Why ?

How can he be called a club legend after one good season and leaves at the 1st opportunity

It's not the first opportunity, he has won the championship here, been part of one of the greatest escapes in premier league history...........oh and won our only major trophy in our history, whilst winning football writers player of the season and broken club and premier league records. If that does not earn you a bit of respect and goodwill then nothing will.

Does Vardy want to leave City?

He was asked this question only a few weeks ago at the launch of his V9 Academy to help aspiring young footballers get a step on the professional ladder. He said: "I am happy here. Why would I want to leave?"

So why do people think he's going ?

He's not irreplaceable.

Yes, he's a good player and improved dramatically but let's be honest here, taking your blue tinted glasses off, £20m a solid amount of money. I'd like more but with that you could buy Slimani, Deeney, Musa, Milik, Janssen, Barbosa etc

I think Kelechi Iheanacho would be a decent replacement.

The £20m would add to the transfer kitty that the owners would be giving Ranieri - at least £50m - so that takes the figure up to £70m. Perhaps three really top class players for that.

Hate the slimy little ba5tard now. If you plan to go, fine, but don't come out before saying you'll stay and that you love the club. Hope, and think, he'll fail at Arsenal, and I for one will be pleased.

However, in the long run, we've been sussed with our style of play Vardy brings. We're not going to win the PL again playing that way, so maybe it's best we bring in different players, rebuild, and become less one-dimensional.

I hope youngish players like James and Chilwell stay, have a feeling we could need them!!!

The ONLY way we are, and were ever going to win the league was playing that way.

In fact, I'd go as far as to say that is the way successful English teams will play from now on. Chelsea's way of playing is dead. Negative tactics won't win you enough points and you won't be consistent enough with slow build up because defences are too organised.

Saying we're one dimensional is hilarious. We thrashed teams 4-0, we put men behind the ball when needed and nicked them 1-0, we counter attacked and yet we played other games with all the pressure like at Southampton away and Everton at home.

Cmon boys he has gone and thats that, trust CR and the backroom staff. If they didnt have a plan for this in place I'd be amazed.

On what grounds do you base this?

I've seen enough of this thread now until something concrete is confirmed. If he goes, good luck to him. I won't boo him, but I certainly won't applaud him. I hope he would have the respect not to celebrate against us either. Very, very disappointed that he'd go back on his word and up sticks at the most exciting point of our history but I guess that's just the shit side of modern football. Could have gone on to achieve more great things with us but hey ho. I hope he sees sense and stays.

This...

Agents, SKY, the whole nine yards. People should realise just why everyone else loved us last season - because we held out hope that romance, purity and togetherness could still matter. Then, with most of us still on Claudio 9, Vardy's "representatives" get busy, and quickly sour the whole thing.

Still, we'll always have 2015-16....

£20 million is pretty good for someone who we paid £1 million for.

We can get someone younger and better. Vardy will be on the bench watching CL football rather than playing it.

Like most Arsenal players, he will be in the physio's room joining the likes of Wilshere, Welbeck, Walcott, Ramsey...

It is a good question. They can't plan in detail for every eventuality. His face is above the fanstore. Not riyad, not NG. Of the three, he was probably thought most likely to stay. If that's not true, then expect a very quick replacement to be up there Monday morning. If not, we really might have been caught on the hop.

Just an observation and it might be rubbish but when we saw the scenes in JV's house on that Monday night, he looked stranglely detached from some of the celebrations. Like he couldn't be sincere in his involvement with the other guys because he knew something that they didn't.

Have a look back and tell me if I'm imagining stuff. I haven't reveiwed it. It's just some thing i noted at the time and it made me feel a bit uncomfortable about him.

Of course he isnt going to go public until anything is certain, leave that to his raggy wife.

Makes sense now about musa however i was optimistic that sigining players like him were there to complement vardy not replace him.

What has his wife said to imply he has left?

My point at about us looking at other players is that we may have to sign 2 fowards not just one, but the net was already caste and players like Musa may come

Can't he be a Judas and a club legend at the same time?

Shilton seems to get away with it.

Brian Little as well!

Vardy is quiet weighing up his options. I think he might not go I really do. But if he does I will be gutted but the champions carry on foxes never quit.

It's the 1st time he's been approached by a bigger club, throwing the £ notes at him.

I respect what he's done for the club but "legends" don't just jump ship straight away.

Vardy didn't win the league by himself, we won it as a team

Latest is its looking like a £29mn transfer which would be very difficult to turn down unless Vardy was desperate to stay but I'm sure an extra £2mn a year is enough for anyone to be happy to move on. That's why people going on about loyalty are talking out of their arse, if anyone here was offered an extra £2mn to do the same job with better benefits elsewhere I can guarantee everyone here would say where do I sign?

Like Roy, Wenger will probably play him wide like as he insisted on doing with Walcott.  We currently set up to exploit Vardy's strengths. At Arsenal, he'll have to adapt because they won't.
