Amartey Signs

What position is he? He seems like a utility man - CB, RB, CM... I guess I'm trying to get at who's position is under threat?

No ones but at the same time, everyones.

Apart from Schmeichel, Huth, Morgan, Fuchs, Mahrez, Drinkwater, Kante and Vardy.

Nice to see we're easing him in, luckily I feel he'll be afforded a little more breathing room and time to properly adapt compared to last season's January signings.

Nice to hear Iversen has gone into the U21 squad and looked decent as well, especially for an 18 year old.

Can't see him making it with the first team if he can't single-handedly ensure a win and clean sheet for the U21s in his first appearance for the Club a month after moving to a new country.

Please tell me that's sarcastic

Will be on the bench against Arsenal I would of thought

Surely the same 11 and bench as last Saturday?

Now the doubters might understand our need for proper reinforcements in the transfer window. Vardy was tattered the last 20 minutes and we had no dangerous replacement.

There's clearly no replacement for Simpson either. Nor a genuine wide replacement or a worthwhile midfield replacement now King seems to have served his purpose.

Grey's a kid learning his trade, if Amarthey's not good enough to replace Simpson it's a sorry situation and Neilsen doesn't really come into it just yet.

What the window really should have sorted was alternatives to deal with situations like today. Instead even our established reserves seem to have become so uninvolved they've lost their edge. Was has already been mentioned but Kingy looked just like a joiner's tool that had no purpose.

Surely if we have just one style of play we should have like for like options. Today was the perfect opportunity for 3-5-1. That was we'd have avoided being push back to the edge of our penalty area and the wide players (withdrawing Albrighton was crazy) could help stifle creative feeds into our box and also provide a passing option for the central midfielders and single striker going forward.

As it was we lost all fluency and simply hacked the ball clear of our penalty area and waited for good players (mostly unchallenged) to put it straight back. It was never going to work. Not for so long and the evidence was there to be seen well before their belated winner.

Just had the first chance to watch Amartey in the flesh in today's U21 game vs Man City U21s - and judging from what I saw, he still has some work to do to be able to cut it at a premier league level. Whilst he diligently worked well as part of the back 4 unit, he didn't mark closely, commit to tackles or be vocal enough with his close team mates. I didn't see a lot of defensive anticipation or positioning that I'm used to seeing from Simpson or Fuchs. I was also surprised to see him beat for pace by their left-winger.

It may be that I expected too much of him from a reserve game. Whereas I expected Amartey to start in our next game against Norwich, I would not be surprised to see Schlupp there instead.

Anyone else at the game tonight?

My bad, I don't know why I said Schlupp...I meant to say Liam Moore!

Aint schulp injured

Potentially. Depends if he's recovered from his injury in time. I don't think we know either way yet but we believe he will be back in action sometime in Feburary, as I understand.
