bridport007 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 As supporters we worry that this can't continue for more than 1 league game. But that's because we've spent a lot of our lives watching us get beaten at home by the likes of Grimsby and Barnsley. Our players aren't burdened by things like that and they're better players than Man City Arsenal and Tottenham. We can win the Premier League this season and it will be the greatest moment in all our lives. Forget moon landings, marriages and the birth of your first child. This is the real thing. Excellent :-)
Alf Bentley Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Superb night - and goal of the season thrown in. Agree with most of what Thracian has just said. Fairly even first half, though we were the ones fashioning the clear chances. Kasper was rarely troubled. Liverpool didn't look bad first half, though: stretched us by playing it from one sideline to the other and sent some decent through balls between our centre backs that threatened danger. Shame about Huth's tendency to use his arms too much, as that was his best game for a while otherwise. He made about 3 crucial interventions in the first half, when we were stretched. The arm incident didn't look a nasty one on MOTD and the ref rightly let it go, but if he keeps doing that - and he's getting a reputation for it - then it's only a matter of time before he gets a red card, rightly or wrongly (opponents throwing themselves down, clutching their face etc.). Simpson worried me 1st half. He was playing so narrow - much narrower than usual, it seemed. I wondered if Ranieri had told him to stick narrow to guard against through balls or something? He looked vulnerable and was giving their bloke too much space. We nearly always seem to play better in the second half, don't we? Superb work from Vardy, not just because he looks so sharp in front of goal, but he shows great awareness of team-mates' movement, too (e.g. Shinji's chance). Shinji deserves a mention, again. He fought for the cause like a man possessed - and effectively, too. N'Golo started slowly tonight, but really came into his own and was so influential again, winning it and distributing, blocking their attacks....if he's not in the PFA Team of the Year, there's no justice. Loved that episode of slick inter-passing, but it's not the first time we've done stuff like that. There have been several other such episodes in recent games. Maybe not quite so good, but impressive. I wonder why we don't do that a bit more at times - particularly in the first half - as we still sometimes give the ball away too cheaply and invite pressure on ourselves. Fortunately, our defence suddenly became almost watertight 2-3 months back and has remained so. Not perfect, but pretty bloody impressive. Keep performing like that - or maybe even a bit better (this team is capable of improving still) - and given how erratic our rivals are this season, we have a real chance of something big. Team selection for Man City will be interesting now. I assume we'll still probably switch to 3 central midfielders (King in - or would we hazard a wild card gamble and chuck Amartey in? Probably not), but who'd drop out? Vardy and Shinji work so well together, providing a threat and disrupting the opposition build-up, that I wouldn't want Shinji to drop out. Albrighton, maybe? But then what formation would we play? 4-3-1-2, with Mahrez in a free role, or would that put too much pressure on our full-backs? If we're still in the game by the second half, I could imagine us switching back to 4-4-2 or 4-4-1-1 to try to pinch a win. Great times!
glenelgfox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 You wouldn't think Liverpool had an attacking player, and brought on another one, who each cost more than the XI we started tonight would you? Absolutely woeful up top they were. I cannot work out what anyone sees in Firmino. Until Benteke came on they basically played 3 midfielders up front. Never threatened Kaspar or the defence all night to be honest. Had to laugh when they continually played high crosses into the box and we cleared with ease all night. Played into our defensive hands. Their fans, commentators and experts banging on about bulk of possession against us but as we have seen all season that's how we roll and it works!

I didn't mean to sound critical of Huth's overall contribution. I thought he was immense and commented on the way home that just has this presence which seems to take the heart out of opponents. Times tonight he dealt with potentially awkward situations by intervening in the simplest but most emphatic manner. He reads the game so well and deals with everything so economically. I just think moment's of rashness let him down and might cost us dearly one day.
fazzyfox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Maybe the interviews were edited unfavourably but old Bratwurst Breath Klippedy Klop hasn't given an ounce of credit to our play. If his team shoot instead of pass and pass instead of shoot they win? They'd still have to deal with our attacking, I hear their back four are being treated for twisted blood after our Harlem Globetrotters on speed impression.

Guest seanfox778 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Leicester vs Liverpool 2-0 Highlights http://sportyhighlights.com/leicester-vs-liverpool-2-0-highlights/ That was just what I needed, was on a long haul flight so didn't know anything. Noticed the woman sat next to me had a Liverpool screen saver, it was a beautiful moment when I loaded up the score when we landed.
NewEnglandFox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 And that Lovren alone cost more than our starting 11.. You mean this guy? https://streamable.com/9srd
AyewJoking Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 the liverpool fan at work couldnt look me in the eye all night. not a word out of him. cócky fúcker was mockingly singing jamie vardy songs when they beat us at anfield. always makes out how he doesnt care how bad liverpool are this season as they arent klopps players and refuses to take leicester seriously. he was hurting tonight. Thanks Jamie.
Raj Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 There will be ALOT of crying Liverpool "fans" in Leicester today!!!! W@nkers!!!!
baldeagle Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Whilst everyone's talking about Liverpools expensive players let this sink in . Christian Benteke cost 32 times the amount of Jamie Vardy but Vardy has 3 times the amount of goals of him in the prem
Biggus Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Just watched the highlights. Mahrez features in most moves. Three decent shots. A sublime pass for Vardy's goal. Although not in the highlights he did another nutmeg on the edge of their box. He must flatter to deceive. Some criticism on here which I find hard to understand. He sometimes loses the ball when surrounded by three defenders, often he does not. Sometimes he loses the ball on the edge of the box when trying to create an attack, often he does not but creates assists. He is awesome and it's a privilege to watch him play for us. Perfection is being top of the league and beating good teams - seems that is not enough for some. Hey ho. .....and when are those big teams going to show up??
Merging Cultures Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Just watched the goals again (and again and again)... The first goal was obviously amazing. The second goal had some luck to it, to fall to Vardy as it did, but the finish was amazing too. He took it so calmly with his left, seeing Mignolet coming out, he placed it perfectly. What a game.
Koke Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Don't know if anyone else has mentioned it but we've conceded 1 goal in the last 6 games (Villa away). Great stuff. Huth need to be careful with his elbows. He planted one in Lallana's face last night.

Huth need to be careful with his elbows. He planted one in Lallana's face last night. Serves him right for that cringe skincare advert. Incredible performance once again capped with a wonderstrike, is this bubble bursting or what?
what? Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Watched the game in a Berlin bar last night, surrounded by Liverpool/Klopp fans. I'd been sick all day and I tell you, that first goal going in did more than all the paracetamol and ibuprofen I'd quaffed in the preceding 24 hours. Absolutely stunning. Silence around me (apart from me coughing and cheering) and then impressed applause. Vardy, Mahrez, Kante, everyone on fire. Never felt stressed or worried when Liverpool had all the possession. You just knew we'd take our chances when we got them. Can any recommend a kodi addon that will have a full replay? I'd love to watch the full thing again and I can't find one so far.
09bballer Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Allegedly the bubble will burst when we play a "big" team. 1 conceded in 6 is amazing! Such a brilliant team performance last night. Hope the 3 Liverpool fans sat on the row in front really enjoyed our extra volume, serves you right.
ARM1968 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Mate who is a massive liverpool fan rang me after the match and actually said he was glad we won and that we should now go on and win the title. Vardy and the whe team were sensational. Marehz's first time shot would have been unreal but for that save by Mongolet.
glenelgfox Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 I watched the game live and gave it to a Liverpool supporting mate post match who didn't see it (big noter but never watches them apart from 30 sec news grabs) and he proceeded to rattle off the possession stats and without seeing the match and then tells me Liverpool created and had the better chances based on god knows what??? I managed to force him to watch a full replay this afternoon and he sat there in stunned silence and at the end admitted he had no clue and we were the deserving winners although he thinks Vardy got lucky with both his goals! In response to his better chances comments all I could find was Fuchs heading over Kaspar's goal as their closest chance which I forced him to watch twice.
Socks Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Some of these posts remind me of the season we won the Championship and got promoted I was living in Grottingham at the time. The Monday after I went into work and I get to my desk and there was a little plastic statue of Cloughy (the one in the market square) with a post-it note stuck to the bottom just reading "2 European Championships"... anyhoo back to the subject, great win, didn't think we would win tbh, Vardys goal is the best this season, better then Ali's, etc Sigurdsson nearly scored the same goal for the Swans last night too if you watched MOTD What I'm happy about is how fired up and up for it Vards looks, he looks really fit and back to his best last night, he just looked like he was loving every minute of it.... get him on a 3-year NOW!! Mahrez was a bit dissapointing, just kept fluffing is moves up hope he picks it up.... otherwise I'd play grey and albrighton for a few games and have him on the bench
Bryn Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Not having that, Mahrez looks to split the defence every time he gets the ball, sure he ****s it up most of the time but what does that leave you with? He's narrowly missed with 3 long range efforts and created at least 2 or 3 clear cut chances. Not to mention a great, albeit unexpected, assist. Undroppable.
Koke Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Mahrez was a bit dissapointing, just kept fluffing is moves up hope he picks it up.... otherwise I'd play grey and albrighton for a few games and have him on the bench His decision makings are erratic. I know it's crazy to say that when he's got 13 goals and 9 assists, but ever since we lost at Anfield his decision makings has infuriated me. He keeps the ball for longer than he should and he tries to over complicate simple things. His general play has gradually improved though since the Bournemouth game. He's due a match winning goal soon though. Hopefully it will come on Saturday.
foxes161 Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 Great coming to work and all everybody is talking about is Vardy goal awesome
David Hankey Posted 3 February 2016 Posted 3 February 2016 This was a terrific and well deserved win for City and sets us up nicely for Saturday's encounter with Man City.
