Ric Flair Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 That sort of bid might mean that Kante could be on his way Does £23 million for Musa indicate Vardy is off too? We need 5-6 new players and I think 3 of those (centre half, midfielder, striker) will see significant money spent.

We play with 2 strikers.... We're not spending over £15 million on players that we've no intention of starting and no one is dislodging Drinkwater & Kante if they're still here so I'd suggest it means one of them is likely to be sold.

I would suggest that in a line up that is likely to see many more changes, week to week that we've seen this campaign, we may well spend > 15M on quality squad additions. Seems little point in adding numbers to the squad who aren't up to it. drinkwater and kante would both command fees above 15 mill so another midfielder on their level to supplement them - why not?
BenTheFox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Does anyone else remember how good he was when Stoke came to our place in 2014-15 season? I can't see him coming here to sit on the bench though. So I could imagine this means that either someone is leaving or there's absolutely nothing in this whatsoever.
crisp packet Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 Do people not get it yet? It at first you don't succeed, try try again..,!
FireFox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 If we get N'Zonzi and Musa, then it give a good option of 4-3-3
BenTheFox Posted 28 May 2016 Posted 28 May 2016 If we get N'Zonzi and Musa, then it give a good option of 4-3-3 That is a fair point.
J.Lisemore Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Would prefer Mendy, only if Kante jumps ship though.

Drinkwater and Kante were ever present!!! I can't see the club splashing out nearly 20 million for a player that wouldn't dislodge the above two. As a record signing he would no doubt want to be on par with Vardys wage 3 year deal 12 million, plus 20 million free to be a squad player hmmmm
Bunyip Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 This is a whole new ball game ( pun intended ) we are now at a level that we have never been before and only our manager who has, knows what to do . If we are to take being in the champions league seriously we need a bigger squad and any incoming players have to be good enough or even better than what we have. Be surprised and grateful for what the next level brings us and ditch the small club mentality from now on.
Claudio Fannieri Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Simple fact is we were very fortunate this season that Kante and Drinky stayed fit and in form for pretty much the full season, Kingy played his part when required but with Inler likely to be off and Matty James not playing for over a year, our options are pretty limited beyond the starting 2 should either lose fitness or form, therefore a player of the quality of N'zonzi will be crucial to help us progress and compete in the Champions League and Prem next season.
Ric Flair Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 The centre half will cost nothing We will sign more than centre half I reckon.

Completely agree, if Kante or Drinkwater gets injured, they'd be uproar that we didn't buy a class midfielder. Nzonzi dominated Liverpool in the cup final.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Yep I do agree, we may need reinforcements in the centre midfield. James and Inler's future are uncertain, but of course King does a great job. However, if James and Inler were to move on, we'd only have Drinkwater, King and Kante, so ultimately we'd need more backup, and of course that's providing Kante doesn't move on as well. I seem to recall we were very keen on Nzonzi, and the draw to come to Leicester now, is much more appealing you'd think. Still, he is at Sevilla so we'll see.
brookfox Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Some of where we need to strengthen depends on Amartey and where they see him playing. Or is he just overall cover...

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Some of where we need to strengthen depends on Amartey and where they see him playing. Or is he just overall cover. Good point. Amartey can play in CM, but also RB/CB. So, he is useful. I'm looking forward to seeing him play more whenever and wherever he does feature next season.
Foxy_jim Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 Wow. Times have changed. We are champions and in Europe next season. We are no longer a mid table side where if we sign someone for 20m that means they are our best player and start every week. We need quality all over the squad to cope with 4 cup competition s and the demand of European football. We currently have two excellent centre mids, and that's it. Kings decent, Inler ok, but if we rotate or play 3 in midfield, or get injuries etc etc we need to replace quality with quality, that's where we are now. Doesn't mean we are selling someone.

I do agree. We're in that stage now where we want to establish ourselves as an recognised, quality PL outfit. And of course to do this we have to bring in quality from around Europe and in England, so ultimately players of the calibre we want will sometimes cost 15m+. This is good though, it shows the progression we've made. It's about adding and building to an already very decent squad.
Jon the Hat Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 No doubt we can pay a lot more wage than Seville. Outside Real and Barca TV money is shit in Spain
ousefox Posted 29 May 2016 Posted 29 May 2016 No doubt we can pay a lot more wage than Seville. Outside Real and Barca TV money is shit in SpainI think I read somewhere that the way TV money is distributed in Spain has changed/is changing to be more competitive with the the prem. At the moment I think you're right though.
