Loic Remy

"Chelsea will only sell Loic Remy in the final hours of today’s transfer window if they receive an offer that is too good to turn down. Leicester City and Newcastle United have shown an interest in Remy, but the Foxes have so far only discussed a loan move for the Frenchman.

A loan deal for Remy does not interest Chelsea, as the club are short of fit out-and-out strikers and would ideally prefer to keep the 29-year-old as part of their back-up options to Diego Costa.

Remy’s desire to move and play first-team football means Chelsea will consider a big bid for him, but, as yet, they have not received one. Newcastle could test Chelsea’s resolve if they finally give up on Saido Berahino, while Leicester must decide whether or not they want to push for a permanent transfer instead of a loan.

While Chelsea hold out for big money for Remy, the club have not yet ruled out the possibility of offloading Radamel Falcao today. Discussions over Falcao are continuing with his parent club Monaco regarding whether or not the Colombian’s season-long can be cut short. "

Well if we do make it to champions league there will need to certainly be a rethink on the wage structure

Don't you think pretty much all the players who got us there will get improved deals, in terms of wages anyway, as a reward?

I do.

I'm not being funny but Remy > Gayle, surely?

I agree but perhaps Gayle > Remy with fitness, work rate and team intergration.

Remy is the more exciting player but just trying to play devil's advocate if we do end up with Gayle...

There are more factors involved that just someones ability.

Babs do you really think Remy is that toxic?

Gayle maybe 25-30 k per week, Remy maybe 80+ k a week?

But that's the harsh reality of football nowadays. We have got to take this chance whilst we are presented with it.

The trouble we have as a club has always been taking that last risk which is why Cloughie said he would never join us.

To secure Champions League football (at least), a signing of Remy's calibre may be hugely important.

I'm in the rather have Gayle than Remy brigade. Remy doesn't give a shit. Just wants his pay cheque and that's that.

Where are people getting this idea from? Other than he tried to make it at Chelsea and like many, found he was not given enough chances to prove himself and now wants a move?

there comes a time when we are going to have to realise that Genuine champions league standard players will not be in our previous so called wage  cap. So we have two options. Keep the wage cap and small team mentality or blast through its roof...

Direct from somebody who works at LCFC . HAAAA !!!

A lot of people work at LCFC, I'd hazard only a small number have inside knowledge of transfers

I know there is a gulf in class, but last minute deadline day deals which aren't our first targets always worry me...

If he just wanted a pay cheque for nothing, he'd stay sitting on Chelsea's bench, as opposed to trying to get out on loan for playing time ready for the Euros.

Please can anybody provide me with evidence regarding Remy being a lazy money grabbing leech?

Because he went to QPR from Marseille, obviously to be lazy and get money (not to play in the Premier League), then went from QPR to Newcastle on loan because QPR couldn't afford to keep him when they were relegated (clear money grabbing again). Then get this, he went to Chelsea a CHAMPIONS LEAGUE TEAM AND WON THE LEAGUE WITH THEM.

All for the money. Not to further his career or anything.
