i think he is just pleased we are out of the cup. so am i.

its nice to win matches but now we can put everything into the league.

unrelated but could this season possibly be a reverse of last season??

And pleased that Tottenham aren't!  Spurs now have more games and are our rivals for a top four position in the league.

Ranieri is very good at playing us down in the media. 'Little old Leicester', 40 points and survival is our aim, we're building for the future, we're not at the same level as the big boys, we're not ready to be champions, our journey begins now, etc, etc, etc.

I see why he's doing this and in a way, he might be right. Maybe his intention is to keep us all supporters grounded and our expectations realistic.

On the flip side, I guess it can show lack of ambition and a small club mentality.

He seems a very humble chap, and maybe that's why he's liked and respected by the media and fans. I dunno, maybe behind closed doors with the players he's a different character all together..

i love ranieri but i totally disagree with him. we were so deep yet again and its negative tactics. becoming increasingly worried since Everton away at how deep we are, regardless of who plays

he needs to call some bitch an ostritch an wrestle some other punk to detract attention from how shit we were imo

Babylon,hits it ...

with Claudios English, even Morhino and a few other Foreign managers, statements or replys.

They have listening jounalist waiting to pounce of the littlest crumbs. Then construe their

.own interpretations. The fans seriously are not much better.

Take Claudios interviews and statements with a pinch of salt, unless facts are being discussed, then

just read between the lines.....:)

Mind you on the Fa-cup display, I would of been hard and critical on the performance, but bringing in the

spurs building history was a nice choice of tact fron Claudio.,

You take that with a pinch of salt.

He clearly says we didn't play very well in the first half, that doesn't equal fantastic performance does it. Neither does saying they deserved to win.

On the OS he talks about our progress being fantastic, with us competing with the likes of Spurs much further ahead in their development. Rather than the performance last night.

“I think we’ve made a very fantastic step, because in four matches against Tottenham, we’ve won one, lost one and drawn two. If you imagine it’s a minimum of 10 years that Tottenham are building their team to reach the Europa League and Champions League zone."

When someone has pigeon English to the extent he has, there is absolutely no point in picking holes in what they say. Half of almost all his interviews is gibberish where either he doesn't get the question, or the reporter doesn't understand the answer fully.

This.

Plus, he may be saying that considering the players we had in parts. Ie, Considering King didn't get a kick, Dyer was awful, Ulloa was appalling etc - to keep them to about 2 shots on target with a second string of players wasn't that bad!

Need to ditch the odd player in order to move on, it's usually the same faces having a mare!

I've no problem with him trying to sound upbeat but there was nothing in his ability to speak English that would alter or misinterpret his comments about wanting to maintain in the first half that is an admission of negativity as I said in an earlier post it's a one off game why reduce your scoring chances to 45 minutes and it's not as if it takes more energy to take a more positive approach in fact I'd suggests it's more energy sapping endlessly chasing around without the ball.

Maintain... or Contain... The fact he got that wrong says it all.

I don't know why anyone would read anything into what he says in any post match interview really.

He usually says the same things 'character , heart good performance etc' . Never tells us anything really

It's the first port of call for the negative ninnies, so easy to twist and turn things against the manager.

Not really when you consider the whole phrase

I wanted to maintain in the first half and push in the second half.

Either word suggests an emphasis on defending at the cost of attacking and still means reducing your chances of scoring in a one off game where the winner takes all.

It's not about being negative for me I don't care what he says about the players performance as I'm sure he says differently behind close doors I just think he got his approach/tactics whatever you want to call them wrong.

Why would anyone be against him? Shall we just disregard all of his interviews because he doesn't speak English fluently?

To be honest I don't believe a word the bloke says in the media. We've seen what they're like in football. If he honestly believed we played well last night I'd be worried but I don't think he does. Don't forget this is the bloke who said he expected no business this month, has signed Demarai Gray, is about to sign Amartey and has today said he wants a forward. Bluff.

Yup. Ranieri has openly admitted to playing the media game. A couple of weeks ago at a press conference, he essentially said something along the lines of "What I say to you I don't actually mean"

He did say that his 433 did not work.

I can understand putting out the kids and reserves, this is a 3rd round draw in a contest that we are lacking in depth to win.

He could have asked them to put on a bit more of a show though. There were a lot of more fringe supporters at the game and watching at home, who deserved some better entertainment.

I think Tottenham came with a better plan for their 4th match of the season, knowing how we would play, and not wanting to be stung again.
