Guest Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 Will Amartey at least make the bench for the next game? I wonder CR loves multi position players on the bench. He'll replace De Laet on the bench.
lgfualol Posted 25 January 2016 Posted 25 January 2016 If Amartey really can do RB, CB and CDM. Could we see a bench of Goalkeeper, Amartey, Schlupp, King, Inler, New striker/ulloa, Gray Nice bench if so
davieG Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 Claudio Ranieri says Daniel Amartey’s versatility will be a big asset for Leicester City during the second half of the Barclays Premier League season. Amartey, 21, completed a move to Leicester from FC Copenhagen last week, boosting Ranieri’s squad with further strength and quality. The Ghana international was not involved in Saturday’s 3-0 victory over Stoke City, but will hit the training ground in preparation for a challenging sequence that sees the league leaders face Liverpool, Manchester City and Arsenal in the coming weeks. And Ranieri says his newest recruit’s adaptability make him an important addition to his squad. “It’s good to have one player that can permit me to change something during the match,” Claudio said. “He’s a good player, strong, with good quality, a hard worker and he has our spirit. “He is a strong man and he can play in a lot of positions. He can play centre-back, right-back, central midfield and right midfield. “It’s important for me to have another very good young player.” Read more at http://www.lcfc.com/news/article/ranieri-amartey-gives-us-options-2921390.aspx#EPAxss8ImPrLTYsj.99
Guest Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 Will Amartey at least make the bench for the next game? I wonder Thought I'd read that he's giving him the next 10 days off before starting training. But once he's come in for training he'll be ready to play.
shade Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 Has he got international clearance? dunno if he can kick it quite that far.
Livid Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 Has he got international clearance? I was half expecting to see that in the OS article. I'm assuming not yet.
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 What position is he? He seems like a utility man - CB, RB, CM... I guess I'm trying to get at who's position is under threat?
Phube Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 What position is he? He seems like a utility man - CB, RB, CM... I guess I'm trying to get at who's position is under threat? Against the Big Teams I'd guess Okasaki/Ulloa as I'm sure Ranieri will want us to eventually play 4-3-3. With Kante, Drinkwater and Armartey sitting in?
Raw Dykes Posted 27 January 2016 Posted 27 January 2016 What position is he? He seems like a utility man - CB, RB, CM... I guess I'm trying to get at who's position is under threat? He's certainly versatile. I saw one article that said he could play all those positions and RM, as well. He should have more opportunities than most new signings to get into the team.
Merging Cultures Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Great article on the BBC website. It seems like he understands it will require hardwork to break into the starting 11. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/35422821 Daniel Amartey: New Leicester signing vows to make impact By Oluwashina Okeleji BBC Sport 1 hour ago From the sectionFootball Sharethis page Daniel Amartey was in the Ghana squad that reached the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of NationsLeicester's new signing Daniel Amartey is determined to make an impact at the club following his move from Danish side FC Copenhagen. The 21-year-old Ghana international, who can play in defence or midfield, signed a four-year deal for a fee of up to £6m on 22 January. "I have strong confidence in my ability to play in the Premier League," Amartey told BBC Sport. "And I believe I can make a strong contribution to Leicester City." He added: "I don't want to make any promises now but to be judged by my performance when given the opportunity. "As a professional footballer I am mentally prepared and ready to challenge for a place in the first team." 'Every player's dream'Amartey realises it will be difficult to break into the starting XI of a Leicester side that sits at the top of the Premier League table but is clear about what is required. "I saw the game against Stoke [a 3-0 league win on 23 January] and I also had a chat with the manager and technical staff too, so I have a very good idea of their expectations," he said,. "The Premier League is one of the best leagues if not the best so the first key will be to work extremely hard because the team is flying right now. "It's every player's dream to have the opportunity to play in the Premier League not to talk about the high possibility of being champions. "So joining Leicester at this particular time is just awesome but I have to earn my spot among the stars in the team." Amartey has won six international caps and played in all the group matches for Ghana at the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations, where the Black Stars finished as runners-up. Has also played in the Uefa Champions League and the Europa League.
Guest Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 What position is he? He seems like a utility man - CB, RB, CM... I guess I'm trying to get at who's position is under threat? I doubt anybody is directly under threat, if we are going to be successful we need probably a little more depth in certain areas should injury/loss of form happen. As the interview states he clearly seems to know that he has to work hard to get a start here so it shouldn't come as a surprise if he isn't the 'main man'
Wasyls Pec Deck Posted 28 January 2016 Posted 28 January 2016 Fair enough. Look a handy player to have on the bench - Jack of all trades!
thybluefox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Anyone know if this guy is ready to be on the bench today? Not wanting him to start, but if we're 2-0 up on 75mins I'd like to see him on.
thybluefox Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 Ranieri said no. Ready for Man City though. Cheers buddy!
lgfualol Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 433 should be the case against City. Amartey, Kante and Drinkwater will be a tough wall to break through before having to break through our defence as well.
UPinCarolina Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 433 should be the case against City. Amartey, Kante and Drinkwater will be a tough wall to break through before having to break through our defence as well. Our midfield speed will hopefully facilitate us getting some counter-attacks to hit home against them. Their defense is suspect, while ours has come together quite nicely.
foxes21 Posted 2 February 2016 Posted 2 February 2016 I think Amartey is a vital player for us now and he's only been here a week! Back up RB, CB, and will play that holding role in the 4-3-3. Expecting big things from the lad!!
weller54 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Wonder if he'll be on the bench against Citeh?
Ric Flair Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 Wonder if he'll be on the bench against Citeh? Most certainly and if we're tempted to play 3 in the middle then he may even start, which if we do then I hope to dear god that Gray starts instead of Albrighton otherwise we're so devoid up top. Hopefully we go 4-4-2 but Amartey now gives us a very tempting option.
CosbehFox Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 He will be having a mini pre season at the moment with the winter break in Denmark. Wouldn't expect him to be near the match day squad over the next two games.
weller54 Posted 4 February 2016 Posted 4 February 2016 I fancy we'll see his debut, off the bench v Norwich!
