st albans fox Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 FoxesTalk once again proving it knows nothing about Goalkeeping. No keeper is saving that free kick. Thank God I didn't read the previous 11 pages! Tbh, I knew there would be some numpties pointing the finger over it. Clueless.
ImBlue Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 He could have headed it across goal beyond their keeper's or defender's reach. Ulloa and King were unmarked at the far post. But I can understand he went for it himself, which overall I'm OK with. After all, Vardy took an audacious shot with Okazaki being unmarked in the middle and it paid off! Passing to Okazaki unmarked is audacious if we're honest..
shen Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 looks like west brom are the new arsenal on here . Find it hard to slate them myself if you play negative, not that I thought they did esp compared to Norwich who many "felt sorry for" mainly because we ended up beating them, and still manage to score two goals then can't say fairer than that. Embarrassing really we fell the need to take dropping points out on the opposition, one sad thing about this season as I've said before is some of our support have really developed top four arrogance. I thought we were brilliant, could easily of won but that's football, play like that I doubt every other side will be able to combine good defending luck and a sublime free kick to take points off us, on to the next one. They tried to do what we've done to many other teams this season. Rondon's goal was a typical Vardy goal! They didn't get out of their half during the last 40 minutes because we didn't allow them to. By the end they lookered utterly knackered from chasing shadows and desperately attempting to get in the way of things. We were frantic, much like Arsenal were during that second half, and I fully expected us to cash in.
Staffs Fox Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 We played so well yesterday but it's just one of those things, West Brom took one of their chances and scored a great free kick, we battered them otherwise. I don't have a gripe with any players performace, although I'd like to see a replay of Gardeners free kick because from where I was sat it just seem to float straight in, in the exact place you'd expect but Schmeichel didn't move, might be being harsh there but I've only seen it once These games happen and maybe 4 points from the two games is what we deserve based on both performances. In a couple of similar games this season we've come away with all 3 points (West Brom Away, Palace Home, Watford Home etc) so we can't be too disheartened when it doesn't 100% go our way for once, One thing it did do when emphasise just how much when need a 2nd goalscorer, Okazaki and Ulloa could have had 5 between them last night. I know Ullow bailed us out at the weekend but consistency is key
shen Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 Passing to Okazaki unmarked is audacious if we're honest.. Yeah, I get the Okazaki hate. He's not a great finisher, but he had one of his best games yesterday otherwise. Vardy was under less pressure for his chances though, which is even more disappointing, knowing what he's accomplished this season already...

Yet has contributed to more goals (3 goals + 2 assists) than Okazaki (4 goals + ZERO assists) 0 assists 28 league games in for our link up striker.. And not a single home goal.. Let that sink in.

Let's not butter it up, his finishing is utterly atrocious. Of his 4 goals, Everton is the only one that he hasn't had to have a second bite at the cherry!
Biggus Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 I enjoyed the game last night. Best performances: Albrighton - great crosses, Drinkwater - magnificent, Morgan- immense in defence and attack, Mahrez - just fantastic to watch, Vardy - back to his best closing down approach, Fuchs - great. I just cannot comprehend the criticism of Mahrez - careful what you wish for. Just a comment on the support - I sat in SK2 for this game. I normally get into SK1. Can't wait to go back there - far more positive environment.
shen Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 A bit unkind. He set up King's goal with an imaginative pass and was forever trying to make something happen despite being closely tethered. Made one specific mistake in trying a totally unnecessary spectacular when he could have headed the ball across the goalmouth for what might have been a golden chance. Mahrez's great strength is his willingness to keep trying things no matter how well or badly his game is going. Another assist last night only emphasised the value of that attitude. There were plenty of other missed opportunities - Shinji's being arguably the worst early on with what was no more than a tap in for any kind of natural striker. Then there were the headers which hit the bar and so much more. Dramatic near misses but both should have been goals and along with Ulloa's failure to tap in at the death just reminded us of how badly we need another instinctive finisher. The game could have ended 7-4 or something ridiculous but we deserved enormous credit for creating so many chances and for trying everything to fashion a win apart from losing some momentum and going a bit negative when 2-1 ahead. Overall though, what a cracking match between two teams which got on with it apart from the one big complaint to the referee for an appalling tackle by Fuchs. Clattenburg for me was excellent, letting a hard-fought game flow when possible and refusing to over dramatise. Another game unbeaten, lots of effort and opportunities, a goal and assist for my MoM Kingy to keep his constant knockers in their place and a few performances which were unusually a little below par including Kasper, Shinji, Fuchs and Huth. Altogether though another valuable point, another game unbeaten and absolutely super entertainment. Nice to hear Pulis compliment our approach and say he'd love to see us win it. How is Shinji's chance with his back to goal having to do a Zlatan-esque flick with the outside of his boot a bigger chance than Vardy having all the space and time in the world only to hit it straight at the keeper both times?
shen Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 Not great? Let's not butter it up, his finishing is utterly atrocious. Of his 4 goals, Everton is the only one that he hasn't had to have a second bite at the cherry! Yes, I get it and I acknowledged it already numerous times in this thread. How many times are you going to point out the bleeding obvious? And how many times are you going to ignore that our 'super striker' missed easier chances than Shinji did yesterday ... ?!

Birmingham fox Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 As much as I admire okazaki's work rate and energy, it's a concern that he has yet to score at home this season. In games like the last two when we have dominated possession and especially last night when we have had chance after chance against teams sitting deep we could have done with a poacher off the bench in last 20 mins
M0901 Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 5 shots on target from 22, shows are striking was off today!! Saying that we had alot of possesions and 22 shits shows we can can dominate teams and create chances Haha, shits...
Ricey Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 Okazaki's link-up play was very good last night, but as a Premier League striker you have to be scoring at least one of those chances. Simple as that. Last night was mega frustrating, BUT we, probably more than any other team, often really struggle against teams that park the bus. it kills our main threat and usual game plan. Yet, two teams have done it in quick succession and we've taken 4 points. I can't see Newcastle, Southampton, Swansea, West Ham or Everton coming to the KP and parking the bus to that extent.

You cannot have a good game overall as a striker if you miss 4 sitters. And it's not a one off. The bloke has not scored at home all season has he? Let's put that in context. He's a striker in the highest scoring team who are also top of the league. I can't complain about his industry, but his finishing is of a school boy standard, and that's being generous. That is why some of us were begging for a quality player to come in January to help JV out. Not to do it for an extra 3 or 4 million quid was daft, when we have a chance of a lifetime opportunity.

Yes 9 times out of 10 games like last night we score four....UNLESS the chances fall to Oka! I do like him but I can't say I'd be confident if that were to happen again in the games you mention, after last night's exhibition of how to not score goals.
Mapperleyfox Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 We were excellent last night, couldn't get the vital goal but this can happen. Poor on Saturday and got out of jail... Loads of good, slick football, hungry players closing down (Vardy's appetite to win the ball on the left in the second half alone was worth entrance fee on its own), patient build up. One of our best performances of the season. On another night we score 5 or 6 and it's a rout. For those social media obsessed knee jerkers on here criticising Vardy's finishing or Mahrez's end product or whatever - you're either a know-nowt teenager or you've discovered Leicester City exist in the last year. Be careful - you could be watching Barry Hayles or John Curtis or Stephen Hughes, so enjoy the ride.

Okazaki is not much of a goalscorer, and that's a problem in a 2nd striker. I love his work rate, his link-up play and all round attitude, but his lack of a decent shot and his tendency to get knocked off the ball are major negatives. As neither Kante nor Drinkwater are regular scorers either, it means we're heavily reliant on a few players to get us goals.
Captain... Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 Unfortunately I wasn't at the game last night, what was the reaction like at the final whistle? I loved the roar when we conceded, both times (something I'd missed with our superb home defence form), and I hope the players got a good reception going off the pitch, I'm thinking back to the reception they got after the Spurs home game last year where we did everything but score in the last half an hour and were superb and despite the defeat got a standing ovation going off. Last night was similar in many ways.
daddylonglegs Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 How is Shinji's chance with his back to goal having to do a Zlatan-esque flick with the outside of his boot a bigger chance than Vardy having all the space and time in the world only to hit it straight at the keeper both times? Did he really have to do the flick though? If he'd have tried any other method of shooting it surely would have been on target or at least not over the bar from 4 yards out!

filbertway Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 I think that left foot shot summed up Shinji's finishing ability haha. Looked like someone playing 5 a side with their mates and trying a shot with their weaker foot for a laugh. I'd like us to pick up a couple of quality strikers in the summer. Both have contributed to us, Okazaki especially considering all of his starts. It'd be nice to be confident that your players will take chances that come their way. We won't have a better chance to pick up players of this calibre than this summer.
Babylon Posted 2 March 2016 Posted 2 March 2016 Disappointing, but also encouraging that we put in a decent display. We looked all over the place at the back without Kante being around to mop up though. Could have been 8-0 another day, lets hope we have more "other days" than ones like that.
