Jacnah Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 this This is Norwich, the side who have lost something like 7 on the bounce. We beat them at their place with De Laet and Schlupp as our full backs. We should be more than good enough to beat them. Call it arrogance, but it's the truth. If we slip up then it'll be because we were well below our standard and Norwich played well above theirs. We should be tonking these if we have aspirations of avoiding relegation let alone top4/the title. Good job you're not in charge, or doing the team talks Dont you think that this kind of post reflects an attitude that most people on here despise when we see it from fans of so called big clubs with an elitist attitude??

Fuchs played left back and Simpson right back so not sure where you've got that from. And surely we've learnt there's no easy games at this level. Norwich scrapping points will be difficult and i'm sure will defend deep and be difficult to breakdown. Of course we can win and probably should win at home but a bit silly to suggest we should be 'tonking' anyone. 1-0 or 4-0 i don't care but we need to be professional and not underestimate them. After all, i think a few sides did that to us last season and look what happened
MPH Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 I've not indicated otherwise. If we play as we have done all season then we'll win. It's that simple really. Well that's different to expecting to win.. and that IF is a big IF.. I could of course explain some physics as to how one of our players rightly/ wrongly can get sent off and how that can effect the game but i Don't have the time...

It's not an elitist attitude, it's confidence in your own abilities. If you don't think we're good enough to beat these at home then what are you watching? No they weren't.. Why shouldn't we be tonking them? They've got one of the worst away records, we've got one of the best. We absolutely should win and we should be comfortable. I'm not saying we should play the youth team or something. We should turn up with our usual 11, fresh after two weeks off, and hammer them. That is reality. If we want to finish top 4 or even win the league then we need to win this game.
NewquayFox Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 We will win and win well, mark my words..... Up the City....,,

And I'm confident we will win but as a lot of teams found out playing us (one of the supposed worst sides in the league) last season in the final third of the season it can be difficult. Redmond and Naismith are both good players and are capable of being dangerous. Just want a professional job and hopefully everyone to be in the right mindset after the Arsenal game, of which I'm sure they will be!
Thracian Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Gray was brought for the future I have no doubt about that. Would love to know how long it is going to take schlupp to develop like you say Gray needs to as I couldn't name you a more frustrating player in the squad to watch, he just switches off to easily and looks like he has no idea where he is or what he is meant to be doing! I don't doubt Gray is for the future but with Schlupp injured and clearly a way off returning we needed someone for now. Nor does anyone deny how frustrating Schlupp can be. But he is - or at least was - genuinely fast, extremely strong and often dangerous which are three important requirements in Premiership football. Gray has qualities, no question - his shooting technique and dead ball striking for a start. But he's not devastatingly quick in possession and is too easily muscled off the ball. He needs to have a word with Drinkwater because he's toughened up no end.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 16 February 2016 Posted 16 February 2016 Was is quite possibly the worst right back I have ever seen.if anyone went sheff weds away they will fully understand. Like Matt Elliott, I thought he did well (at Arsenal) until the 94th minute, when it all went tits up.

I'm yet to be convinced by Gray yet. Coming on in the position we were in on Sunday was difficult, but his workrate seemed a little underwhelming. There was a lot going on though, so I can't be too critical.

Bit harsh, he made a great last ditch tackle in the 18yd box to force a corner.
Callabinho Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Grays close control impresses me...he will improve as time goes on.
Ric Flair Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 I don't doubt Gray is for the future but with Schlupp injured and clearly a way off returning we needed someone for now. Why would a player sign to be potentially 6th choice winger just on the off chance that they'll get a game? We seldom get injuries and we are playing so consistently well that it's nigh on impossible to break in to our team. Dyer can't get any run of games for us and he came here as a pretty established PL player. Who would you have signed that is ' for the now ' who was a) available in January and b) would be happy to bide their time here. Sadly situations occur where you don't always have the immediate answers and replacements. I still think we're still in pretty good nick. Even with the right back situation a little surprising, De Laet obviously pushed for the move which has left us a bit short. I think Albrighton can play right back and would potentially be better there than some of his recent showings stuck out left. Gray seems to be keeping things simple at the minute whilst he learns about the PL. Considering how much skill and trickery he possesses he's obviously been told or is deciding to just play it safe right now and he's doing his job ok. All the games bar Arsenal in the league he's come on in winning positions and helped us see out the game nicely. Against Arsenal it was hugely difficult to get any positive impact going forward but there were a few times he ran the ball out of danger and his defensive work was decent as well. He's certainly not tearing it up yet but neither is he looking out of his depth.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Hopefully with the talent of our other wingers around him he will continue to progress and get better at this level. I've personally been impressed with him since his arrival at the club, I can notice the talent's there in the game's he's played and I think given time to adapt to this league he will continue to improve. If we look at how our stars this season Drinkwater, Morgan, Albrighton, Mahrez, Vardy etc they've all had a season in the Premier League. They've had that experience playing against high quality players and gaining a knowledge of the type of calibre the teams have in this division. I honestly think with Gray he will continue to improve and once he's had a season in the PL it will help him greatly I'd imagine. He has the potential to flourish just like the star players I have mentioned above, with patience and also support.
whoareyaaa Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Gray reminds me of when Marhez first came, you can see that he has the ability he just needs time to progress and become stronger and more intelligent.

foxes21 Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Gray seems like a confidence player. If we make champs league he will get a run of games when we have to rotate, I think that's when we will see him flourish. Right now its great he is learning our system and getting used to the league. I'm looking forward to seeing that Chilwell-Gray partnership.
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Made a couple of mistakes playing for the 21s the other night, I think he was playing at RB then. Hopefully it's just a case of him still settling in and playing with lads he doesn't know too well, we need to be 100% sure if we're going to throw him in next weekend.
Babylon Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Gray: 65 minutes against Spurs and for most of it looked our most dangerous player. 5 minutes against Villa 90 mins v spurs - where again most of the decent stuff came from his side with him and Chillwell 2 minutes v Stoke 11 minutes v Liverpool 13 minutes against Man City 30 minutes against Arsenal whilst we were down to ten men. Could a player had a more difficult start to his career here.
NewquayFox Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Looks a great prospect and played well for the U/21s the other night, great future ahead of him and getting some game time in really tough matches.... Up the City....
Dan Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Gray's only a kid. He's being eased in and he's looking fairly tidy in the process. No concern here even if his decision making is a bit off at times.
Itsthejoeker Posted 17 February 2016 Posted 17 February 2016 Could have sworn this was the Amartey thread

The big sides generally play the strongest side avaliable in the Prem and the Champions League. Players will just have to get used to playing more matches, I don't think the idea will be to rotate our squad, we'll just play the reserves in the League and FA Cup.

High intensity, lots of pressing, hard work, etc.. If we don't rotate we are going to burn out faster then the other teams.
