I have no emotional attachment to this cup, just another excuse to get some more cash out of us. FA cup and the league for me. Great game time for the players needing a run out, and lets not forget how well they did for us up to now, not to mention the youth players making their full début - and scoring.

We didn't do ourselves any shame, now lets ramp this sh*t up for the rest of it.

He played the whole game. However now you ask, I don't remember hearing his name on the radio broadcast.

That was literally the entire joke.

Just got back. We were dogshit.

Inler can't do anything other than pass sideways and even that he's not very good at.

King offered nothing, as did Dodoo, Kramaric and Okazaki.

Back four were ok, Benny looks a decent centre half and after a nervous opening Chilwell didn't do too bad for himself.

Schwarzer was absolute turd.

I don't care that we played a second string, but I do care that we were outran and outfought by an extremely mediocre Hull team. We honestly couldn't be bothered tonight and Hull deserved to win. Poor.

The fact a decent Leicester side with King, Kramaric, Okazaki, Wasilewski, Albrighton, Inler, and 45 minutes with Drinkwater, Mahrez, and Vardy were unable to beat Hull City should suggest that it's unrealistic to beat 3 teams that could just as easily turn us over.

But it isn't decent. Was has hardly played, Kramaric and Okazaki have offered very little threat as strikers since they came here and were never going to get onto crosses against tall defenders, Inler's been a woeful disappointment and Dodoo's learning his trade along with Chilwell (who does seem promising).

There's far too many weaknesses even in that small group. We really have a serious problem trying to keep our shadow players up to scratch because there's no proper football for them.

Against Hull I thought they'd be wound-up and ready to go like dervishes they just didn't have the determination of the first team which is perhaps why most find themselves lingering in second team football.

Yes, there was more to it than that. A team has to have balance and confidence in one another.

Tonight's team didn't have balance and there were too many individual weaknesses as well.

Pretty much exactly as it sounded on the radio. And I agree with your sentiments entirely.

is that funny or serious?

I wouldn't have known he played the full 120 minutes if it wasn't for the announcement at the beginning of the game. I honestly can't remember a single pass.

Can't agree more. The second string is strong on paper but you have to be worried if anything were to happen to Vardy and Mahrez.

I take your point. Still convinced he only got that because he is Pearson's mate. (I'm not a Pearson hater, before that's misinterpreted.)

I can assure you he wasn't a mate of Pearsons..

Not sure why all the Schwarzer hate, not a great game but we didn't lose because of him....

He palmed it into there path for the goal, and looked like he wouldn't have saved a penalty I'd he was there all night. His distribution was also a huge huge problem.

i would proudly call myself a pearsonite, but dont know how anyone could get to that first conclusion, really curious tbh

I went to the game. Schwartzer very poor, king and Inler non existent in midfield. Doodoo very poor out wide. Albrighton good first half with several good crosses but no-one with height and strength to meet them. He then seemed to tire and his crosses were poor as the game went on. Kram and Okazaki tried but didn't complement each other. The others all played OK. Special mentions for Benny and Chilwell and then for Vardy and Drinky who upped the tempo well and we started creating. Our fans were fantastic given that it was our second string on a dull night at a dull stage of a dull competition in dull hull. I did not expect an easy game up there and as such a draw should be an OK result.... If it weren't for the penalties!

I know we made a truck load of changes but didn't Hull make 8? We can claim 2nd string all we like as an excuse but they could claim the same and their depth compared to ours on paper would be chalk and cheese given the gap between Championship and the PL but they still won.

In a Chinese airport hotel

Asleep during the game

Wake up and find a text message that we lost on pens

Onto here immediately to read that losing on pens is the keepers sole responsibility.

I was a keeper once. Had the odd decent shoot out but generally you don't. I don't remember the greatest keeper, shilts, ever doing well in a shoot out.

The team is responsible for not beating hull. Not the goalkeeper.

reading that he threw one in during normal time but not sure that's true. if he did then fair enough but don't blame the keeper for not saving a pen - please.

Well it really doesn't help when he's as old as the hills (in footballing terms anyway) and has the reflexes and mobility of same.

I don't mind Ranieri playing the second string in this competition but why he feels the need to play the old fart instead of one of the youngsters in goal is beyond me. It just seems utterly pointless

The cup was there for the taking this season really, especially with Arsenal gone.

Very disappointing to lose out on Penalties but to play such a dire game beforehand.

Inler again was rubbish. Kramaric off the pace.

Disappointing.

We sounded poor and i'm reluctant to criticise any of those who started last night as that 11 will never, barring a disaster, be starting a PL game for us.

Our second string versus the second 11 of a team sitting second in the division below us at their place. In years gone by we would have took the draw and brought them back for the replay. Instead we had the lottery of penalties.

Disappointed but not devastated.

Hull deserved the win. Played very well and were the better team throughout save for the last 5 minutes of normal time. Should never have gone down last year - they have a decent squad.

Only plus point is that the defence actually did pretty well in the main considering how much pressure Schwarzer continues to put us under with his pathetic distribution (kicks and throws). Chilwell deserves a mention because after a torrid first 15 against a strong opponent in Diame, he settled and got the better of him in the end. Looks really promising. Benny very good imo too.

Everything else was absolute turd. Second string or not it needs to be better than that.

Oh, and if you sang 'you're ****ing shit' to the tune of 'everiwherwegoooooo' you need to never come back. Forgetting any jinx stuff, it's an absolutely embarrassingly juvenile song.

If we are to take any positives it can only be that now CR has a better understanding of the attributes and potential of the players who aren't starting every week and can take that forward into planning how to strengthen the squad.  I'm disappointed in the result but I'll be even more disappointed if we don't learn from that and act accordingly.  I'd have loved to see City at Wembley but for now I'd settle for building a squad that can at least hold a comfortable mid-table position through its all-round strength.  At present we're quite dependent upon a few key players for our success.

I can only presume anyone who doesn't care or is even happy about us going out doesn't remember the MON years? Trips to Wembley and European trips are fantastic things to do.

Really shouldn't need to say this but being a football fan should be about winning trophies, not increasing the bank balance of owners or shareholders.

Hope we never qualify for the Champions league, no point if we can't manage two games a week.
