IS OUR TEAM GOING TO BE TORN APART

Hadn't  Vardy just won the league with Fleetwood when big club Leicester  came in and took him away.

There's  a football pyramid and we're  not at the top of it......................... Yet

Difference is - we offered him a big step up from Fleetwood.

the pull Leicester have around the world hopefully will attract the right players right now  , Claudio already expressed what type of player he requires , good players will leave and hopefully  good players will arrive , they'll want to come here  . that's what you expect from top teams , its no different at Barcelona etc . its down to the back room staff to do their job , which in my opinion with the signings they've achieved theres no drama . we all know if a player wants to leave , theyre gone !! its down to vardy . unfortunately for me I think his mrs will not want to miss out on London and its trimmings !!!!!

I've read all kinds of reaction to the release-clause activating by Arsenal. Seems to me that people have been in two camps all season - the 'we've done it, now time to get back into our place' and the 'why can't we go on to better things' factions.

In life you can choose to be what other people expect you to be or you can aspire to be what you want to be.

Vardy's head and his heart are probably in two different places - which is not good for him. An 'aspiring' wife and the prospect of cash and greater acknowledgement might be turning his head but, from what he has expressed, he feels he as a debt of allegiance to City. He also should be aware of certain possibilities available to him within the City team -  to challenge for Champion's League glory and to cement his name as one of the City 'Greats' - not a Lineker, Smith or Heskey 'Great' but a Chandler, Cross, Black and Wallington type of 'Great'. He's arrived late as it were, yet alighted on the right train. Two more seasons at City would set him up for life - in financial and reputation terms.

If he goes to Arsenal then he's merely a stop-gap. He's not an Arsenal or Arsene type and I wonder if he'll be able to adapt to being in the London atmosphere. I think he's emotionally vulnerable - witness the spat with his family and his on-field reaction to opposition and authority. I think he's potentially being used to quiet the unrest at the Emirates but the majority of real Gooners will turn their noses up at him.

I hope he follows his heart and doesn't listen to all the clamour of those seeking to ride on the coat tails of his good fortune. Howyever he isn't quite indispensible.

One post on this thread even mentioned the stadium in negative terms! It's really evident that a number of supporters are compromised by their immense emotional commitment to the club. True Leicester supporters, like any true supporter, are in it for life. Thus it's hard to see the Club spurned or belittled without reacting. Some can't make the adjustment to this Leicester -  hugely successful, comparitively wealthy, run by committed and relatively ego-free owners.

At the moment City are a club which can remain competitive in these stratospheric levels. The nucleus of what is a great team is, as yet, intact, with some interesting players on the horizon. I'm not sure that there will be a run for the exit if Vardy goes. Ranieri appears to have nailed his colours to the mast, the Sris aren't going anywhere, there is money, there is a superb training, medical and recruitment system and a general world-wide love for the Club  I see a level, composed head in Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha and a huge enthusiasm in his son -  and both qualities in Claudio. It's a hard boat to rock at the moment.

We don't need necessarily to be one of the big clubs. Their model has failed anyway - vast sums expended for precious little result - perhaps money is the root of their particular evil. The places at the top of the pyramid aren't sacrosanct either - Chelsea and Manchester City were plucked from relative obscurity by money. Newcastle, Spurs and Everton were once dominant forces overtaken by the circumstances that are ever waiting to influence the cyclical nature of football. There is opportunity for Leicester to establish themselves as a team consistently able to compete at the highest level without having to become a 'big' club.

No-one can be criticised for reacting to this development negatively - it's because it's important to us. But, if he does go, then there will be life after him.

Top post mate,do you write for a living?

If Vardy leaves it's a shame. A shame to lose our talisman striker and a shame for him to join a club that don't play the way he plays. He'll be even richer, sure, but he ain't short of a few bob anyway and I get the feeling with Vardy it's more about playing football than becoming mega rich.

That said, LCFC is bigger than any single player. We always have been and will continue to be so. So if Vardy goes he'll go with my blessing and in the knowledge that he's been one of my favourite ever City players. I can't believe the knuckle draggers who would go onto Twitter to slag him off. I really despair of such people.

I'd  imagine in most footballer's minds Arsenal are a big step up from what is at the moment a one season wonder team with some potential to progress.

It's not the first time and it won't be the last we had a magnificent team in the 60s performing better than or as well as Arsenal and yet one of our stars McLintock chose to go to them over us.

Most players have a completely different mind set to fans let's  just hope Vardy's ambitions match ours and he stays.

People ought to stop putting 'this' (nothing has happened yet) on his wife. Firstly, she has more right to a say in his life than any of us do, and secondly, the bloke is a grown man. He'll do what he feels is best for himself and his family.

Been thinking about this and there are so many scenarios that could be at play here. from arsenal wanting to flush out a striker target of their own to us attempting to force the issue with the PL as to whether we are considered a special case re acceptable annual increases in PL wage bills. If we haven't had the answer on that then it's impossible for us to plan our recruitment etc.

the basic point is that vards is so not suited to arsenals style. Perhaps they intend to have a plan B. If not, then it's a no sense transfer (like NG would be). and if it is a plan B then vards will spend plenty of time on the bench whilst plan A is working.

Didn't Arsenal offer 40m + £1 to activate Suarez contract whilst he was at Liverpool thinking that would buy him only for Liverpool to ask for more.

Apparently there was something more complex about suarez' release clause. I also imagine that barca's people had already indicated to suarez' s agent that they were v interested in him. If vards knew that Madrid wanted him next summer then he wouldn't go anywhere!

The guy helped us play a major part in winning the league and had a world class season.

What are poeple doing talking about his wife they don't even know her... Very sad that is.

If he goes... He goes. Will be a big loss and im pretty sure he won't have this team spirit anywhere else it will be impossible to recreate.

He can stay with the Pl champions and have a crack at the Cl next season and play where the fans love him.

A sensible man would stay put...

People say why would someone leave.. Yes I respect everyone's opinion. But when Dortmund toppled Bayern and when Atletico broke the Barcelona/Real dominance in Spain, both Dortmund and Atletico lost some of their stars. If one of our players want to leave, then let them. We'll try to replace them. No player is bigger than a club. I hope no one wants to leave as I think with some quality additions to our current crop like Zieler (2 quality 'keepers now) I think we can fight for a European spot in the Premier League from now on.

dunno why we're all panicking, schlupp will step in and bag 30 goals next season as our striker, mark these words. also, jamie isn't going anywhere, he's seen what it's like playing football for a turgid, possession based team in England, he won't move for a few pound notes more but hating playing football. £2,000,000 a year after tax is just about enough to get by on.

there's no way in the world he will gamble leaving a club where he plays every weak, with people he likes, has won the league, will play in the champions league and is enjoying his football. not even a greedy agent could change his mind.

Exactly.

Maybe there are a lot of young people on here where this team is the first proper good Leicester side they've seen. We've had good aides in the past and we've sold our best players. Atletico Madrid and Dortmund are much bigger clubs than us so if they lose players after winning league titles then so will we.

If you're one of those people saying Kante/Vardy/Mahrez have already helped us win the league so they can be allowed to leave if they want I assume you'll be happy for us to slip back into premier league no mans land? **** that, I want us to stay at the top.

You don't get anywhere by selling your best players, especially at rock bottom release clause prices. There's a difference between what a player is actually worth and what he's worth to a club. For example, Vardy is probably worth 25m on today's market (ish) due to his age, limitations etc but I personally wouldn't sell for any less than 50m purely because he brings SO much to the squad.

We'd also be selling to a (newly found) rival. Yes Arsenal are huge and can offer more than us but if we genuinely are keen on staying at the top then we can't go around selling our best players to the clubs around us. You shouldn't do that no matter where you are in the league.

Last year when we were bottom 3/4 of the year imagine the uproar if we'd have sold out best players to Sunderland, Villa, Hull, QPR!

Get him tied down, get the others tied down, with no ****ing release clauses and crack on with the signings.

What will be will be, but we will forever have been Champions and the team that did it legendary but we move on.

Leicester City will still be here, hopefully acquiring silverware, long after these players have retired.

Problem is people believe the nonsense that is spouted by players and managers. "We are like brothers, we're in it together, we die for each other". I wish people would stop believing that players are somehow devoted to this club. They're not.

If he goes then so be it.

Really?

Don't forget that he will also bag a stonking signing on fee that reflects his true worth. I reckon at least 10 million.

No one wants them to leave some of us are more realistic and have been here before and accept that players will do what they believe is best for them and their career and in their eyes that could be moving on.

You can get all uptight, pissy arsed, angry and emotional but it wont change anything.

Really hope he stays. Heartbreaking if he leaves, especially to Arsenal of all clubs. Social media is always fickle, but most of the comments from Arsenal fans seems very negative about this, and no way would he be appreciated there as much as he is here.

It's not on that people are laying into him and his missus though. They're grown adults, and Vardy has given us our best ever season - they have every right to make their own decisions.
