PAULCFC Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 Jermaine Pennant He'll be playing in his ankle bracelet on Sunday, will he? Another player did the same a few years ago, who was that? Jermaine Penant i think.
Guest Manini Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 sub him off at half time like how vardy used to If he's got his tag on I imagine Ranieri will probably make the sensible choice and give him the weekend off.
erlee Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 At least he can practice some indoor football/futsal skills & retain the ball better -ready for the next season
possiblygeorge Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I remember at the start of the season, before I started actually, that he illegally parked or something like that. Bit vague with the memory, nevertheless the guy has pulled his head out and doubt he'll f**k up again. Wearing a shirt with his name on it as we speak. On ya Danny. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Dodgy Bob Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Imagine we still needed to beat Chelsea to win the league and we were without our best right back because of this. Surely people with electronic tags shouldn't be prevented from working? If the general idea of criminal punishment is to assist people in becoming better members of society then how does stopping them from working achieve that? On a side note, Simpson has been brilliant this year, really grown on me as a footballer. It would be interesting to see how our clean sheet ratio since he and Fuchs came into the side stacks up against the best historical premier league defences.
stripeyfox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Simpson has been great for us this season. He has obviously knuckled down and got on with it. But that doesn't excuse what he did, and the likelihood is that if his partner had testified against him, he'd be in prison now. He's 29, so it's time to grow up. A little humility is called for in these situations. Turning up for your community service at Age UK in Eccles in your Lamborghini (a journey of around 3 miles) is not a great example of being humble I would suggest.
Rob1742 Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I remember the vast majority on here wanting him sacked when the case was going to court. I remember it being a case of him not pulling up any trees at that point, earning a lot of money, so let's try and hound him out of the club. Probably similar to the Thai three. They were not the star names so you were prepared to give them hell and hound them out. It's amazing the difference of the tone of the messages on here now. Completely different since he started doing well for us. When I say tone, I mean they were bitter posts just desperate to see him in the gutter. Horrible and just wanted him out and to fail. Now the difference eh, the tone is much better, much more lenient, but also people supporting him, which was a rarity back then. Wonder if any of you who have posted on here now and back then can see how two faced you are and how easily you be influenced by how someone has played rather than just the situation for what it is

Most were calling for his head at the time beacuse a) he had throttled his girlfriend and b) was playing shit. I would have been fully behind them to sack him at the time. But for whatever reason the club decided to stick by him. That;s my point about him needing to show some humility. He is extremely fortunate to have not gone to prison AND kept his (extremely well paid) job. I doubt my employer would have stood by me if I had throttled my missus (which I feel like doing often, although so far have managed not too!). Having decided not to send him to prison, I think better use of his 300 hours community service would perhaps have been coaching/tutoring disadvantaged kids/youths or maybe offenders.
Guest LCFC_World Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 In my opinion, he should be greatfull he hasn't been given a worse punishment. Give Liam Moore a chance at RB I say.
danny. Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 It's a game with nothing to play for, just drop him - think of the PR of him playing with an ankle tag!
weller54 Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 As good a season he has had I think we'll replace him during the summer. ...he's bad publicity for the club.

Who gives a **** as long as he performs? I don't care what other clubs think, or other fans, or other players, or the press. He's been one of our shining lights this season and I'll judge him on his ability to play football, not his personal life.

Hence why NP and the Thai three went!

As long as he's learned and doesn't behave as he has done, then I can forgive him, but no way could I support anyone who then continually transgresses (like Marlon King)
Guest Manini Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I think the owners may care? The club's image is important to them.. Hence why NP and the Thai three went! I think winning league titles is probably the best publicity they could hope for. I think it far outweighs a player playing wearing an electronic tag, and Simpson has more than contributed to that!

NZ_Foxile Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I'd say this was about right http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/should-feel-sorry-danny-simpson-7960937

katieakita Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Would that be the Daily Mirror that among many other things printed on the front page lies about British Serviceman torturing Iraqi citizens putting at risk the lives of British Servicemen and women serving during the conflict or various other indiscretions including unleashing Piers Moron on the world. What Danny Simpson did was wrong but sadly for the likes of the mirror he was not given a life sentence and people should be given the chance of redemption. His off field conduct has caused him many problems and no doubt held back his career but he has knuckled down and by the looks of things clearly tried to use the talents his was given. Surely there were many suitable ways of community service that he could have undertook if the court had bothered to look.
lifted*fox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I think the owners may care? The club's image is important to them.. Hence why NP and the Thai three went! If it was a problem he wouldn't have played for the majority of this season. I'm sure the owners are supportive of people who make a mistake and are willing to turn their life around to better themselves, much like the recent story of Vardy and his alcohol problems. TBH it's the reason our prisons are rammed full of first time minor offenders, costing tax-payers millions - because it's easier to just lock people away than have any faith in re-education and rehabilitation. It's an outdated way of thinking. The 'Thai three' went because they took the piss on a club-sponsored tour of the owner's home country. It was a clear sign of disrespect to the owners and their culture. What Simpson did was wrong, but it was on his own time, in his own home. People need to let it go and let him get on with his life if he has learnt his lesson - and considering his exemplary attitude since (and no reports of any further problems) then I'd suggest he has.
Stevosevic Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Overturned by who? He appealed and the court has overturned
