Captain... Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Hodgson for me needs to use these friendlies to find a Plan B. If he insists on playing with a loan striker as Plan A then so be it. Don't bother taking Vardy if you don't play to his strengths. Would love to see a 4-4-2 with Kane and Vardy up front and Drinky in the centre with Barkley/Alli. I think the loan window is closed for internationals...
Xen Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 If they play together, I can see Drinky assisting Vardy for his first England goal. Drinky will be one of the only people there who actually gets how Vardy plays and knows exactly the kind of balls that need to be played up to him. However, I fear its a lot more likely that Hodgson will start Vardy (begrudgingly) and bring Danny on after 75 minutes for his fellow fox. A pointless endeavour in the end.
kingcarr21 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 I think the loan window is closed for internationals... took me a minute to think what the hell you were on about. LONE striker you awkward git
GingerrrFox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Hart Clyne Dier Smalling Baines Drinkwater Alli Sterling Barkley Vardy Kane (4-4-2 Diamond)
goose2010 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Great news for Drinkwater but there is some utter shite in that squad that don't deserve their place. Albrighton and Simpson should feel hard done by.
ScouseFox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 If they play together, I can see Drinky assisting Vardy for his first England goal. Drinky will be one of the only people there who actually gets how Vardy plays and knows exactly the kind of balls that need to be played up to him. he won't be allowed to play that way. just like vardy's never been allowed to play up front, let alone play a role where he can damage anyone by running in behind. drinkwater will be told to sit, pass it sideways and retain possession. he'll be lambasted by manager, teammates, fans and the media if he plays central midfield for england and ends up with a 65-70% pass completion because he's trying to make things happen.
EnderbyFox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Great to see Danny make it. Bloody Walcott though, he's absolutely shite
daddylonglegs Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Delighted about Drinkwater but the consistent picking of Walcott and Welbeck, regardless of form is absolutely criminal by Hodgson.
Jaspa Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Get in! Think with Vardy having put his boot through the door we should get in a few more of our lads in and will have a more direct route into Roys plans similar to how when Southampton got Lallana in you saw Clyne, Rodriguez and even Ricky Lambert make it into the squad, its another incentive for Albrighton/Simpson to set their standards and put even more in, probably even better news for Chilwell and Grey to really kick on and listen to Vards/Drinky on what goes on with the Internationals. Im not saying hes had it easy in getting into the squad at all here its all been earned. Should get a run out with the pair of them together in either a 4-3-3 or our 4-4-2, Vardy is going to have to fight for a striker spot I feel, pop a few more in and take the Golden Boot and its surely his
Voll Blau Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Wild guess but maybe Heskey and Guppy? No. Heskey's first call up was about a year after Guppy got his only cap. Possibly looking as far back as the 70s to find this?
FoxFossil Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Well done Danny, well deserved. Cruching tackle on Harry Kane by accident?? Vardy on to beat the Germans. Perfect day.
Tuna Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Guy on talkshite going on about how instrumental drinky was on us staying up last season. You what!!!??? Love drinky and well done to him but hate lazy journalism!
Bob Weasel Fox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 The most deserved call up in years The usual if he had played for spuds/Man U/man c/arsewipe/Liverpool etc he would of been capped ages ago
Footballwipe Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Wild guess but maybe Heskey and Guppy? Correct http://www.englandfootballonline.com/Seas1990-00/1999-00/M0762Bel1999.html
Fox92 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Delighted about Drinkwater but the consistent picking of Walcott and Welbeck, regardless of form is absolutely criminal by Hodgson. And Lallana.
stevelcfc Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Get in Danny my son! Well deserved. Surely Noble deserved a call. Personally would have given Antonio a call too.
huddersfieldfox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Well done deserved because of his hard work. I'm glad he has been noticed
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Brilliant and deserved for DD but how Mark Noble was not in there too is just mad.
Captain... Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 took me a minute to think what the hell you were on about. LONE striker you awkward git pretty cool stat That and the fact the Drinkwater has made the most tackles by an English midfielder and he only has 4 assists and 1 goal (apparently that isn't good enough for England) menas that Hodgson will see him as a defensive midfielder, probably employ him in the midfield 2 of his old fashioned 4231 formation. That could work if he was alongside Henderson screening the back 4 and filling the gaps left by the attacking players. Henderson Drinkwater Sterling --- Barkley --- Vardy Kane Doesn't look that bad, maybe Lallana instead of Sterling, based on recent form. Henderson Drinkwater Lallana --- Barkley --- Vardy Kane Then a quick switch to a midfield Diamond Henderson Lallana ---- Drinkwater Barkley Kane -- Vardy Or one sub to make an attacking 442 Lallana Henderson Drinkwater Sterling Kane -- Vardy Or 433 Lallana -- Henderson -- Drinkwater Walcott -- Kane -- Vardy
Dan Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 And Lallana. Yep. I used to like him a lot when he was at Southampton but he's been painfully average since going to Liverpool.
Fox92 Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 Yep. I used to like him a lot when he was at Southampton but he's been painfully average since going to Liverpool. I don't rate Lallana at all and his £25million fee is still laughable.
Dan Posted 17 March 2016 Posted 17 March 2016 I don't rate Lallana at all and his £25million fee is still laughable. He's got good technique but he's too often a passenger. The more I think about it the more I think Albrighton's unlucky to not be in. Our wide options are terrible.
