Tuna Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 I'm so worried about us spending so much money on players. We're rich beyond our wildest dreams! !!
AyewJoking Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Most possibly down to agents, almost all are money-beggers. why else would you aspire to be an agent? your job is to make as much money as possible and i suppose they are entitled to a percentage of that even before they get the back handers and pay-offs.
Gerard Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 I'm still skeptical about this bloke and paying £23 million for him. Our first signing of this size is going to make a few of us a little uncomfortable but what makes me more uncomfortable is that in January we seemed tentative about going above 18 and yet now we're happy to just stick on another £5 million. I know we're champions and we have money, but that doesn't mean we should stop trying to do shrewd business. Take a bit of comfort that CSKA couldn't get rid of him quick enough for £18m. Their reluctance to do business at that price can only be a good indication that he's worth that kind of money.
GingerrrFox Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Not convinced by Musa at all. Watched him a fair bit for CSKA and he's no better than Schlupp for me. He has the same raw pace and potential to be a game changer but he is also very inconsistent. For £20+ million I believe there are more "sure thing" players out there. Too much risk for me in regards to the size of the fee.
VLC86 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Just a quick one that I'm pretty sure no one has mentioned yet, what are we going to do at the AFCON?
mozartfox Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Have we qualified? I thought we were in The Champions League
Simo86 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Just a quick one that I'm pretty sure no one has mentioned yet, what are we going to do at the AFCON? Nigeria haven't qualified

For £23m I'd want a bit more than just a speed merchant, but I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Their reluctance to do business at that price can only be a good indication that he's worth that kind of money. Liverpool wouldn't sell Sterling for a penny less than £50m. Clubs will try and get as much as they can for player regardless of how good or average he is. Chelsea also squeezed £50m out of PSG for David Luiz.
Gerard Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Another article on him http://www.goal.com/en-ng/news/4079/features/2015/08/26/14736522/underappreciated-ahmed-musa-indispensable-to-nigeria?ICID=AR_RA_1 He seems to be a player that really divides opinion. Reading up on him his strengths are he has brilliant pace and movement, works hard for the team and is a good finisher. His weaknesses are his crossing and passing. He looks like an excellent player to have when we don't have possession and hit on the break. He might do well against the better sides and away games especially in Europe. It's nice to have these kind of players but I would like to think our next buy in the front six will be a player who has different skill sets and can break teams down with a clever pass.
MPH Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 I'm so worried about us spending so much money on players. you'll see alot of players going for silly money in England now the increased tv money is coming through....
foxes21 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Musa plays for CSKA... They probably face parked busses every week! I'm sure he wont have a problem in breaking teams down?!?!!
tsintskaro Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Obviously out of context but thought I'd share what a waste of money he will be...
TheLittleBigMan Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Does seem a lot of money for him, but on balance we're still looking to get in free transfers so we're not pushing the boat out that much financially. We've had our eye on him for a while so clearly Walsh sees a lot in him. It's a yes from me. Up the foxes
ALC Fox Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Obviously out of context but thought I'd shareAs you said, it's out of context. His pace possibly creates more of those chances than most other players. How does his chance conversion rate compare? Also, if his final ball is a weakness, can we just employ Mahrez as a player-coach? Imagine the raw pace of Musa combined with the touch and control of Mahrez!
Gerard Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 what a waste of money he will be... He's only 23 and like Vardy I'm sure Walsh has seen enough that he believes he's got some great assets and the weaknesses can be improved upon. I'm not super keen on this myself but he'll be a great replacement for Vardy as and when he's not available so that's a big plus.

RoyFox Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 When will people learn, never doubt Steve Walsh - Kante, Vardy, Mahrez, Fuchs, Albrighton, Ulloa, Okazaki, Gray, Huth, Simpson, Drinkwater, James, Morgan, Schmeichel...shall I continue?

Simo86 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Or benaloune, kramaric, futacs, mcgivern, inler, dyer, schwarzer, upson, etc I wouldn't put Schwarzer in that list. From what I've been told, his experience has been invaluable for all the players in the squad. He is the man the players go to for advice.
VLC86 Posted 27 May 2016 Posted 27 May 2016 Nigeria haven't qualified Thanks mate, though it was an important point that needed covering.
