hull post match (5-4 pens) 1-1 aet

Yeah, man. So ****ed up to give your 2nd string keeper some match time, especially since Kasper has never gotten injured before.

100% his fault in hull's goal and then not abale to just stop 1 pen.

crap.

what a nightmare is this, not able to accept it tbh.

it takes a 5-0 win next game to forget this chance of trophy wasted.

and watch, hull will play sheiffield at home on next round

grhhhhhhhhhhhh....

You still have to win in the QF, SF and F against the likes of possibly Liverpool, Man City, and Man U. It's doable and certainly achievable, doesn't stop it being unrealistic.

If you drew Liverpool, Man City followed by Man U then yes, I'd say winning is unrealistic.  Pretty sure the odds of getting those three one after the other will be pretty high with 8 teams in it and still four games tomorrow.  In terms of probabilities you'll get one of those, perhaps two.  Also two of those are likely to draw each other at some point before the final and there's one out already.  It's by no means a guaranteed trophy but it's very realistic in the quarters as the fifth best team in England so far this season.

You can see Schwarzer wince in pain every time he has to go to the floor. We need to make the goal more elderly-friendly next time he plays for us.

Mind you what makes tonight not sound so bad is that both Arsenal and Chelsea lost aswell. I'd rather lose on penalties to Hull than get battered three nil at Sheffield Wednesday.

What? That makes it worse. Two good sides with the strength in depth who are more likely to beat us.

Yeah but that was nearly twenty years ago. Last three penalty shoot outs Leicester have featured in we've lost.

come on dont say it like that! its only 15 years, 8 months....hell to the day actually!

Only people to blame, even though they did well against the hammers.

The team picked to start, wanted another chance, they got it, they were not up for it.

Well done Claudio, we now see, the ups and downs of the 2nd String.

Hull goal, we couldnt clear, GK did his job, we werent alert at the back.

This is not a big set back, Mahrez has come back from worse.

IT showed, that Vards needs sevice, and feeders need to be aware.

Albrighton and Kramaric couldnt lead the line.

Dodoo, just a young lad learning his trade.

Inler, stays a dont know yet, type of player.

King didnt take control.

But none of this has anything to do with the PL, whether we win or lose, against Brom, has nothing to do with tonight.

Shame.!!! Now lets get on to more serious things. If it were the FA Cup I would of worried.

DOUBLE is still on, come on the CITY!!

Bit pissed off to be honest. We should be able to defend a 0-1 lead against pissing Dull Shitty, that side had enough quality in it to get the job done.

Plus Gokhan Inler as present looks more like Gockhan Binler.

Not sure what the hell Schwarzer was doing for that corner. Failed superman punch followed by a fumble over the line. Liability I'm afraid.

I wonder how many of tonight's starting team are going to going to be relevent to our Premiership future.

Schwarzer (No chance - we'd surely get a loanee if anything happened to Kasper though I can't imagine why we haven't got a better understudy already.

DeLaet (A go-to defensive option but no more) - Between him and simpson not much kop, would keep him or danny as cover, sell the other, and sign a decent RB

Benny (Doubt it) - Think he has a lot of potential to be useful over the coming years.

Was (Unlikely now) - Too old now

Chilwell (The most promising and only truly bright light) - Lot's of potential

Inler (I can't see how) - Really want him to settle but still in Serie A mode, can't keep going like this.

King (Sadly we've subdued his attacking strength but he might remain as the go-to midfield replacement for a while) - Love him, Wish we could give him a go as an attacking midfielder, not sure if he's got the class to be consistent in a team going for top 8-10

Dodoo (Not especially impressed and doubt he'll make Premiership standard but you never know.)

Kramaric (All promise and no return) - Seriously need to get him consistent game time, he's a confidence player who has gone from scoring for fun to barely playing, no wonder he's doing poorly, He still has not settled but could be a very good player

Shinji (Has support but way over-rated) - Is actually statistically behind nugent per 90 min average as far as all round stats are concerned, needs to add goals to his game or he is no better than Ulloa, Very overrated so far and fans are blinded by his work rate, He loses more than he tackles and averages 1 tackle a game, statistically almost identical to Ulloa, only weaker, wins less headers, not as good holding up play, and no ariel threat. Really hope he proves me wrong but I'm not convinced at all.

Albrighton (Not good enough) - Been relatively wasteful recently which is worrying, would be an okay backup winger in a top 10 team, quality delivery on his day, but cant see him getting into teams around us in the table so could be improved.

Altogether that's a lot of outlay for a seriously questionable return.

3 of them played in the game your avatar pic comes from. shows how far we have come in a year. we dont have to beat 3 teams. just who is infront of us. we could have got sheffield wednesday next, then stoke, then the final of whoever. beating all 3 in a row would be bloody suicidal i take that point.

Yes, we do have to beat three teams to win the League Cup - that's the point i'm making. We're not Manchester City, and we're not a team like Liverpool or Manchester United - sure, there's a fighting chance if we had reached the QF and even the SF, but it is.. unrealistic to win it, that's why so many outside the top 6 set the League Cup aside, they give it ago like we did tonight, but the chance of actually winning it is slim. That's the point i'm trying to make, I actually think this was probably our best chance to actually get silverware 1 - 0 against Hull, Chelsea and Arsenal look like they're going out, it's a shame we didn't.

I'm sorry but Schwarzer, Inler, Kramaric and to a slightly lesser extent Okazaki seem like mistakes atm. Granted Schwarzer was free but you take my point... Still have hope for Shinji.

luck of the draw i guess but to say its unrealistic to win is nonsense. so many outside the top 6 go for it (apart from newcastle) and the top 6 piss around. wenger hasn't put a full strength team out for years in the competition. its easier to mean the man city's or liverpool's of the world in this competition than the FA cup.

I feel sorry for Hull fans. We played our reserves and it took them penalties to win. For an aspiring premier league club that must be worrying. I suppose they can have Schwarzer when they come up lol

This is remarkably bitter and a bit embarrassing

Think Schwarzer was great for his experience on our return, but did not deserve another contract at all.

I take your point. Still convinced he only got that because he is Pearson's mate. (I'm not a Pearson hater, before that's misinterpreted.)

This thread has turned into such crap. We lost a League Cup match to a Hull side that looks promising for promotion right back into the Premier League, and Claudio made 10 changes to the lineup from Saturday. Did we all forget that awful 0-0 draw against Hull in March? After falling to Spurs the next week, we're on an incredible run, only losing to Chelsea and Arsenal before tonight.

Bring on West Brom already.
