Fox92 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 He's got good technique but he's too often a passenger. The more I think about it the more I think Albrighton's unlucky to not be in. Our wide options are terrible. I agree. Just been talking about this in the England thread - our lack of wingers suggests some of those forwards (*cough Vardy*) will be played wide.
bluesbrothers Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Can only echo the sentiment that Noble deserved a call-up too. Feel for Hammers fans, they've got some great players.Nonetheless, big big international break for us - I'll be following Gray and Chilwell in the U21s too!
Guest Col city fan Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Good. More than deserves it and let's hope Woy takes him to France.
Littletoe Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Can't believe he's managed to do it and deservedly so! Extremely proud to have 2 of our lads in the England setup. Imagine Drinkwater pinging a pass to Vardy to score a winner vs Germany? Just imagine..... How has James Milner, Jordan Henderson and Theo Walcott got into this squad, I will never know!!!!!
AyewJoking Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 “What he has done has been pretty evident to everybody,” the England coach Roy Hodgson said. “He’s had a fantastic season in a team that’s having a fantastic season. “In that area of the field the competition is quite fierce. On this occasion I thought it was an opportunity to bring him in and see if he can reproduce the type of football he’s shown for Leicester at international level.” I found those comments a little patronising but whatever, at least he's been called up. I fully expect Wilshere to be out of his wheel chair by the time the tournament comes along anyway.

Roy is saying that like he thinks Drinky is just in good form but isn't top quality. So annoying! It's still that snobbish thing of, your not in a standard top 4 team so you can't be top quality.
Wymsey Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Excellent. Shame Albrighton isn't there either, very under-rated.
themightyfin Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 No. Heskey's first call up was about a year after Guppy got his only cap. Possibly looking as far back as the 70s to find this? You had a mare mate. It was Heskey and Guppy
Voll Blau Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 You had a mare mate. It was Heskey and Guppy Fair enough. EDIT: Had no idea Heskey came on as a sub in that game.
HighPeakFox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 I felt for Guppy. That one cap was utter lip service by Keegan, you just knew he didn't care how he played, that would be it.
Voll Blau Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 I felt for Guppy. That one cap was utter lip device by Keegan, you just knew he didn't care how he played, that would be it. At a time when he was the only man in the country with a left peg too. And it was at Sunderland, he didn't even get to play at Wembley!
MPH Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Crikey. When was the last time we had TWO players in the England set up? and when was the last time Two Leicester players played for England in the same game?
kingfox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 The days of calling Drinkwater shit are long gone, what a turnaround. No doubt come Euro 2016, Fabian Delph will get in ahead of him though. As for the rest of the squad, Hodgson is so biased when it comes to Liverpool players it's becoming embarrassing. Noble, Antonio & Deeney should all be in, Henderson, Milner & Lallana are a bunch of wasters.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Well deserved. He is playing consistently well this season, and had improved vastly.
shen Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 So Drinkwater gets a call-up to the England squad, yet people are still lambasting Hodgson for tactics and selections he hasn't even made yet! The guy just cannot catch a break at all. One gets the feeling that the England job basically turns anyone into a dead man walking.
Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted by Sharpe's Fox on 11 January 2014 - 02:53 PM In a couple of years Drinky will be packing for Euro 2016 and find an old pair of LCFC shorts in the back of the wardrobe, shaking out the pockets out will come a Chupa Chup lolly, a 20 pence piece and Craig Bryson. A post I made after we smashed Derby in the promotion season.

There are still some questionable selections to be honest, Noble should certainly be in. Henderson and lallana getting in certainly are strange calls. Anyway the proof is in the pudding and if we have a good tournament then Roy has made the right choices, if it ends like 2014 then yet again he has failed badly. Especially if he leaves certain players out for ones that aren't in form , injured or barely played
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 As similarly to Kante, congrats to Danny for this England call up. He has been class in the CM for us in this campaign. Excellent player.

daddylonglegs Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Genuinely. Imagine being Theo Walcott. You know that it is completely irrelevant how you perform for the rest of the season you'll still be on the plane to the Euro's and would have pocketed another million or so whilst doing absolutely nothing.
AKCJ Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 All credit has to go to Drinkwater. You can tell with his recent performances that he wants to drag this team to the title and himself to the Euros. Absolutely sensational attitude. He sums up Leicester City perfectly.
