Guest MattP Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Mate texted me who watched tonight saying he's looks talented at times but very very raw. Look a little lost at times and would be amazed if he's near the first team anytime soon.
GingerrrFox Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 He's not a right back so it's pretty harsh that he's being thrown in at the deep end as we have no proper cover for Simpson
Buzzell Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 He's not a right back so it's pretty harsh that he's being thrown in at the deep end as we have no proper cover for Simpson Who says he's starting against Norwich? I can imagine Was playing RB with Amartey being on the bench.

foxes21 Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 He's probably rusty, not played since the 6th of December.. That is over two months. This is his pre-season, so think back to our pre-season before making a judgement. There were plenty of rusty players against Birmingham. Despite peoples view of his performance tonight, I'd still start him at Norwich and play him the next couple of games. The lad needs minutes to get rid of that rust.
dorsetboy Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 Now the doubters might understand our need for proper reinforcements in the transfer window. Vardy was tattered the last 20 minutes and we had no dangerous replacement. There's clearly no replacement for Simpson either. Nor a genuine wide replacement or a worthwhile midfield replacement now King seems to have served his purpose. Grey's a kid learning his trade, if Amarthey's not good enough to replace Simpson it's a sorry situation and Neilsen doesn't really come into it just yet. What the window really should have sorted was alternatives to deal with situations like today. Instead even our established reserves seem to have become so uninvolved they've lost their edge. Was has already been mentioned but Kingy looked just like a joiner's tool that had no purpose. Surely if we have just one style of play we should have like for like options. Today was the perfect opportunity for 3-5-1. That was we'd have avoided being push back to the edge of our penalty area and the wide players (withdrawing Albrighton was crazy) could help stifle creative feeds into our box and also provide a passing option for the central midfielders and single striker going forward. As it was we lost all fluency and simply hacked the ball clear of our penalty area and waited for good players (mostly unchallenged) to put it straight back. It was never going to work. Not for so long and the evidence was there to be seen well before their belated winner. have to agree with you here i said just before the window opened this is a real oppurtunity to bring in some quality in certain areas we could .. i felt we could have brought in a quality rb to compete with simpson and also a quality lm as gray is still learning and when i say quality i mean top quality that cost a few million and then a very good number 10 to play alongside vardy, now i know we tried to get players in a failed but i still think we should have paid the extra for musa . that 5 million extra is peanuts compared to champions league and tv money

EnglishOxide Posted 15 February 2016 Posted 15 February 2016 I can't work out why we loaned out De Laet. Me neither. If Amartey is not ready to fill in its quite a gamble sending RDL and Benny away.

Yup, hopefully it's just that he needs time getting match fit and raring to go.
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 I can't work out why we loaned out De Laet. That may have been at RDL's request - to get a shot at the Belgian Euro's squad?
goose2010 Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 My bad, I don't know why I said Schlupp...I meant to say Liam Moore! that's worse than Schlupp! Wasyl will play there.
Bettsj2 Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 That may have been at RDL's request - to get a shot at the Belgian Euro's squad? Ranieri told us why he loaned them out so not sure why people are confused. With no cup competitions RDL and Benny would have little or no chance of playing for the rest of the season and the players at their age need to be playing. Was and Chili B are the defensive cover on the bench so it's doubtful either RDL or Benny would have even been in the matchday squads, especially with Amartey to come into the picture.
Claridge Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Who says he's starting against Norwich? I can imagine Was playing RB with Amartey being on the bench. Was is quite possibly the worst right back I have ever seen.if anyone went sheff weds away they will fully understand.
goose2010 Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 could Fuchs play right back? Chilwell left?
Guest MattP Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 The RDL loan was very strange. Ranieri was bringing him on most weeks as well up until the deadline, he's clearly our current best replacement for Simpson and he's playing for someone else.
Guest MarshallForEngland Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Was is quite possibly the worst right back I have ever seen Guessing you haven't been watching Leicester that long or you're just clueless. He isn't a right back, he was playing out of position because of the emergency situation caused by Simpson's red card. But even if you meant he is the worst person to have played that position at all, you're still way off. That is a position once occupied by Robbie Neilson ffs. Wasil is a decent no-nonsense defender who sometimes takes his physicality a bit too far. To say he is the worst is a long way off.
Claridge Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Good centre back I agree, but as you say he's not a right back and should not play there against Norwich.yes neilson was shocking
AKCJ Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Lets be honest. We could play anyone there and we should still win. I'm happy for Wasyl to take the spot but I would love Amartey to be given a chance to shine,

I and a mate went to his debut game and before the match I had read about his wonderful long throw ins etc. I said to this mate as he went to take a throw in, watch this it will be special etc. He threw it he slipped as he took it it barely reached the pitch let alone clear the nearest defender 5 yards away. . Robbie bloody Neilson. Effin useless.
ALC Fox Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Could we go with Albrighton at right-back and Gray left wing? Might be interesting to have MA whipping crosses in from the right all game, especially if Ulloa gets a run-out.
Babylon Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 There is no point in trying to compare how Was played before in that position as we are set up totally different to how we used to play. He'll stay close to the cb's, won't be asked to venture up field and we'll defend as two banks of four. Was did fine when he came on, but for one brain fart at the end, people would say he coped fairly well against some of the best attacking players in the league, whilst we were down a man.
Thracian Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 This is a entirely predictable problem we've brought on ourselves with the complete inadequacy of our January window activities. And not the only one. What a missed opportunity it was. No full-back to replace DeLaet as cover, Amarthey seemingly short of even being ready to play, Gray looking far too fragile to replace Schlupp at this stage (if ever), no alternative strikers and two left-footers as our only obvious options for both full-back positions. It was a catalogue of errors sunk the Titanic and the same could happen to our season, for all that both were entirely preventable. No I don't think it will. But it's left us unnecessarily vulnerable.
Thracian Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Lets be honest. We could play anyone there and we should still win. I'm happy for Wasyl to take the spot but I would love Amartey to be given a chance to shine, There's nothing "honest" about it. That's exactly the attitude that would get us turned over.
