whoareyaaa Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If anyone thinks being the key player in a season where we win the Premier League at 5000-1, breaks the Premier League consecutive game scoring record and scores 20+ goals in that season isn't worthy of becoming a club legend then they are suffering from very serious delusions of grandeur Only if he was to stay the following season instead of being blinkered by pound notes.

Nobody can take away what he has done but don't come out saying how much the club has done for you and jump ship as soon as another comes sniffing.
Legend fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He is going to stay and see how we get on Next season I think and this is all agent talk trying to get more money. Or Arsenal trying to say but we tried.
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Read some crazy things in this thread but Ronaldo not being a legend takes the biscuit. It depends what your definition of a legend is. If it's based on goals scored then yes, he is. To me personally it's about a lot more. It's about scoring the goals, but also sticking around through the good times and the shit times. Consistently fighting for the club and not having your head turned as soon as someone offers you more money. Like I said King is a prime example of what I'd class as a legend. He is a role model. Gets on with the job, pulls it out the bag when called upon and doesn't moan about it.
stevelcfc Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Most frustrating is that he's needed no time to think about it, so we stood no chance.
Matt Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I think when the club negotiated his champions league release clause they didn't anticipate on winning the league so it seemed realistic. Would everyone still be so irate if we had finished 14th and sold a 29 year old striker for £20M? Yes we've won the league but on paper Arsenal will be a more attractive proposal When the club negotiated his new contract it was February, at that point whilst some/most of us weren't thinking we were gonna win the league, the majority fancied us for top 4. So at the point of the contract negotiations, yes I would and am irate there is a £20m release clause. Some people have suggested he wouldn't have signed if the release clause wasn't in the contract, i'd have let him have a release clause in his contract but for alot more than £20m. I'd have been driving a hard deal just as much as him and his agent were, you meet in the middle. Tbh, whilst the contract/payrise was deserved in hindsight the new contract we gave him played into his hands more than it did the clubs - He only signed a year extension, got a massive pay rise and an release clause exit wrote into is contract (Presumably there was no release clause in his old contract). We properly shot ourselves in the foot in hindsight.
ROB-THE-BLUE Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Kinda feel like it's being fast tracked because of the England squad leaving for France.
Master Fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 That's it then. He's going. I hope he fails miserably the pencil faced little pikey. We should've left him working at the shit factory.
m4DD0gg Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 The jack wilshire thing as well, what happened to the 'band of brothers'? Soon forgotten eh JJV.
ronnup Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 This will be hear breaking. Unless,, there's an outrageous replacement. We have to have faith.
HankMarvin Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 The conversation was with me in the first place! I said we shouldn't get into a debate about the morality of Vardy leaving, because we've not always behaved impeccably towards him, and some of us aren't now, Stop rewriting history. He was in the England side before this season on the merits of that season which you're now casually dismissing as a failure and, as for the second tier, just look back at this forum in 2013 and 2014, and you'll see how much credit Nugent was getting, as opposed to Vardy. And I said he was 'key', I didn't say he was 'the only key'. But to claim he's had one good season out of four is pure and utter drivel. You said he was key in us staying up and getting promoted, if your gonna dig stuff up please do so from 14/15 when fans on here were laughing at the thought of him starting prior to Xmas If a goal scorer is to be judged on goals how is 5 all season a successful season, I don't think he can be credited as a key player that year when ulloa out scored him. Cambiasso shone Mahrez form and goals over the last 10 games sealed a lot points. Saying Vardy was key to us staying up is not really true without mentioning the other people involved ahead f him. You make it sound like with out him we would not have been promoted and would've been relegated

The agent played a blinder it seems, if there wasn't any release clause in his last contract then it is actually baffling, we should have held out and then offered a contract after the season ended.
josh Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 It's an Arsenal plan to get Kante and Mahrez. They know the Vardy bid can't be rejected, then the speculation starts so the agents can say "Look even Vardy is grabbing the money, don't you deserve that too?" #crapConspiracyTheories

The_77 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Take a deep breath, everyone. The deal is off. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Kitchandro Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 The report adds that Jack Wilshere played an instrumental role in convincing Vardy to sign for Arsenal. I have a feeling this isn't going to go down well.
Larry_LCFC Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I've seen enough of this thread now until something concrete is confirmed. If he goes, good luck to him. I won't boo him, but I certainly won't applaud him. I hope he would have the respect not to celebrate against us either. Very, very disappointed that he'd go back on his word and up sticks at the most exciting point of our history but I guess that's just the shit side of modern football. Could have gone on to achieve more great things with us but hey ho. I hope he sees sense and stays.
Karljohn Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Interesting one. His missus clearly wears the trousers. But I think if he ends up wearing blue or red next season it will be a very different one to this. Teams will work out how to play against him. Be it a ball from Drinky or 85 passes from Arsenal prior to him receiving the pass. Let's not get carried away with Musa. We could well be unearthing the next Vardy from lower leagues too. Fox 4 Life Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I have a feeling this isn't going to go down well. This was Woy's plan all along, drop drinky so he can't be there to defend LCFC and get Vardy to a "big club". He can play him centre forward now
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 @@UpTheLeagueFox Do you have any info? No If he really wants to go, let him go.
ramboacdc Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Right...we need 2 new strikers to perform in the champions league...we have 20m....go!

Master Fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 He's earning £70k a week playing for us? What exactly are Arsenal offering him?
