filbertway Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Here we go again... Look at the stats, he had plenty of time. To be fair, that's like playing Morgan at right back and then dismissing him as a player if he plays poorly because he got plenty of time.
Countryfox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Are we back on this again? Attributing everything to Cambiasso? Saying that having a great player like Cambiasso at the club had a positive influence on him is hardly 'Attributing everything to Cambiasso' !?!? ... Get a grip.
Guest Col city fan Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Saying that having a great player like Cambiasso at the club had a positive influence on him is hardly 'Attributing everything to Cambiasso' !?!? ... Get a grip. I'm referring to a thread (or posts in a thread...really can't remember), that basically attributed everything about our great run at the end of last season to Cambiasso. Apparently he was dictating tactics, holding team meetings and doing the team talks. Or so some alluded to. Now we have a post attributing Drinkwater's great season to Cambiasso. .at least in part. I just find the Cambiasso love - in even continuing NOW quite funny... The midfield this season is miles better than last season and whilst we are now top of the most competitive division of the planet, Cambiasso is not playing much in Greece. One more time..Esteban was OK for the club. This season's midfield shows exactly that. He was just OK. Drinkwater has flourished given game time, accountability to control the midfield and by playing alongside Kante.

Your refusal to accept it because of your horrendous Cattermole prediction doesn't change anything.
MC Prussian Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Are we back on this again? Attributing everything to Cambiasso? Our great escape coincided with Cambiasso giving team talks? Drinkwater was more than happy to wait for a season until Cambiasso left for Greece because he 'learned from him'. Can people still not accept that this season's central midfield is so much better than last season's, it's almost untrue. As far as I can see, we still have the bulk of last year's first team. The big change is Kante for Cambiasso. Frankly, thank God. As for Drinkwater, him and Kante are like him and James in the Championship..They come as a pair, play as a pair and are instinctively knowing each others game. Again, we didn't have that last season. People can still appreciate the quality of our current central midfield duo, whilst simultaneously come to the realistic conclusion that the presence of Cambiasso last season did have an influence on Drinkwater (and everyone else for that matter), you know.

Guest Col city fan Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Well he was magic you know Col .... at least thats what the crowd kept shouting at me. fair enough mate...that was a magic song...One me and my mates very often used to sing in the boozer. Cambiasso aside, all I'm saying is that Drinkwater (our player of the season in the promotion season) has been given his chance to run the midfield, been given a partner with 'legs' and immense energy and just look how he's taken it. Brilliant.

Sharpe's Fox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Cambiasso was ace, he played balls that Drinkwater still dreams of playing. That one to Ulloa in the Chelsea home game oh my
Foxymcoxy Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 That one from Drinky to Vardy yesterday though...Oh my! Cambiasso was brilliant but I don't think we need to continually compare our current players to him. Don't forget Drinkwater also brings things that Cambiasso couldn't in terms of youth and energy. Cambiasso was one of the games greats and we were lucky to have him, even late in his career, but we are lucky to have Drinkwater now coming into his prime.

I think you'll struggle to see a better pass all season. And he scored too! Anyway, I'm outta here. I can feel another ban looming. Note to self..Cambiasso is apparently a legend..don't even talk about him.
weller54 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Woy and the Spurs spaffers take note.. Dele Alli not good enough to lace Danny Drinkwater's boots!!!

Sharpe's Fox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Col knickers are in a perennial twisting motion where Cambi is involved. Imagine thinking Lee Cattermole is better than him my days what a moment
Fox92 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Woy and the Spurs spaffers take note.. Dele Alli not good enough to lace Danny Drinkwater's boots!!! Different players. Both should go to Euro 2016 but only the one will and we all know who.

HighPeakFox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Leave it - both parties are conflating and twisting what was originally said. Col, you always take the bait don't you?
MC Prussian Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Somebody thought Clattermole was better than Cambi? seriously? Imagine, Lee ****ing Cattermole has already added a Premier League goal to his tally this season, whereas Cambiasso still hasn't. Shocking, but true.

Note to self..Cambiasso is apparently a legend..don't even talk about him. You need to get over the Cambiasso hatred, if you can not see what he brought to the team last season then i'm sorry you are a complete tool, he didn't just bring great performances at the end, but huge experience and calmness to the team. And behind close doors i bet he taught a lot more to the players too!

Note to self..Cambiasso is apparently a legend..don't even talk about him. It's your prerogative to rubbish Cambiasso all you like, but you shouldn't be surprised that most people with common sense will disagree with you. Almost everyone agrees that he was an excellent player.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Somebody thought Clattermole was better than Cambi? seriously? Yup here's the quote in full Im not at all surprised at how I percieve this thread has progressed. It essentially kicked off with surprise and delight at our being linked with Cambiasso. Images were created of posters 'spaffing' at the prospect Then, in usual Babylon fashion, glibness pervaded and of course, the playground mentality prevailed, everyone jumped on the bandwagon and any discussion gets lost amongst all the piss-taking. Col, once more, becomes a QPR fan... In summary.. absolutely my feelings towards us signing Cambiasso are very mixed. Im never sure of signing older, overseas players who are edging towards the end of their careers. A player like Ronaldhino, NOW, I would not touch with a barge-pole. To do so would be to remind me of the Sven days and the complete fookin cock-up that was made then. Given the choice of Isla, for example, or Cambiasso.. I'd take the former in a heart beat. He's younger, fitter and with a point to prove. Cambiasso has done it all and has nothing to prove. I imagine him joining us would be a pay day, nothing more. Its my own fault. I saw it before re. the news that we were getting Sven and then Beckford. For some reason, the majority on here will quickly dismiss ANY suggestion of questioning. It seems almost 'disloyal' perhaps to not jump on the bandwagon of positivity. But, I'll do two things: I'll stand by my not immediately claiming that signing Cambiasso would be fantastic AND I'll be the first to claim that I was wrong if we sign him and he turns out to be our key signing of the summer. Personally, given all things considered, Id be happier to be linked with a player like Lee Cattermole. Hows that for fence sitting?
chapero82 Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 Yup here's the quote in full that quote still makes me laugh
BrokenRecord Posted 24 January 2016 Posted 24 January 2016 The fact that Col thinks Kante has "come in for Cambiasso" really says it all. Complete different players, bud. Inler was supposed to come in for him, but we've all seen how that's gone. If anything Drinky is playing Cambiasso this season, although like someone else said he's more lively due to age. If anything Kante's come in for James. The midfield this season is doing great, and long may it continue.
