CosbehFox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 We haven't taken that chant from Southampton have we? Cringe city central
Ricey Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 If we in our situation don't take this cup seriously, who will? I can understand it if we were struggling or had a 46-game league season, but we don't. We have better quality in depth than ever before and have started the season so well that we don't fear anyone. I get the feeling that keeping the fringe players happy has been prioritised over progressing to the QF's of a domestic cup, which is a sad indictment of modern football. It's not good news for the League Cup when Leicester City and Hull City, with a QF spot up for grabs, make 18 changes between them. Oh well, at least Kasper will be nicely rested for Saturday and the young prospect Mark Schwarzer has gained some much needed experience.
C-man Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 We haven't taken that chant from Southampton have we? Cringe city central Yes, having had them dominate us all game. They then scored within 2 minutes.
Footballwipe Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Hull deserved the win. Played very well and were the better team throughout save for the last 5 minutes of normal time. Should never have gone down last year - they have a decent squad. Only plus point is that the defence actually did pretty well in the main considering how much pressure Schwarzer continues to put us under with his pathetic distribution (kicks and throws). Chilwell deserves a mention because after a torrid first 15 against a strong opponent in Diame, he settled and got the better of him in the end. Looks really promising. Benny very good imo too. Everything else was absolute turd. Second string or not it needs to be better than that. Oh, and if you sang 'you're ****ing shit' to the tune of 'everiwherwegoooooo' you need to never come back. Forgetting any jinx stuff, it's an absolutely embarrassingly juvenile song. Bang on C-Man. The game was one of the worst I've ever attended but in the main Hull were better and gave us absolutely no time on the ball, whereas we let them dally for as long as they wanted. Thought Chilwell was in for a long night with Diame schooling him, but that maturity to get into the game and play so well is something to behold. I don't mind losing with a second string but they need to go down with a fight, so many dismal performances last night it beggared belief, I don't know if we didn't take it at full pelt or we severely underestimated Hull but overall it was a terrible night. Personally even if we hadn't made the final it wouldn't have mattered. The main thing was to generate that buzz of being so close to a semi or IN a semi final. The last couple we've had we had in the last eight we got Man City and Chelsea, so we knew it was a hiding to nothing, with teams dropping like flies there was a real chance to go gung ho at this. I had no issue with the backups doing it but you expect them to play so much better than that. It was a horrifying insight into what would happen if we lost Mahrez, Dyer, Kante, Drinkwater and Vardy together at some point. Albrighton did everything he could to drag the team along with him last night. Schwarzer is done. We're better than a 43 year old as back up. So much better.
SemperEadem Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Kramaric I thought was working hard and looked dangerous. Taking him off was unfair and I cant help but feel his days are numbered. Benny and Albrighton were the only other two who came out with any credit. Chillwell grew into the game and did well a solid 7/10. Our end was awful! Superb numbers but just stood in silence bar 'everywhere we go' and 'you're f****** s***'. Very dissapointing.

Kramaric and Okazaki is never going to work as a partnership, neither is quick nor good in the air. Shame Ulloa wasn't fit as I think Kramaric would have played better alongside him.
foxfanazer Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Very disappointing! Schwarzer was just laughable, Kramaric and Okazaki invisible and whoever this Inler lookalike is needs to bugger off. We had a real chance to win this cup but the owners and the manager clearly don't give a **** about it.
AKCJ Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Pisses me off when people use the phrase "the players oviously don't care" whenever we lose to a "lesser" team. I can only presume anyone who doesn't care or is even happy about us going out doesn't remember the MON years? Trips to Wembley and European trips are fantastic things to do.Really shouldn't need to say this but being a football fan should be about winning trophies, not increasing the bank balance of owners or shareholders.Hope we never qualify for the Champions league, no point if we can't manage two games a week.

My favourite memories of that time are the second legs of the three semi finals. Absolutely epic games. We should be currently one game away from a repeat of that. To play so poorly and then blow a lead is very disappointing.
zak_lcfc Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Pisses me off when people use the phrase "the players oviously don't care" whenever we lose to a "lesser" team. A little bit selective, think what was being said is football is about those nights in Europe and trophy deciding games but what's the point if it isn't taken seriously? I understand why Ranieri did what he did, our strongest 11 are all injury free and fairly rested for the weekend but due to our start in the league this was a great chance to field a strong team and move on into the next round. If Hull draw someone like Stoke or Sheff Wed then it will be even more disappointing as that gives them a decent chance of moving further in the competition, hopefully we are in an even stronger position by the time the FA cup fixtures roll around and we can focus more attention on trying to win a trophy as well as staying in the league
Oxfordfox83 Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 If you think differently that's fine but I'm afraid that floating high balls to small forwards serves no purpose whatsoever. He's got skill, no question but to hit the same kind of aimless passes tonight as he did against Palace on Saturday makes no sense and suggests a player whose acting out of habit rather than thinking about what's best. I didn't say the bloke was no good but that he wasn't good enough. There's a difference. I've seen stacks of wingers, some of whom crossed the ball brilliantly and some who didn't but perhaps had other strengths. Albrighton's strength is that he's a willing defender as well as a reasonable attacker but that's all. Depends how high you're setting our sights I guess. . Albrighton was a massive factor in our turnaround last season, and was there or thereabouts at the beginning of this one. Your post said he wouldn't have any relevance to our Premier League future, having started every(?) game this season. Absolute nonsense to suggest he won't play a major role, he's one of the first names on the team sheet and the antithesis of Mahrez's inconsistent brilliance.
ramadaone Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Plus points: Chilly did really well after a shaky start and will be our left back for many years to come King appeared to do very little but his work rate off the ball was unreal but was doing the running of 2 players Back four on the whole were ok and would be ok as cover for first team Negatives Doodoo was truly shocking - he is not first team standard and in my opinion never will be ( would be delighted to be proved wrong but I have seen him for the last 4 years so know what he is all about ) Inler was like Drinkwater two seasons ago on a bad day - slow, too long on the ball, safe passes,no end product etc etc. Needs to change the way he plays completely and not sure he can do that Front two - again ok as cover but not first team starters Keeper - been a good servant but now not even close to PL standard We have decided to put all our eggs in the PL basket which is a comp we will never get close to winning in lieu of possibly winning a Cup and enjoying a trip to Wembley. Sort of understand the logic but can't say as I entirely agree with it. Unfortunately Hull created more clear cut chances and deserved to win but it is still a s***hole
Mikey Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Like others have said, the game as a whole was fairly poor with Hull probably shading it. Our defence did well, thought all of them were at least 7/10s. Schwarzer was poor, not only his handling or non-existence in the penalties but his distribution constantly put us under pressure. Class keeper in his day but time to retire. Chilwell gets a special mention because he did so well against a tricky opponent after a shaky first 15. Thought Benny looked good too. Everything else was poor. Kram and shinji worked hard but came up with nothing. Would of kept Kram on to be honest and took Inler off and dropped Drinkwatwe back myself with Kram playing off Vardy. Such a shame to go out after leading as well

Unfortunately Hull created more clear cut chances and deserved to win but it is still a s***hole This is the worst bit about modern football. 4th place in the league or 17th place are deemed better than winning something, yes last years greatest escape was fun, but surely the players will look back at the medal for winning the championship when they are retired. I'm not saying forgo top flight football by any means, but where is the ambition, the 2 aren't mutually exclusive, MON's team did both, Tatter Peeler took us down with no trophies to show for it.
Captain... Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I'm not going to get all upset over this, no real problems with the selection Ranieri needs to see the whole squad play and is still assessing options and abilities. Sadly nobody made a name for themselves, other than a bad one. Hopefully it will be the last we see of Schwarzer, for other players and the FA cup we need to take it seriously, make a few changes but integrate those changes into the first team not play a total second team. For example Inler playing alongside Kante with Vardy, Mahrez, Schlupp and Dyer to pass to will hopefully be a different Inler than last night.
wokinghamfox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Some good comments on here. It was a second string but that group beat a strong West Ham side in the in the last round in an exciting game Just a bad night all teams have them and perhaps for the 1st time this season CR got the tactics wrong.
Guest MattP Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 If we were a top 4 club playing European football I could understand that team last night, it would be a lot for the first team to play virtually every week on a Tues/Weds but our first team hasn't had to play a midweek game yet this season. I have a huge problem with the idea we should sacrifice chances at winning trophies to finish 8th though. Given our current position not putting everything into last night was criminal.

I have a huge problem with the idea we should sacrifice chances at winning trophies to finish 8th though. Given our current position not putting everything into last night was criminal. I agree. It is fantastic being in the Prem and it would be a catastrophe if we were to be relegated but I think this great start to the season should've been seen as a free pass to have a go in the cup. Big teams have gone out and on our day we can beat anyone so it does rankle a bit that performance last night. Got no problem with making changes but that just seemed like it was chucked together rather than thought out tactically. Don't want to dwell on it though as we have some important fixtures coming up. Just wish the club would communicate with the fans a bit and find out what a cup win would mean to us
Fox92 Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Wrong team selection; Renieri made far too many changes. Hull are a good side, second in the Championship and don't concede many goals at home so we should have been stronger. Said prior to the fixture that I'd have gone with players such as Kasper at this stage of the competition. Kante should have started too, the midfield partnership of King and Inler is too weak and too slow. I understand giving Vardy a bit of a rest but yet again we have no goalscoring threat without him, which is worrying should he ever get injured. Really disappointing because it gave us a good chance of progressing, especially with both Chelsea and Arsenal losing. We'll see tonight what happens in the draw. If Hull draw Manchester City away then I'll not be too bothered but if they draw a home game against the likes of Sheffield Wednesday or Everton I'll be gutted.
The Railway Man Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 Gutted about the result, surprised at the reaction odf some fans. Dont ever want to be one of those clubs who have little interest in winning the cups because they see finishing 10th as more important.
Footballwipe Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 It's a bit like West Ham, who actively made sure they lost in the Europa League qualifiers so they could finish as high as possible up the table and qualify for.... The Europa League We win the League Cup and finish 11th, for example, that's an amazing season. We win nothing and finish seventh that's impressive but that is all. By the time January comes round I'm expecting us to be in no danger at all of relegation and probably have dropped back as the usual top five/six takes shape, then I'm expecting a full pelt at the FA Cup. You can mildly excuse not taking the competition seriously when you're either staving relegation or promotion in a gruelling season. When you're fifth after 10 games and it's unlikely it'll be maintained throughout the course of the season the cups offer the realistic chances of glory. We need to take them if we're confident we have solidified ourselves in the PL.
Larry_LCFC Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 We need to change or scouting system for goalkeepersYeah like stop hanging around retirement homes.
johnny the fox Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 win on saturday and all this bellyaching will be forgotten.. staying in the premier is the be all and end all for this season..
AyewJoking Posted 28 October 2015 Posted 28 October 2015 I feel sorry for Hull fans. We played our reserves and it took them penalties to win. For an aspiring premier league club that must be worrying. I suppose they can have Schwarzer when they come up gracious in defeat
