One of the first players I've seen us linked with that actually underwhelms me on YouTube,

Seems to parry almost everything even when it's straight at him and easily catchable.

If the scouts like him, I like him, but even kermorgant excited me more based on seeing his "best saves" on YouTube...

Only going on the YouTube videos but he always seems to parry it into a safe place either away from the goal or just in front of him so he can easily grab it, looks like decent keeping imo

Definitely not denying his ability though, 2nd most saves in Europe or something.

How is that not denying his ability?

You can't make any real judgement on Keepers or defenders based solely on YouTube compilations - only by watching entire matches are you really going to get a good picture. Some of the most important stuff these players do isn't going to be flashy or highlight reel worthy at all - claiming corners, coming out to claim a through ball, taking accurate goal kicks. Our scouts will have been out and watched him, and obviously thought he looked good. He's got a decent pedigree, and is an international. We've just got to wait and see really, keep a positive mindset. Pre-season friendlies and 1st round of League Cup will be around soon enough, then we can get a real idea of if he's good.

Anyway, just focus on this. All he has to be is better than Schwarzer, and if he manages that, then we've managed to improve the strength of the squad - can't be that difficult lol

I want this to happen not because I've got any insight into how he's been doing the past few years, but simply because as chants go, "Zieler" to the tune of Hey Ya by Outkast is too good to pass up.

as a chant goes it's alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright alright

I wanted akinbyi to be good so my 'akinby yi yippee yippee I, akinby yi yippee yippee I, akinby yi yippee, by yi yippee, by yi yippee yippee I, (to she'll be coming round the mountain) chant could get an airing, unfortunately he was crap and the best chant ever never made it onto the B Sides round the back of the decker.

You are telling me Kermorgant was a goal keeper and we didn't even know it???? Ffs, explains a lot.

Man Utd eventually moving for Kasper has always concerned me, but although they would be difficult to turn down for Kasper (salary, club status etc), he doesnt like the comparisons with dad, and such a move would intensify that. Kasper is important to use both with his goalkeeping skills and his status within the squad,i cant see himleaving and would hope the addition of a good backup keeper would motivate him And recentlyi get the impression his dad is fast becoming a foxes fan.

Nah, "Hiel Zieler" is the way to go.

I personally am thrilled something like this is taking place. I love Kasper but he has never truly been pushed by those after him in the pecking order and to compete in the most prestigious European competition (if not world club competition), you need to have international, quality experience throughout. Hopefully this is a sign of things to come and I truly believe, this could herald a new dawn for our club.

5000-1? Keep writing us off all day long.

The Hannover website states they have exercised their option to sell him and he will travel for contract talks and a medical. That was google translate, so a bit broken.

So a club has exercised their option to sell a player.... That's a first.

Maybe we could exercise our option to sell Liam Moore for 8million

I agree Robin

Definitely healthy competition can't do any harm

I do hope Kasper is staying, I feel he will, and hopefully by the start of the season we will have two quality goalkeepers.

Dilly ding dilly dong?

We still have a very small club mentality .

We need 2 quality players for every position.

We shall be playing a minimum 46 games next season....

World Cup winner eh?

One good reason glad Roo-nited got shot of Van Haal at least De Gea will hopefully stay there

People saying that his YouTube videos aren't convincing them, Hannover fans have been saying that we have picked up a class keeper. When fans are disappointed in losing a player its usually a good sign.

Good to see Kasper finally have to work for his place

Germany no. 2 keeper ahead of ter steigen.

Wow!!!! How can anyone not be excited by this. A real statement of intent if this is the caliber of player we are attracting.

I like the fact we are starting at the back with our recruitment. Hernandez next please!

Parrying things seems to be the trend these days for GKs. I don't get it. It seems to put the defenders under more pressure. I remember a PE teacher I had as a kid who was trying to teach basketball (he was actually good, we weren't) and he always said, if you can get one hand on the ball, you can get both on it (looking back, I assume he was referring to basketball). I wish GKs caught the ball more.

He was ahead of ter stegen.... Now he's not made the provisional squad that has Neuer, Ter Stagen and Leno ahead of him!

Not that I think he'll be a bad signing based on that though as they are 3 world class keeper in there own right

I remember Kasper being on soccer am and he said with the flight of the ball now a days and the way it moves about all over the place it's a safer option to punch/ palm it to safety

That's interesting. Obviously not being a top level GK, and never struck a premier league standard football in anger at one, I have to accept that. But if it is the case that the ball moves too much, surely GKs are just as likely to miss a punch/palm as they are if they tried to catch it?

Our backup plan for another goalkeeper was Cologne's Timo Horn who was also available for £8-9m thanks to a release clause. He has now declined.

Source: Kicker.

Although I am glad we didn't sign him - just imagine the type of chants we'd have had to endure.
