Leicesterpool Posted 18 March 2016 Posted 18 March 2016 Think Eddie Howe is potentially one of the greats, but too young at present for the England job. Yeah probably right needs to have the experience of managing a bigger club before managing England. Though put it this way I'd rather have him than Neville, Neville is so vastly overrated and proving it in Spain at the moment. He's been awful with Valencia. People may laugh but I wouldn't mind seeing Jurgen Klinsmann giving the chance, for one done a decent job with Germany and the USA. Also has the experience of playing in England, ticks all the boxes for me. Speaks good English to and is a well respected figure.

Thats a cheeky and unfair swipe on Neville.Valencia had problems beforehand. Its his 1st job. I am sure you wouldnt want to be judged on your 1st steps into a new career..
Dan Posted 19 March 2016 Posted 19 March 2016 It'll be someone like Southgate. A nice bloke but ultimately no-one who inspires any really emotion about the England team. That's the FA to a tee. Conservatism, play-safe. Eddie Howe is about the only English one I could see deservedly taking it in future but the time isn't now, or after the Euros. I think he's a good manager though, a forward thinker.
kushiro Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 There's a passage in Eamon Dunphy's book 'Only a Game?' where he's talking about his relationship with his central midfield partner. It sounds just like the chemistry that Drinkwater and Kante have between them: "When you share a job with somebody in football, a relationship develops between you. It's a form of expression - you are communicating as much as if you are making love to somebody. If you take two players who work together in midfield, say, they will know each other through football as intimately as any two lovers. It's a very close relationship you build when you are resolving problems together, trying to create situations together. It's an unspoken relationship, but your movement speaks, your game speaks. The kind of pass you give each other, the kind of situations you set up together, speak for you. You don't necessarily become closer in a social sense, but you develop a close unspoken understanding." You could apply this to our team as a whole, really, but Drinkwater and Kante in particular seem to have this kind of connection. (If anyone's stuck for something to do in the two weeks before the Southampton game, get hold of that book - it's wonderful.)
AKCJ Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Currently the best English midfielder and by a decent distance too.
Les-TA-Jon Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Currently the best English midfielder and by a decent distance too. Que him coming on for Vardy in the 75th minute then...
foxfanazer Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 It'll be interesting to see how Danny does playing as a left back
WesMorganGod Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 Currently the best English midfielder and by a decent distance too. Yup agreed, its not even close. Its crazy to think that the 2 best English midfielders this season have never been in the England squad before.. Drinkwater and Noble. those 2 have been head and shoulders about anyone this season.
adam95581 Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 The performance of Drinky yesterday should have had Woy purring. Won so many first and second balls, always available for the pass from the back 4 and played some lovely balls (the first time ball to Mahrez was perfect).

I hope so other wise Roy is seriously unfit to be a manager of any team let alone England... brilliant performance was MotM for me...
Matt Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 I hope Drinkwater and Vardy play keep ball. Afterall when Vardy plays for England no-one seems to want to pass to him so it'd be quite amusing and a big fat finger up to the rest of the players. Obviously in reality it's not gonna happen, like I said it'd be amusing though!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 20 March 2016 Posted 20 March 2016 That ball across to Mahrez yesterday, my word that was class. He's done those through balls before this season and he always times them perfectly, not too over hit or under hit. He's at the level of a quality international footballer now, so he's rightly been called up for England. He's got excellent attributes all round; strength, vision, ball distribution and much more.
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 With sterling out injured it's a shame Albrighton wasn't called up as his replacement.
Domsdad Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 With sterling out injured it's a shame Albrighton wasn't called up as his replacement. Gives Woy the chance to play Vardy wide.
Benguin Posted 21 March 2016 Posted 21 March 2016 Gives Woy the chance to play Vardy wide. Great point! Don't forget that the only possible and downright sensible and practical way for Vardy to prove that he can play through the middle is by proving he can play out wide. Managerial genius! Actually that begs the question why we haven't sacked Claudio and been on the blower for Woy.

ThaiFox Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 I wonder what the odds are on both Drinky and Vardy NOT being picked for the Euro's? I just can't see Woy picking them when it comes to the crunch, even if Vardy scores another 10 and Drinky supplies them all and wins player of the year. He'll stick with the usual old suspects because that's the sort of manager he is. Up front will be Wooney and 'Arry with Wellbeck and Walcott as subs.
Babylon Posted 22 March 2016 Posted 22 March 2016 https://twitter.com/england/status/712317214305689601Interesting Vardy and Drinkwater the only ones wearing the GPS trackers. Probably at the request of the club so we know what they've done. But, I'm sure that attention to detail and the fact we don't get many injuries is pure coincidence... After all it's totally down to luck.

Itsthejoeker Posted 23 March 2016 Posted 23 March 2016 I'm thinking Pardew. There's more chance of Alan Curbishley getting the England job than there was us winning the league this year?!

Pretty sure I saw the outline of one under Kane's top in one of the clips posted. Vardy and Drinky are just the trendsetters being the only ones to wear them on the outside.
