There will be interest, but it won't be an easy deal to strike. Leicester will want his wages off the books, other clubs will know that and will  try and wangle it so that we continue to pay him some of it. Would strike me as one of those deals that will be cat and mouse until near the close of the window. He's not going to write off the money we're paying him, certainly not a huge amount anyway.

I just don't see Ranieri trusting a player he clearly never trusted last season to produce the goods.

He'll go on a free and someone will have him without wanting us to supplement wages.

There was plenty of interest in taking him on loan in January but we wanted a huge loan fee of about €2m IIRC.

Presumably to cover his wages, or would they have to pay those on top?

Well if a player goes on loan I believe the club that loan him are expected to cover the wages as standard.

The two clubs can negotiate obviously.

In some cases the loaning club want a fee, Jenkinson and Moses to West Ham on loan last season and West Ham had to pay a fee and cover wages.

I think last season Hamburg wanted Inler in January but we wanted €2m and Hamburg to cover the wages.

They are giving him a free transfer though aren't they? A club might be prepared to pay him whatever he's getting now because there is no transfer fee.

People may be willing to do that... but they won't go to that straight away. Knowing we want rid put them in the driving seat, hence why I said it will probably take time and be a game of cat and mouse.

It's going to be hillarious with Vards, Jeff and Musa bombing at tired defences. People thought we had loads of pennos last season :D

Ah, I can see why they would have balked at that. Presumably we were trying to cover his depreciation as well as wages. Would have been better off to bite the bullet and accept the loss. He might even have been a success which might have added value.

Edit: Sorry, off topic

This, it will be like facing Bolt, Christie and Lewis with skill, can't wait for the 'peds' excuses to roll out again from salty north London 'fans'!

We are getting some amazing shit done in transfer window !

Get Mahrez and Kante on long term new deals and then I will start to believe a top 4 is very very achievable next year

£16M sounds a lot better than £23M that's for sure. This kid is either going to be a legend or the next Elvis Hammond.

Poor old Elvis , he has left the building !

I have no idea how this could be accommodated, but can you imagine a team comprised of RDL, Schluppp, Kante, Mahrez, Vardy, Gray, Amartey and Musa !!! Truly unbelievable pace. There probably will be a game when we throw the lot at it to chase a goal. Almost worth hoping we are 2-0 at Hull just to see it !!
