IS OUR TEAM GOING TO BE TORN APART

Read my comments in Vardy T talk thread. Football is a game of emotion sorry for venting my thoughts/anger

Well of course but  I stick to venting it at games where it might at least have some impact but each to their own.

What will be will be re transfers

I'm pretty confident Vardy will not be leaving Leicester this season.

That's alright then, panic over.

These release clauses are bad for clubs. They mean that if a buyer is willing to pay more then the player can force it thru at the release value and pocket the balance.

They are not necessary... if a player wants to go it is hard for the club to keep them as they are demotivated and u dermine morral... enen utd had to sell ronaldo.

In Jamie s case... he could become rich... but the way arsenal play ....pass pass pass... he wont score.... it will be a duff move but enriching

One positive is, Vardy is pretty old, or slightly past what you would call "peak" for a striker, so on the one hand, £20 million is a big deal.Especially for coming to the club for £1 million.

And its unlikely he is going to score 24 goals again.

But how much would it cost to buy a striker thats going to get 24 goals? More than £20 million.

Just seems like contracts benefit only the player, in every instance. Player and agent would have known they would profit massively from this deal when it inevitably happened.

Arsenal also looked at Aubameyang (who would be just as unsuited to their style), but I think they look at Vardy as a cut price Aubameyang.

I honestly think if Vardy does go, it will open the door for Mahrez and Kante to follow. If we do manage to hold on to them this summer, anything but a flying start to next season will more than likely see them go in January. Its just shit. :(

The bbc documentary showed the games and the goals... but didnt say how it was that it happened that we won the pl.

Lcfc won the pl coz a number of things were in place... squad memtality... skills... tactics.... manager...injury free... owners.... atmosphere...belief... psychology... cintinuity...and and and

In truth to keep things going we'd need to bring in 2 or 3 new first teamers each year ... more if in the champions league.

I trust ranieri to do this. All players come and go.... it might be tbat kante could play for madrid or barca so at some point he will move. Vardy may go to arse and regret it... sitting on a pile.

But he only gets so many deasons at the top and its his decision.

I hope he stays... but if he doesnt want to be here then we will move on without him

Vardy leaving is the hardest one to take as he literally came out and almost took the piss of reporters saying 'well why would we leave... we're like brothers blah blah blah'.

Loyalty doesn't exist anymore unfortunately

Not so much torn apart but yes players will move on, and new heroes will come in. If Vardy has decided to move on, I fully expect Mahrez and Kante to do the same. That should give us over £70m to reinvest in the club, the same club which was over £100m in debt and looking very grim not many years back. As for next year Gray looks exceptionally exciting and I would love to think Amartey will have a great season too if he gets a run in the team. We've just signed a World Cup winner in the prime of his career to start with us as a second choice keeper and there's no reason to think Walsh will fail in his recommendations to Claudio this summer.

Feels like a kick in the ribs that Vardy is going despite all his words about staying but that's football. Plenty of people willing to drive him to the Hawthorns when there was talk of a bid 18 months ago. Players come and go, hopefully we can continue to enjoy the European tour with another exciting team next year.

I hope for Arsenal fans sake that Wenger doesn't play him on the left wing like Roy does. But I get the feeling he will. For some reason Vardy is seen as being able to do the same job as Welbeck on the wing. He's not as good as Welbeck technically but Vardy is a better finisher.

agreed, the likelihood of others wanting to leave if Vardy goes will be higher. All depends who we replace Vardy with, if we are able to sign Slimani and Musa, both with champions league experience in the past. We could be in a stronger position, keeping hold of Kante and Mahrez as well and we have a great team for next season.  As Ranieri has said he only wants players who want to be here. We will have a strong team next season, and champions league to look forward too.

I think the club don't want to risk the financial stability of the club by raising the wage bill so quickly. Arsenal & the big clubs can offer 100k+ to everyone in their squad because they've worked for years towards financial stability.

This season might not be repeated & next year we might have lots of players on big wages, that nobody wants to pay for.

Our owners have always been adamant in terms of wages, we even had a wage cap in the 14/15 season. Maybe they believe Walsh can find the replacements for our superstars, without offering ridiculous wages. Something our club isn't built for yet, in comparison to the big clubs.

The owners have a long term vision for this club, they probably just didn't expect success to come so quickly.

At this moment in time, I believe that Jamie hasn't spoken to Arsenal. An approach has been made to City & Arsenal are interested in JV because they have found out the there is a release clause of £20m in his contract. If they do activate that & JV wants the move, then City can't stop it happening unless they can persuade him to stay. He has only recently signed a new & improved contract at City which I think is rumoured to be £80k per week?

Arsenal could virtually double that & if they did, then money talks in any profession & who could blame him for moving? OK I don't think he would find he would be as loved at Arsenal as he is at City, I doubt if he would find the same team spirit & comradeship, he wouldn't get gravy on his chips & imo he wouldn't be automatic choice in the team like he is at City.

So if the offer is made, it is entirely up to him. Does he want to remain at City where he is very happy & on a fantastic weekly wage, with a great club that is only going to get better or does he risk all of that & move to unseen circumstances? He should also consider that the upcoming season will probably be Arsen Verger's last & a new manager coming in may not 'fancy' him? I hope he remains with us!

My only thoughts are that Arsenal wouldn't have even contacted Leicester and invoke the clause if they hadn't had a big hint from an agent that their overtures would be well received.

Arsenal don't win trophies. The only reason that make sense for moving is the £££. Hello magazines and selling wedding photos, trying to be the new Posh & Becks.

Just go then if that means more to you. We were here before and will be after you. Thanks for your contribution.

the thing that annoys me the most about this is the fact Vardy's been spouting shit like he wants to be here for a long time. At least with Kante and Mahrez they've not confirmed they're staying or anything, and to top it off Vardy's had this planned way before he made those comments.

I have to agree with you. If the suggestion that it's a 4 year deal worth £120,000 a week then as much as I rate him, he's not worth that and if we tried to match it there's other players worth trying to keep more. He's nearly 30 and hasn't got 4 years of his type of game in him. Marhez and particularly Kante are far more valuable to us and worth more than that. Financially it would make sense for Vardy personally as he got to this level late in his career. I would love for the other two to give us 1 more year with much improved contracts, what have they got to lose? Then if they want to try the badge of Barcelona or Real Madrid on for size who could blame them. As for Kante to Chelsea. ..what a waste!

Of course you're right about the money and that's the nub of what's going on in this mooted transaction.

I suspect that egos will play a big part here. Vardy, I sense, is emotionally immature and hence vulnerable - he will swayed by a stronger will than his own and that will be the new Mrs Vardy - aspiring WAG. He himself would be cool about staying, however recent events have shown that Mrs V. is jealous of her hubby's fame and earning power. All other considerations will inevitably be as nought if she decides to use her hold over him.

Also Wenger and/or Arsenal might be wishing to make a point - that they can smash-and-grab Leicester's totemic player. 'You have won ze league, but we can still take your favorit playerrr'.

If he does go it will be a bad move for him - he is a magnificent attacker in the style of football which has evolved around him - but at Arsenal I believe he will be isolated and snubbed. He needs to feel important - that won't happen - amongst the minor 'galacticos' of the Emirates he will be just another player.

You are probably bang on on all points. And I agree that Wenger - who behaved pretty spitefully towards us when Arsenal were still in the race - is definitely flexing his muscles at us.

I'm just shocked that after all he went through (before LCFC and with LCFC) and then the exhilaration of this season, together with the close bond of his team-mates and manager, that he has jumped ship.

It seems pretty much written in stone now. Can't believe it. I wish nothing but the best for him as he's given us a wonderful season and helped forge the most important part of our history. But you're right, he will be "just another player" at Arsenal and there's a big chance he will end his career unsatisfactorily. I'm very concerned that it may open the floodgates for the others now.
