I just wanted to say what a compliment your team has been to the league this year and I have enjoyed watching your style of football even if just on MOTD. I think you will have to much for us personally, pace and invention will over run us. If you score the worst you will get is a point as we just don't come back to win at home once conceding ( 3 years almost now in the league at home ). Schlupp tore Dawson a new one last season and your attacking prowl has just grown from then, huge fan of mahrez to. Were we may get something is good old pulis tactics, being physical and well organised with a good work rate and knicking one from a set piece, any result we do get tomorrow would be very surprising certainly to me, but it will come through stifling the game and destroying the flow of it. I will go either 1-0 from a corner or 1-3 to you boys. Enjoy your day out except 3-5 hope the weather picks up.

I have to say I'm feeling confident about this one, in our form it'd be really pessimistic not to. As we all know though there are no easy games in the prem and home advantage is a big factor (not so much this season). Should be a really interesting game with both teams styles being polar opposites. If we start brightly we could do soke real damage but if you get a foothold on the game it could be a very frustrating afternoon. You're spot on about set pieces being a big chance for you to dominate. We really are dreadful at defending them! Agree with your predictions too, we score in the first 25 mins and we'll win 3-1. If it's 0-0 at half time you'll win 1-0 from a Mcauley header All the best
