ealingfox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 As it happens, I got a delivery from the club shop today. On the invoice and merchandise returns form halfway down we have the sentence: SHIRT PRINTING POLICY - We are unable to exchange or refund a custom printed shirt, or accept responsibility if a player leaves the club or changes his squad number. This sentence is highlighted in yellow and is the only thing on the form that is highlighted. Is it always?
hairmetalgamer Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 So now we can't support England in the euros who are we supporting? Wales or Austria?
Legend_in_blue Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 All of you going on about loyalty and how he doesn't need the money are talking absolute bollocks, I bet some of you would suck off a chimp if it meant an extra 20k a week for yourselves. It's all relative to the financial situation you find yourself in. An extra 20k a week sounds a lot to the vast majority of working people on this forum, but in relation to current salary, it's another 25%, much of which is taxed heavily anyway. 80k a week is roughly 2.5 times the yearly average salary of working people in the UK. So within one year of an 80k a week contract, you have already amassed as much money as the vast majority of people have over the course of their working lives. This then brings up the whole money doesn't necessarily bring happiness debate, and how much money is too much etc. Bottom line is, an additional 25% on current terms of 80k a week isn't that great a difference. In many peoples eyes, it all points to greed. I can see where people are coming from. As I mentioned earlier, if he leaves, it will hit us hard and it will be interesting to see how the fans, particularly those who have jumped on the bandwagon a little over the past couple of years, react.
Will1981 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I think Arsenal only want to sign him as they are very short of home grown players for the champions league as the rumour is they are trying to offload Gibbs and Walcott. I do not think he will do that well at Arsenal but if he chooses to leave then I will not hold it against him as he has played a very big part in us winning the league which I never thought I would ever see us do that. PS does anyone know what sell-on percentage Fleetwood will get if he leaves.
Callabinho Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I think it's safe to say following Bert's info that he's gone. As people have said if we raise his salary others will want the same. It's best to offer him what we can sensibly and allow him to make his decision. What will be will be.
hornyhollthefox123 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Well, you brought the house argument up in the first place! Comparing footballers' values with the housing market is like taking a duck and saying it's a dog. Fact is, no matter how much you bang on about Vardy being a £30m+, the club have a £20m release clause in effect and that's how they rate him. True true. Just frustrating it seems to be so money driven for him. Anyway you never know he might stay. But for £130k a week it's difficult
ScouseFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Not true, if I was a pro footballer I would rather play football for Arsenal than Leicester. right now, as jamie vardy, really? we're the current champions of england thanks to jamie vardy. we've given him as much as he's given us. we're in the champions league for the first time ever, as is he. we've built our team around him. all his best mates play here. he is a hero and a legend here. arsenal are offering him more money. there's no way this is down to anything other than money. nothing else makes any sense.
whoareyaaa Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Bollocks to paying out £130k a week. For what? Plenty on here should remember the shit we got into chasing the dream just over a decade ago. The difference this time is that we've already achieved the dream. Let him go. A club our size is only ever a single bad decision away from relegation. Imagine going down paying that kind of money out? We'd be utterly ****ed. No thanks. Thing is you pay players like Vardy, Kante, Marhez big money so you don't go down???
Itsthejoeker Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Would ba an awful move for him, he took a while to settle in here and has only really over the last couple of seasons spurred on. At his age he can't afford to waste time settling in like he did here.
Aleksz Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Said it before and got shotdown by some but I wouldn't pay 100k for any player to be here. We're not a club to be doing that. What a load of balls. People are happy to beat themselves silly over potential players we're linked with but aren't prepared to see the club put the money where their mouth is. Some clearly aren't prepared for how much the TV Money is going to change the game in England, let alone the cash we're about to get from being in the Champions League.
Harry - LCFC Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Whether he goes or stays, if you're abusing a club legend - and that's unquestionably what he is - you should reconsider why you even follow football. It's alright being annoyed I guess (although even that's a little premature) but to speak about him as if you hold him in contempt is just strange and wrong. It would take quite a lot for me to turn on a player who did this much for my club.
Vardinhio Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I forget...is Bert the one itk? Used to give us lots of inside info but he got a few things wrong and got trolled over that. He has never been the same since. Come back Bert!
Stadt Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Wrigglesworth starting his work already. What a great find

sharpylcfc Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Put it this way Vardy is 29 not far from 30 adored by the fans starts every week I don't think leaving the champions to go Arsenal who equivalent to winning the title is celebrating finishing above Spurs or finishing 4th is an achievement but that's my opinion. I'd be gutted if Vardy left us when to be fair we stuck by him when he went through that difficult season when we could of easily sold to Sheffield Wednesday etc. So personally would be gutted if he left.
Moksky Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Can somebody please explain the Financial Fair Play rules. I dont wnat to sounf too negative , but dont they limit how much we spend and pay our players I dont think its a case of the owners not be able to increase his wages, its whether they can
It'sblueupnorth Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Saying Arsenal have actually triggered his release clause and he is free to talk to them and they haven't just shown an interest, what happens if West Ham come in and offer us more. Surely we'd be able to accept that bid over Arsenals. Just to put in a different scenario as well, say Vardy doesn't want to go to West Ham, surely we could give Arsenal the cold shoulder and refuse Vardy access to talk to Arsenal?
foxes21 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Can somebody please explain the Financial Fair Play rules. I dont wnat to sounf too negative , but dont they limit how much we spend and pay our players I dont think its a case of the owners not be able to increase his wages, its whether they can as long as u can justify u can afford to increase the wage bill, the premier league will accept. So we are fine in regards to increasing wages, due to our increase in revenue.
Jace Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Can somebody please explain the Financial Fair Play rules. I dont wnat to sounf too negative , but dont they limit how much we spend and pay our players I dont think its a case of the owners not be able to increase his wages, its whether they can FFP isn't an issue, it applies to Champions League and Championship/Football League under different rulings but we are turning over a massive profit at the moment so neither are any concern
lcfcrinaldi Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I can't see him leaving to be honest. I think it's a massive over-reaction to something that was on twitter. The only reason it's making headlines is because it for was one of, if not the best players in the league last season... and Arsenal. (An Arsenal side who invest in youth, not 29 year olds) plus don't they have an "over 30" rule, so that when they get to that age, they can only offer them 1 year contracts? If he goes, it's a shame and I will be gutted. If the routers are true, I can imagine Walshy is already sorting out a replacement. I'd be intruiged to see who that would be.
simFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 If i was Jamie reading some of the comments on this thread, i'd be walking straight down to Arsenal and signing up. It's just embarrassing reading such derogatory comments. Good luck to him i say, if he stays great! if he goes, then i he should be made welcome whenever he visits. true legend.
HankMarvin Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Whether he goes or stays, if you're abusing a club legend - and that's unquestionably what he is - you should reconsider why you even follow football. It would take quite a lot for me to turn on a player who did this much for my club. Ulloa scored 11 the season before in a team that didn't create much or dominate games, 2012-16: Leicester (144 games, 50 goals) If you subtract the 24 goals and the 36 games the record isn't great, I don't think it warrants 100k plus a week at his age The team is responsible for our success, and if Vardys heads been turned by agents or all the positive media spin then I think he should go.
Vardinhio Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Saying Arsenal have actually triggered his release clause and he is free to talk to them and they haven't just shown an interest, what happens if West Ham come in and offer us more. The clause apparently relates to champions league clubs so we are safe from West Ham.
