Controversial posibly but for me this is spending money for money's sake.

1. Unlike our other signings hardly one for the future. Not hungary or up and coming just a mercenary who can perhaps turn it on when he's in the mood.

2. Injury prone to say the very least and his only motivation is to perhaps get to the Euros for his last chance, then what? Back on the sick list to collect his huge wages like the past few years. Chances are it will be another spurious calf injury.

If we can't get the players that we really want at the moment then don't waste 10 million on this numpty just stick with what we've got before the club gets lumbered with a huge 3 year wage bill as well as the initial fee. There's a reason Chelsea have not been playing him, so much so when Costa was out they chose to play with without a recognised forward.

If he was as you describe, surely he would stay in cushy London, at Chelsea on his high wages until his contract runs out and the he gets a signing on bonus joining somewhere on a free? Maybe moving to China or middle east on a ridiculous wage.

If he is open to leaving that and joining us to play first team football, then that doesn't fit with what you say at all.

I think he's a classy player who can finish and his injury list isn't as bad as people make out. He has been out 6 times in 8 years and never for more than 35 days.

We need a striker who scores goals. He does that, wherever he goes and plays. Would prefer it to be on loan but for 10million, I still think it is a good deal for us.

He's leaving because he's got a last chance saloon effort at making it into the Euros or I think he would be prepared to sit his ass down on a well paid Chelsea subs bench. I don't think the 'odd' goal he'd score us as quoted in a post will make a difference to whether we get into Europe or not, we could sign lots of players for the potential 'odd' goal they might contribute like Charlie Austin for example or even keep Krameric. He simply isn't worth £10m plus a 3 year contract of several thousands a week in the hunt for the 'odd' goal. It would make better financial sense to meet the clause in Musa's contract albeit double the Remy asking price.

Why would he only score the "odd" goal??

He's scored 103 goals in 280 appearances.  Just turned 29. Scored 14 in 26 at Newcastle, the last team that gave him a run in the side

A loan would be the best option I believe. Good for us, good for Remy if he gets regular football before the euros, probably not good for Chelsea though. I think on loan he would be a good signing. A lot of risk with a permanent transfer though especially on a 3.5 year deal for example

"Now what of Loïc Rémy?

Answer: the player is still expected to join Premier League side Leicester City on a loan deal until the end of the season.

Leicester wanted to buy the player outright, but Rémy only wants to join a side on loan, no matter who, on loan until the end of the season.

Chelsea have told him that he is free to leave the club this month. Rémy was initially hesitant about a move to Leicester, because he was unsure as to whether or not he would be an undisputed starter with the Foxes during this campaign.

Rémy wants as much playing time as possible in order to give himself a chance of making Didier Deschamps's EURO 2016 squad, something that he has been given renewed hope of doing following Karim Benzema's suspension from the national team.

Rémy last night appeared to still be considering what his best options were, and this hesitation might give hope to the likes of Aston Villa, who have been chasing after the player in prolific fashion all transfer window. The Premier League strugglers would almost certainly guarantee Rémy a position in the starting line-up."

I can see his point, but Villa?

Guaranteed first team football at Villa, if not first class delivery!

I would be hesitant to sign him up if he starts kicking off about not getting first team football, which I could imagine, if he sees one of the few opportunities for the Euros slipping from his fingertips.

Is he better than an improving Shinji?

And is that implicit 'guarantee' good for the club? Could Ranieri say I'll pick you if you're the best in training and best for the match, but no guarantees, even if it ****s your chances at the Euros?

**** it, if I were Remi, and I weren't sure I'd get first team football here, but Villa promised it, and I thought Villa were a team on the up and could actually provide me with opportunities to score, I'd choose them.

If he does join us, at least he'd be hungry to impress for the Euros, and it's not like he's without a lot of skill that he couldn't demonstrate with.

Then we would get all the fans who have slated him on here saying we should of pushed for this transfer. Can see it happening!

I would be happy with Remy, what do you expect the guy today when he isn't happy at Chelsea & sits on the bench all the time. His goalscoring record for his time in the premier league speaks for itself.

Shinji is great but yes I do think Remy would be better than him and contribute more goals. Would Vardy and Remy work together though as many have wondered. Hard to say, but he is a goal scorer who is lightening quick, with a proven track record of scoring in the Prem. It's a risk worth taking I think. If he is crap in first few games and gets dropped, then I think a sulking Remy would be the least of the team's worries anyway, so don't think he would have negative impact that way either.

Exactly, fantastic post. The only person who gets it. He would be a huge mistake for us, it would cost us badly, I sense it. He would never work well with Vardy. Remy won't pass and to be honest he is crap.

But Cambiasso wasn't a mercenary was he? Ulloa was hardly young? Neither was Fuchs.. or Huth. All valuable contributors to the team who were probably in their peak and not likely to improve, so to speak....

We. Are . Aiming. For. Champions. League. Football. It ups the ante.

Good morning. Remy would be a great signing. He'd take the burden off vardy allowing us keep the attack a lot fresher.

Still think we need another top quality striker, proven winger, world class centre back and right back if we're to seriously challenge. All of the above to bolster the squad rather than walk into the team.

Have to be a busy day then!
