ImBlue Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Where as ulloa was the dictionary definition of clinical. Can't come on and score inside 15 minutes every week. Didn't get the sitters Okazaki got. He did last week though, and we know where it ended up..
Larry_LCFC Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Been very impressed with Jeff since he came back. A powerful attacking threat.
shen Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Perhaps - but if you can find one controversial or 'grudge worthy' thing I've said in my post then I'll hold my hands up, but surely you can agree that his kicking and the way he supports his defenders isn't great. I completely agree that he can't do anything about either goal. Gardener's free kick would have gone in if two keepers were in goal Well I find it controversial that you single him out for criticism when you admit he's not at fault for either goal. How much did Foster create with his kicks and throws then? He made one simply brilliant kick to Schlupp when we were chasing a winner which had us in a 3 on 4. Not many keepers have the skill to pull that off. He was sensible with short passes at other times. I STRONGLY disagree that he doesn't support his defenders. Look how bloody nervous Huth is when he gets the ball to feet. He's itching to pass it back to Schmeichel any time an opposition player is within 10 yards of him and Schmeichel is very very reliable at clearing the ball effectively. It's true that he's not great at commanding his box, but when have we last conceded from a cross? To me it seems very clear that all four defenders know exactly when to go for the ball and, more notably, when Kasper will come for the ball. We have improved no end in this area over the past 15 games.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 A tremendous effort from every player in the blue shirt tonight. The players never gave up and continued to try and get a winner until the final whistle. Those chances we had I really thought were heading into the back of the net, so close. And although we came near to a win, it's another point gained in this fantastic season. As for West Brom their free kick was a super effort, the accuracy and curl on the ball was sensational. I thought defensively they were very good tonight, and as a unit they were well organised. I'd say it is a decent point for them, fair play. It was overall an entertaining game of football, plenty of goals and action. Great strike from Andy King to put us into the lead at half time. It was such a quality goal from him, and tonight he slotted in perfectly alongside Drinkwater. He was good all night, and that's why I like him so much because he's just such a classy player whenever he's required to play. As a pair, him and Drinky played impressively again. We move onto Saturday. To conclude the atmosphere tonight was absolutely immense. One of the best all season certainly in SK1 anyway. Even when we were losing, the fans stayed right behind the team, chanting and singing. As did the players, we never gave up and the crowd supported the lads right until the final whistle was blown.
ithuriel Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 We could have won that, maybe should have but WBA are a very good set piece team and were dangerous with their free kicks and corners and we are not going to win every match but a draw is still a point.
Fatty Arbuckle Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 I really didn't see what Gray offered, he put some average crosses in, I would have preferred Albrighton to stay onI don't see what Gray offers at all, not just tonight. I'm not necessarily having a pop at him, I'm sure he will turn out to be a really good player but I've seen absolutely nothing to suggest he will contribute anything to a team trying to win the premier league this season.I've been told I'm far too negative tonight for saying stuff like that, but I'd love to hear someone tell me what he does offer. And I mean right now, not next year. Now isn't the time to be blooding youngsters for the future!
foxinsox Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 It was cruel how Okazaki didn't get his home goal. He played very well. Some brilliant work holding the ball up and sharp passing. He should start against Watford. Kasper was poor tonight and an uncharacteristically poor performance by Huth and Fuchs. I wonder if Chilwell deserves a start over Fuchs for Watford. Fuchs was poor against Norwich too. He took a few knocks tonight also. Despite it being a draw it was a great game of football and a much better performance than against Norwich. Trust in the Thinkerman to have a plan for Watford.
yorkie1999 Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 we can't change the past though. our owners could easily have employed pulis and as a 21 year old we could easily have been looking to finish 16th every year until I either give up on football, kill myself or die of natural causes. but we didn't. we want to win games. we want to achieve something. maybe not achieve but at least f ucking do something. enjoy 41 points again this year. and next. and the one after. enjoy yous 0-0s. your 6 centre backs and your fu cking cvnt of a manager in his cvnt of a cap. And enjoy watching the prem money go in peaces back pocket
4everfox Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 We deserved to win but we didn't. I'm pleased with the performance from the lads. Watford next up who will play right into our hands being at home. Spurs to draw twice in a row and us to be four points clear come Sunday. Come on you foxes!
J.Lisemore Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Okazaki's all round play was brilliant again, but his finishing is just abysmal. I honestly don't know how he's scored so many goals in his career.
GlennyFox55 Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 In the fa cup gray was amazing always ran at the defence. Think he's abit nervous when he comes on into a big game. More experience and he should be a top player.
easilee Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Take note Spurs and Arsenal players and fans !! No shouting and screaming at the ref, trying to get players sent off. Fair play to West Brom. Frustrated us without overly shutting up shop which is what we are going to get a lot of in coming matches. Still think we should start Ulloa rather than Shinji. Shinji is too erratic and has no eye for goal but would be excellent as an impact player after we have the lead.
SecretPro Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Can't see how anybody wants to pick Ulloa over Shinji. Ridiculous.
ImBlue Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Can't see how anybody wants to pick Ulloa over Shinji. Ridiculous. They like to see goals? And he hasn't scored a single goal at home yet?
fuchsntf Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Watching that free kick go in, shades of Burnley last season, Schmeichel gave him plenty to aim at. Good strike but made easier by starting position and his foot work is to move to his left too. The Wall should cover that side, but he still tried to be near the center..rubbish about Burnley comparison..
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Can't come on and score inside 15 minutes every week. Didn't get the sitters Okazaki got. He did last week though, and we know where it ended up.. Clearly not, given he's done it twice all season. And his record when starting is just as bad, especially when considering his general performance is normally sub par bar a handful of games goal or no goal. You want to think the grass is greener that's your progotive but a see a side top of the league and its side Okazaki starts in and ulloa does not.
Dan Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Entirely our own doing, They were absolutely awful, there for the taking, but we didn't take enough of our chances and they took the only two they got all game. Incredibly frustrating, but not all that surprising. Funny old game, football. We were far better than we were Saturday, and they were worse than Norwich too. Handed Spurs the initiative, sickeningly.
Wolfox Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 We battered them 2-2 Much better performance than Norwich Played very well at times It's just the way it goes, sometimes you get the rub of the green and sometimes you don't... I'm not too disheartened at all...
SecretPro Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 They like to see goals? And he hasn't scored a single goal at home yet? If Shinji and Ulloa both played 90 minutes I know who I'd rather have on my time. The difference in work rate, sacrifice, closing down, pace is immense. Ulloa is fine as an impact player offering a different option and he gets goals that way but NO WAY ON EARTH I'd pick him to start ahead of Shinji. Ulloa is ridiculously slow, never closes down, spends far too much time on the floor and not winning headers for someone of his size and generally just spends a lot of time bumbling around.
Jfox90 Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Very entertaining game which we deserved to win and im gutted we didnt...but thats football i guess, play 3 times better than againist norwich yet we dont get the 3 points....the crossbar, foster and 2 mistakes were the only things preventing a 4 nil win....althought a draw at this point may seem asenine i think the performance warrants encouragement..especially without king kante. Morgan, drinkwater and king were the standout for me tonight
J.Lisemore Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Silly to suggest that Ulloa should start ahead of Okazaki due to what he offres to our successful style of play. Ulloa is a plan B, simple as that.
easilee Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Can't see how anybody wants to pick Ulloa over Shinji. Ridiculous. Just tired of seeing him not hit anywhere near the goal unless it rebounds off the bar, onto an oppo player, then off his boot onto his chin only to score a goal that has us all wondering if it's a goal or not. Don't get me wrong, Shinji offers more in terms of harassing and workrate but we need to get early goals and force teams to play the way we want them to play. Leo offers more hope of an early goal than Shinji at the moment I think. Would rather see crosses into the box with Ulloa on the end of them, and in the 2nd half bring on Shinji to really do their heads in.
chicagofox Posted 1 March 2016 Posted 1 March 2016 Silly to suggest that Ulloa should start ahead of Okazaki due to what he offres to our successful style of play. Ulloa is a plan B, simple as that. He very rarely looks like offering a goal though.
