halfpipe Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 We've been in fine form this season, and have proved a point to all the doubters who had us as relegation candidates. The run of fixtures from the United game onwards could prove to be pretty tough for a couple of months, and I don't think it's unreasonable to expect us to drop quite a few points during this period. My main fear with this is the reaction, and whether or not everybody will be calling for Ranieri to get the sack if we go on a streak of poor form. This is mainly due to the fact that we've been so impressive so far, and I wouldn't be surprised to see some fans hoping to get a new manager in if we hit a rough patch, as there could be a perception of us being this "European contending" club. So essentially, if things take a rough turn, what sort of reaction would you personally have, and at what point would you turn against the manager? Of course "40 points" remains a constant target, so if we achieve that, will any poor run of form be enough for you to want somebody else to come in? Apologies for the "glass half empty" attitude here, but if a poor run happens, I can see everybody becoming impulsive and forgetting that staying up was the main goal before the season started, and European football was nothing but a wildy outrageous dream.
HighPeakFox Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 The usual nobbers will shout loudest and then go missing when shown to be wrong
DB11 Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 I'd only lose confidence in the manager if it became apparent on the pitch that the players have. That's why I never lost faith with Pearson, and why I so quickly warmed to Ranieri and am supportive of him.
Izzy Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 So essentially, if things take a rough turn, I can see everybody becoming impulsive. Nah, that never happens on this Forum. Everyone is cool, calculated and rational don't you know!?
Benguin Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 I stuck around and didn't call for Pearson's head this time last year and imagine the same will happen if it occurs this year
halfpipe Posted 11 November 2015 Author Posted 11 November 2015 I stuck around and didn't call for Pearson's head this time last year and imagine the same will happen if it occurs this year The difference being that we weren't a point from top after 12 games last season. I guess what I'm getting at is that I believe that a period of bad form is magnified after following a period of good form. I'd only lose confidence in the manager if it became apparent on the pitch that the players have. That's why I never lost faith with Pearson, and why I so quickly warmed to Ranieri and am supportive of him. That's a great way at looking at it
filbertstreet Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 everyone will go back to supporting chelsea

That's why I never lost faith with Pearson, and why I so quickly warmed to Ranieri and am supportive of him. What he said. I have clapped this team off a number of times in defeat because they have shown pride and commitment, that will continue whether we are the best team in the league or the worst. I don't ask for much just that players play with the same pride and commitment to this club as I would just hopefully with a bit more ability.
Larry_LCFC Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 Only on foxestalk would you find a thread like this. We're playing great, but hey, lets worry about maybe being shit. Why?
EnglishOxide Posted 11 November 2015 Posted 11 November 2015 It depends how bad it gets. We should be nowhere near the bottom five. It's not going to get that bad anyway.
ozleicester Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Immediately institute a....."Sack Claudio" topic Follow that with a ..........."Bring back....MON!" topic Follow that with a .......... "Bring back Nige!" topic Then begin a grass roots protest of Stringer and BBC RL.. institute a "Bring back Youngy" topic. Accuse the owners of not caring about us or our club, explain in the most racist way possible how they cant possibly understand football and that they are only in this to make money. Begin a........ "Mandaric was decent " topic. and...........(sigh)..................eventually..........(sigh)............... just........ BLAME FVCKING WELLENS!!!!!!!!!!!
ScouseFox Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 im booing next time we lose they deserve it
Livid Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Honestly I just can't see another horror run like last year with CR in charge playing the type of football we are.
Vacamion Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Exodus of reasonable posters from this subforum away to General Chat and the Safehouse thread. People calling Vardy a shit flash in the pan after he doesn't score for two games. The usual "Schmeichel isn't good enough at this level" baws. Calls for the Club's owners to spend money (cos THAT'S what caused our previous good form, eh?) People asserting "didn't I tell you all that Peter Taylor also had an unbelievable start but was playing SOMEONE ELSE'S TEAM" before suggesting that Administration and the 3rd tier await us. Again. All perspective lost. It ain't gonna be pretty.
crisp packet Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Let's be positive and see where it takes us? Took us 31 GAMES to get as many points as we're on after 12
Charl91 Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I'll be as happy, as long as we're in 6th or above. Any lower, and Ranieri should be sacked.
gerrytaggart Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 I will flip out and most likely take it out on my wife.
BoyJones Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 This place would go into meltdown. Can't help but agree. We're third now and some people are picking on any fault they can find. Let's learn to enjoy the good times and trust the manager and players.
Leicester_Numan Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 No bad reaction from me, I'm expecting us to drop off and finish top ten/mid table. Since April, we've only played Chelsea, Spurs and Arsenal, all at home and we've lost two of them and drawn the other. As impressive as the run of form is, we haven't played many really tough games, played many of the big teams and still have to play them all away. Again, since April, we haven't had any bad luck or bad decisions going against us that were costing us games last season. The injury situation has also been pretty good with only Matty James being out for any length of time. I'm fully expecting things to change, I'm not expecting wins against the big teams (not that we're not perfectly capable of it), and I'm not expecting European qualification through league position. What we are doing very well though, is picking up points from all the other teams, which is exactly what a club at our stage of building needs to be doing. We can think about regularly beating the big boys on their own grounds and qualifying for Europe in a couple of seasons time, if we manage to hold on to the likes of Vardy and Mahrez that is. So, as I say, no bad reaction from me if/when it happens simply because I expect it to but of course, I'm hoping that we're even better than I'm giving us credit for, we rip everyone to pieces and we end up as champions.
johnny the fox Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 no need to panic but I would want claudio's heed on a stick.
Nick the Stats Guy Posted 12 November 2015 Posted 12 November 2015 Smash my head against the wall. And then the window.
