Steve Walsh and Craig Shakespeare urged to sign new deals

I thought if NP got a job quickly, these guys would be off with him.

But, we are top of the league, CR is a lovely bloke, they will be offered very generous deals and when NP gets a new job, it will be somewhere like Villa, in the Championship. The guys might like a challenge, but the only way they would leave would be to either move in to management or to be assistant/head of recruitment at a 'big club'.

Exactly... They have it made here, they are well respected by everyone at the club and they have highly secure jobs. I'm sure they will be offered rather nice contracts too

Rob Dorsett looking for a story as Claudio keeps swatting him away politely every time winning the league comes up :) Claudio hears a question not related to winning the league, he throws a bone and Rob runs after it wagging his tail. The Don is a master of deflection :)

The NP spectre has dwindled to nothing now imo ...   the big danger is other clubs that have been analysing our success and want to get their hands on our prize assets (oooh matron!) ....    good time to try and pin them down ...   fingers crossed.

Agreed, we're more likely to lose them to Arsenal/Chelsea/Tottenham than we are to whichever struggling club NP turns up at.

I don't think it has at all to be honest, there could be some pretty big teams getting relegated this season. Looking for a man who fits Pearson's bill, clearing out, restructuring etc. They could look at it that it's about as far as we can go, and see a project like Villa as interesting and clearly they like Pearson.  On the flip side, more money, more money to buy players, probable champions league football next season.

If they get tied up pretty quickly then I think there won't be an issue, if there is nothing sorted until the summer, then there might be.

Very important these 2 are sihned up on watertight contracts, Raneri knows it im sure the owners do, i would imagine the players would welcome it as would the fans, not too concerned about NP poaching, these 2 must be responsible for helping create the winning/team bonding/morale, together with keyplayers eg Kasper Wes Drinky and Vards

No you're right and I would have changed that bit to  'much less of a spectre now'  if someone hadn't been ringing my doorbell.  The bigger danger to me are the 'big' clubs and like you say if this hasn't been sorted by the summer I would fear the worst.

Very important to our success.

I have a feeling Pearson isn't getting another job as he's unable to take these two along.

Think Claudio said on sky they should get the same contract as him. Surely they cant turn that down!

Really? Jesus Christ, this man is almost Jesus Christ.

It's a strange one. If Claudio gets the Italian job next season a new manager might not want them here. Who knows?

I doubt they'd appoint someone who had the intention of tearing up what's been built behind the scenes. Seems like Shakespeare and Walsh are both valued extremely highly by everyone at the club, and it looks like the people who run our club really do know what they're doing. I'm guessing any new manager would have to fit into OUR framework?

Anyway, i really hope they stay
