Happy Fox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 What impressed me the most yesterday was the teams fitness. I was really concerned after the Chelsea game where we looked absolutely knackered towards the end, that with a day's less rest we'd struggle. Everton looked a very fit and energetic team yesterday, but at no point did we look tired. Such a remarkable achievement from the sports science guys. That cryo chamber seems to be working a treat
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 People will write off the third goal as an Everton mistake or handball by Albrighton but look at how many players we have committed forward to pen them in. A lot of teams 2-1 up at a tough away ground would be hanging back at a defensive throw-in. We have at least four players forward and three of them are involved in the goal.

I'd put it down to the great hope for England centre backs sitting on his arse whilst the game went on.
davieG Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Frustrated Martinez claims Leicester offered 'little threat' 9 Dec 2015 21:26:52 Two penalties from Riyad Mahrez helped the Premier League leaders to victory, but the Toffees manager believes they did not deserve to lose Roberto Martinez was frustrated by Everton's defensive lapses in a 3-2 Premier League defeat to a Leicester City team he claimed offered "little threat" on Saturday. Goals from Romelu Lukaku and substitute Kevin Mirallas were not enough for the hosts at Goodison Park, as two Riyad Mahrez penalties and Shinji Okazaki's strike condemned them to a first defeat in seven league matches. Martinez felt Everton were impressive in limiting Leicester's attacking opportunities and did not think conceding three goals was a fair reflection of the contest. "Leicester came with a moment of really good form," he said. "They have got the best goalscoring threat in the league with the amount of goals they have scored. "They are the best team in counterattacks and I thought we stopped them completely. For us to concede three goals in the manner that we did is very frustrating. "The whole game went into a difficult way of not being able to get our tempo and not get into our rhythm - Leicester did that really well, they took 30 to 35 seconds to restart every action and you can see us and the crowd getting frustrated. "The disappointment is to concede soft goals, two of them from throw-ins, one in our favour, one in Leicester's and that is something we cannot allow - an opposition with so little threat going forward to end up with three goals. "That is the difference between being able to win a game or not. I don't think we were fantastic or at our best but scoring two goals at home against such a well-organised side should have been enough to win the game. "It is very, very disappointing and very frustrating because it was a game that we were really looking forward to. We wanted to face the league leaders and have a real good test and try to make the three draws that we collected previously become very good draws by getting a good win."
Countryfox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Not sure if it may have been mentioned but RM's pens look at bit tame to me .... yes I know they both went in but its all about placement .... I prefer the more whack it 4 ft off the ground sort of thing. Hope it doesn't cost us one day. Pleased for Shinji and as they still try and decide why we are doing so well (fookin obvious to me ... we are a good team !), Wes seems to be the "new" star. All a bit surreal and hope I don't wake up ...

Serious sour grapes from martinez. I work with an efc st holder who was at the match and he said we totally deserved the win. Passing sideways like a crab and having no end product doesn't mean a side has played well.
Babylon Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 "Little threat" only three less shots and the same amount on target... What does that say about your threat with 70% possession Roberto?
Bayfox Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 We had a Everton fan sat on train back and he was very complimentary about us. Both in the way we played and our attitude to the game. Said we showed Everton no respect, in the nicest way possible. I thought it was one of our poorer performances as well. But we do seem to be clinical at the minute.
Corky Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Our goalscoring record is tremendous but I've not seen Ranieri as a defensive manager since he joined Chelsea. They were pretty prolific in his tenure.

That was a classic goal to show the kids the power of constant pressure. Forcing them into a throw might have seemed pointless but then from that throw we forced them into a hurried clearance which we nicked and scored.

All a bit surreal and hope I don't wake up ... 4 feet of the ground around the middle of the goal is the perfect place for a keeper to make a save. Riyad tucks them right into the bottom corner. Keepers can't get across that far and that low unless they either guess early or come off their line. Riyad's slow run up makes sure they can't do either. Classic penalties imo.
dedlock Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Martinez appears to be confusing possession with goal scoring. Yes, Everton had the better of the first half, 2/3 possession and were a real test for City, probably our most difficult game since Arsenal, but we grew into the game and Everton did not do enough defensively to stop our counter attacks. He ignores the shots on target each side had. For all their possession they did no better than City.

BoyJones Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 The true Martinez. His team lost fair and square, but he is looking for excuses. Comes over as a nice guy, but really is just a more cultured Tony Pulis. They scored two scrambles where the ball fell kindly for them, although I accept Barkleys back heel was very deft. If Ulloa would have a proper shot instead giving the keeper a back pass, the score line would have been very emphatic.
Foxhateram Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Even the Everton players were clapping us yesterday. There was quite a long shot at the end of the stream I watched that showed Lakaku almost in disbelief of how well we were doing, he walked over and clapped out lads almost as if he was in awe! Amazing stuff.

We are just too good for any defender at times.
what? Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Haven't had a chance to watch the game yet. Sounds like we did what the top teams do, came away with the points despite not playing our best. I had alerts from the Guardian clock watch on my phone and enjoyed this one Everton 1-3 Leicester (Okazaki) From an Everton throw-in, Albrighton snatches possession and sets up Jamie Vardy, who looks up and picks up Okazaki. With apologies to Everton fans, this is brilliant. Had Mahrez (as captain), Vardy, Lukaku and Barkley in my FF team and got 53 points just between them AND we still won the game. Pretty perfect I reckon. I've not seen Vardy's injury yet. Has there been any update on it?

Dan Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 Hope we have under 30% possession every single game just so we anger the Van Gaal-like brigade even more when we invariably win the game.

All season we have destroyed the idea that possession is important and gets you 3 points. We have decided to go our own way, an all new genius method, which is if you score more goals you win games, and get 3 points, who would have thought it?
yorkie1999 Posted 20 December 2015 Posted 20 December 2015 And to the 4 knob heads stood next to me, trying to scare the shit out of 8 year old kids sat with their parents in what i presume was the family stand, is a bit daft and to be honest you're a fvckin disgrace, and i'm glad that everton fan gave you a good talking to.
