ronnup Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Can't understand how Bony isn't a better option than this lad when he's prem proven.
TMELcfc Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 Where does this opinion of him having "1 decent season" come from? His record is 225 games, 109 goals... That's not bad although admittedly, the leagues he's scored then in aren't great. Anyway still don't see the need for another striker , maybe a number 10 behind Vards or a lung busting centre mid... Or one more, a right back!

Just looked 27 gls in 33 12 gls in 21 8 gls in 26 Given the quality of Portuguese leagye other than five teams, it's only the goal scoring rate for last season is a decent return.
TMELcfc Posted 11 August 2016 Posted 11 August 2016 That's fair enough but thought his early days at sporting he was mainly used as a sub? Might be wrong, and yes the Portuguese league isn't great but watching him a few times last year I thought he looked pretty ruthless when given the chance to score. Anyway seems a Walshy link and most things he suggested worked...

Koeman would have know about him long before Steve Walsh rocked up at goodison.

But say Slimani has a straight pick between us and Everton he'd be more likely to join Everton because he would know that Walsh wanted him. Could play a (small) factor in negotiations

It's not just about 1 player granted its just been the media that have linked us with Sigurdsson, kone, bolasie, slimani, gueye etc etc you see where I'm going? Would Everton have bid on allllll these players we've been linked with without Walsh???? We'll never know.... What I'm saying is we should have known and he shouldn't have been aloud to leave before the window had closed, we may not have been interested in any of these players and it might have made no difference I just personally think it was a stupid move on our part

Can't see why we didn't have the same sort of arrangement like Tottenham have with Mitchell. Wouldn't be surprised if they get Slimani if Lukaku goes Chelsea.
STUHILL Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Would love to sign this guy. Just seems to tick all the boxes. I actually think Musa and Vardy are too similar (making same runs etc) and can see Musa being used from the bench or in cup competitions more, whereas can see Vardy and Slimani upfront together. Have a feeling we are not interested though but hope I'm wrong!

Why would he join Leicester to be with his 'mate' who could be leaving within 6-12 months? Genuine question are they even friends or are they just Algerian so people putting 2+2 together- (I honestly don't know??) Whereas he could join Everton and Walsh knowing that the DoF there had wanted him for a long long time. On paper it would be a better career move because it would seem he'd have a boss that would be prepared to be patient with him, something that is vital for foreign imports to the PL

On Sunday when we were totally battering Utd (start of 2nd half) Musa tended to peel to the right hand side whilst attacking and slotted back in behind Vardy central whilst defending whereas Vardy steered slightly towards the left of the Utd back 4. So it might not be a problem

I can't see us splashing 16 million on someone to play in cup completions or as a sub role, I think there was a lot of strain and pressure on Vardy last season to come up with the goods and with him having no break in the summer and with the vast amount of games coming up Musa will be playing an important role up top imo.
Heymister2015 Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Musa will play on the left and a new striker alongside vardy

Just imagine corners in the Champions league when Macherano and Jordi Alba try to mark Huth, Morgan, Slimani.

He is not suddenly going to be playing left wing in a midfield 4, that's just daft. AFAIK he played on the left of a front 3 for CSKA and we've look terrible playing it so far so I doubt we are going to start the season with it.

FoxinNotts Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Yawn. lots of people wanting this to happen (inc. me), but no serious links. Lock thread until seriously linked.
STUHILL Posted 12 August 2016 Posted 12 August 2016 Unfortunately agree. I have a hunch, Claudio is happy with our striking options now and will be using Ulloa and Okazaki as backup/Plan B to a Vardy/Musa pairing. Would prefer it if we gave this one a go, as it would be an exciting signing, but can't blame Claudio for keeping faith in Okazaki/Ulloa.
Ric Flair Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 25 million euro bid rejected. I wonder if we'll go back in for him? Interesting.
dannythefox Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 Why mess about we've been interested for months if reports are right. Pay the money.
