KFS Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 It is sunday, if you cant grovel your way out of whatever, can I have your ticket for my mate from Tibet? He's not a fan or anything, but loves a good day out. I'm a mate and a fan
BirminghamFox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I've heard Sky are being nice to us and looking at less pressure by being the early Sat kick off Sky don't do an early Saturday Premiership game, it's the Sunday!
Guest seanfox778 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I've booked that Saturday off work to go. I'm just going to believe it will stay on the Saturday and hope everything works out.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Very strong rumours it'll be 5.30 on the Saturday
st albans fox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Very strong rumours it'll be 5.30 on the Saturday That's surprises me geoff unless they think we will win it before then or need a point so no need to have Spurs play before us Guess they see more interest in the race for 4th place which will be Sunday's fare
kingcarr21 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 How awesome would it be to have it on a Saturday evening and we win the title. What a party we would have.
Footballwipe Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Just seen a document which would suggest the issue I thought would mean it wouldn't be 5:30pm on a Saturday has been modified, so I'm convinced it'll be in that slot.
Staffs Fox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 At best we'll be lifting the trophy that day and worst we'll still be in the hunt, There's no way we won't be the Sunday

jammie82uk Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I was convinced it would be Sunday myself but it was confirmed to the stewards yesterday it be 5:30 on the Saturday
Lcfc_lass10 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 How awesome would it be to have it on a Saturday evening and we win the title. What a party we would have. Would be surprised if many people are sober for the game! What a day that could be...
Footballwipe Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 What "document" is that? Press release regarding the M1 bridge closure in May. J21-22 scheduled to be closed from 8pm for three Saturdays from 7 May but it looks like it's been put back an hour to 9pm on that first week. Makes sense to compromise and at least get all the Everton fans out before it shuts.

Footballwipe Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 Cool cheers, fingers crossed for 5.30. Surely inevitable, no discussion about the bridge ever mentioned 8pm until the release. (Disclaimer: Not intentionally making it sound like a huge secret dossier or anything, the news is on the LM website now, but having spent so long thinking it was 8pm the shift to 9pm was very abrupt!)
Dan Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 I know a steward who reckons they were told that the game has been moved to 17:30 Saturday. I'm very hopeful.
Lionheart10 Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 How awesome would it be to have it on a Saturday evening and we win the title. What a party we would have. It would be outstanding, what a party in town, apparently the old bill are dreading it as they don't think they would be able to cope.

bart Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 The only problem with it being on Saturday is that there is a smaller chance of us seeing the trophy presented if we play before Arsenal/Spurs.
st albans fox Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 The only problem with it being on Saturday is that there is a smaller chance of us seeing the trophy presented if we play before Arsenal/Spurs. The trophy presentation thing - I'm convinced that it's done as much for the sponsor and the PL as it is for the winners. The top nob at Barclays will have to be around to present it. everyone knows when the final day of the season is. No one knows if we will have won it the week before. These guys tend to travel a lot. I'm afraid I think that whatever transpires, we will be presented with the trophy at Stamford bridge. (Assuming we win it which I've thought we would since early Feb). hopefully the club can organise a repeat performance the following day in Leicester though town hall square just isn't big enough.
bart Posted 4 April 2016 Posted 4 April 2016 In the past the preference has always been to present it at a home game if possible, Man Utd have recieved it after their penultimate match twice beacuse of this.

Fair point, but as I said in another thread, the PL and sponsors won't want to present it in front of a mostly empty stadium if possible.

In the other thread, people have already cited numerous previous examples of the trophy being presented at the winner's last home game of the season, even if it is not the last day of the season. I was at Old Trafford when Manchester United needed a point in their last home game against Arsenal to clinch the title. They drew 0-0 and the presentation happened immediately afterwards. United's final game was a week later at Hull. If (and a big IF) we win the title before or on the day of the Everton game, the presentation will happen after the match. I don't understand why people are finding this so hard to grasp!
Raj Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If we win by the Everton game the trophy will be presented to us after that game.
st albans fox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If we win by the Everton game the trophy will be presented to us after that game. I have asked the club for this info and, no surprise, they don't know the answer. I'm not phoning reception either. I hope the club are pushing for it to happen but fear it may be a locked door. we need to stress that the game is for the supporters, not the suits. If there is no news on this and it looks as if our win is certain, then perhaps we need to petition the PL directly as fans. telephone and email. annoy them to the extent that they have to give in.
