Koke Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Feel a bit sorry for him. We havent missed him or James a bit. He was really good against Norwich in October. Was that the last game he played for us? He started the following week away at Southampton but was taken off at half time and he started a few weeks later away at West Brom. I think that was the last time he played for us.

EnglishOxide Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 When you have schlump and Kante in the middle seems like there's a lot more havoc in the midfield. I'd like to see those two with vardy, mahrez, Okazaki. Agreed. Quite an underrated player. Fuchs is the better defender and Chilwell just may be too. But Schluup is our other Albrighton. Works hard, but is more athletic and pacier. Can play anywhere down the left or up top. You know he will do nothing spectacular but you are usually guaranteed a 7/10 performance. He is certainly better than Dyer and probably more robust than Gray. I think we have missed him at times. His raw pace gives teams another problem to deal with.
Dan Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Schlupp at left back in this system would be a complete waste of time. It would expose his flaws. The longer it's gone on, the less our full backs have gone forward.
AyewJoking Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Player returning after months out of action and cant really justify a place in our top of the league match day squad shocker

I couldn't disagree more with either of those
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 I couldn't disagree more with either of those was gonna say the same. he's much more likely to put in a 11/10 or a 1/10 performance than a 7/10. i can't ever remember thinking "yeah schlupp did what was expected of him today". a handful of times i remember thinking "jesus christ he's the new ronaldo" and other times thinking "please god say we can get josh low back on a free".
Thracian Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Schlupp at left back in this system would be a complete waste of time. It would expose his flaws. The longer it's gone on, the less our full backs have gone forward. I'd agree with that but our system will need to evolve quite dramatically if we finally get into Europe. Spurs are showing the way in terms of full-backs and the notion of attacking and defending as one.

st albans fox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 We have really missed jeff coming off the bench after about 65 mins Players (albrighton for sure) have missed out on some rest time because of this. Don't underestimate the potential his pace has for making the opposition sit a bit deeper on that flank.
Father Ted Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Think I'll throw my opinion in here, considering how much abuse Schlupp seems to be receiving here. Most are conceiving him to be this horrific left back... some of his best performances have come as a left winger. I think that at this moment in time, he would be a far greater asset than both Gray and Dyer as a choice behind Albrighton and Mahrez. His pace, strength and directness are something that we have perhaps been lacking. He's an effective and key player for us.

He can go past people so easily, just knock it past them and run, can muscle his way past most fullbacks in this league if people can keep up with him. West Brom away last season was unreal, he just took it up to their lads, knocked it into space and ran past them like they weren't there. Compare that to Albrighton who always seems to struggle to actually beat a man (but makes up for it with the quality of delivery of course). End of the day he's not going to push anyone out of the starting line up at the minute, but he HAS to be a better option from the bench than Dyer, plus he's younger than Nathan and one of our players not a loanee.
Gerard Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Schlupp at left back in this system would be a complete waste of time. It would expose his flaws. The longer it's gone on, the less our full backs have gone forward. Agreed and it's also probably the reason we have an over inflated opinion of Simpson. We play to Simpson's strengths because he's asked only to be defensive.
davieG Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 As he prepares his squad to face Norwich City on Saturday, Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri gave an update on the fitness of Jamie Vardy, Jeffrey Schlupp and Daniel Amartey. The Foxes boss revealed that Academy graduate Schlupp returned to full training this week, having not played since 5 December against Swansea City due to a hamstring problem. Meanwhile, Ranieri also discussed the fitness of Premier League top scorer Vardy and latest City signing Daniel Amartey. “Schlupp has come back and he’s trained fully with us,” Ranieri said. “I don’t know now [whether he will be in the squad to face Norwich] because it’s just the first week with us but it’s good to see him back. “Amartey isn't 100 per cent, no, but he’s ready. He played against Manchester City in the Under-21s. He played 90 minutes. “I hope now he’s (Jamie Vardy) 80 per cent and in the next matches he arrives at 100 per cent.” Defender Danny Simpson is suspended for the clash with the Canaries having been sent off in the 2-1 defeat to Arsenal last time out, meaning Amartey will be competing with a number of players to fill the void. Ranieri added: “I can put [Marcin] Wasilewski again [at right back], I can put Amartey, I can put [Marc] Albrighton maybe. I have one day more to think about it. “Of course when you change something, something different [happens]. But I think the squad must repair ever Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/ranieris-injury-update-vardy-schlupp-amartey-2973584.aspx#DAD3rtqUt1mXXsIh.99
crisp packet Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Don't get the shluup hate? Our bench is weaker after January ... ? We have missed his pace!
Vicki Vixen Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 I've missed Jeff. Huth's free kick didn't come close.
tetly Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Looking forward to him being involved in the first team again. Just as others have said he can offer cover in a number of positions. He is young enough to work on some of his weaknesses and improve enough to be a great winger. He should be used as a winger not defender, now we have young Chilwell he won't have to fill in as a fullback as often. we should see the best of him in the coming years.
davieG Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Offers something different when we're chasing the game a major requirementof the bench.
Detroit Blues Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 I understand he's not a perfect defender but some of you make it seem like he's Mr. Bean out there picking dandelions. I'd rather bring him on as a winger off of the bench than Dyer. I'd rather him come on as a sub for Fuchs than Chilwell who has no premier league experience. Obviously, he's not match fit yet, but when he is I'd expect him to play some role on this team in the next few months. I think the Schlupp hate has gone too far.
daddylonglegs Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 hate schlupp at Left back. Love him as a last 20 min winger impact sub .................PACE He's only good when he comes off the bench when Stowell or whoever instructs him before he comes on reminds him he needs to get off of planet jeff and that he's about to play football
Soar Fox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Correct. Compare that to Albrighton who always seems to struggle to actually beat a man (but makes up for it with the quality of delivery of course). Correct on beating the West Brom fullback, and then the next thing he doesn't use what little brain he has got by running with the ball then literally just looking at the same fullback at walking pace not knowing what to do. 3000 away fans screaming at him just to run forward. I do miss him for his funny bits though, how many other players have started walking off the pitch thinking he's getting subbed when the opposition make a sub.
ScouseFox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 sometimes when he beats his full back by knocking it and running first time, early in a game it's the worst thing for us, because he then spends the next 89 minutes thinking "well it worked that other time surely it'll work again" and just running into defenders on repeat still funny tho
lgfualol Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 Yes we have..!!! If I remember right wasnt you one of the posters screaming we need cover, in the transfer periods. Yea right back and striker cover
Soar Fox Posted 25 February 2016 Posted 25 February 2016 hahaha i love it when he gets the ball and has 50 yards in front of him and no opposition right back and he just stands still and throws his arms in the air as if to say "guys what do i do now?" then he stands still for a few secs then decides the best option is to just run out of play usually. ledge. sometimes when he beats his full back by knocking it and running first time, early in a game it's the worst thing for us, because he then spends the next 89 minutes thinking "well it worked that other time surely it'll work again" and just running into defenders on repeat still funny tho Funny things Jeff Schlupp does.
