M'baye Niang

It is weird that media went heavy on us trying to get Niang yet we never even submitted a bid for him.

Makes it seem like there is something going on that they're working hard to keep quiet.

Slimani For me he's a proven record so if we are spending big he is definitely the one to go for as he is less of a risk than anyone else who We have been linked with, and we wanted him in the summer and surely we have more pulling power now

Agree with that.

Just goes to show that the media don't really have a clue. I should imagine a lot of these links come from enquiries we've made or players we've scouted possibly months ago, yet for whatever reasons we never followed up or progressed with and the media then try and guess what's happening once someone leaks it. For me it also shows the club are actively looking to improve the squad, asking about players availability, attitude ect, which we know the scouting team does with reference to Walshe's interview last year. Well planned methodical scouting for me, no panic or scattergun approach.

NIANG A NO GO FOR FOXES?

Leicester have apparently ended their interest in signing M'Baye Niang from AC Milan.

It has been reported the Foxes offered £12.2m for the forward, but Milan general manager Adriano Galliani told La Gazzetta dello Sportyesterday: “This morning, I spoke to their manager Claudio Ranieri and he told me that their internal discussions had led to them deciding to drop (their interest).

“I passed this on to the player and he said he was pleased to stay."

I wonder if this means they have secured someone else?

If nothing else it shows Claudio is hands on and speaking to people right now about business :)

Suggests we are closing in on someone else if that story is true about Claudio ending interest. This guy could have been plan B if we failed to get someone else etc.

Could be back in for him in the Summer though

Niang is nothing like Balotelli for one. Also, he was never going to you or anyone else. He's been a regular starter here, whilst Adriano is being touted to China, Balotelli possibly being recalled despite having played about 3 games all season and Menez is made of glass.

If those of a certain age can recall this fellow, Niang is like a quick Paolo Wanchope.
