Jamie Vardy has chosen to stay at Leicester City, claims former Arsenal favourite

Former Arsenal midfielder Ray Parlour claims the Gunners' move for Leicester City's Jamie Vardy is now off.

Speaking on Talksport's Sports Breakfast, Parlour said he had inside knowledge that Arsenal thought their £20 million move for Vardy was going through and even had everyone on standby for his medical.

But despite being offered a bumper, four-year contract worth an estimated £25 million, it now looks as though Vardy has decided to accept City's improved contract offer and stay put.

"It looks like it isn't happening now," said Parlour.

"I was at the Arsenal the other day and there were big reports flying around, and the club's cameramen and digital staff had to get down to the training ground.

"So it looked like it was going to happen - there was a medical being done.

"But it seems Vardy thought about it while on England duty, and suddenly there was a U-turn."

So really, some Arsenal has been has come out and said he's staying. In reality, nobody has a clue including him.

The Wilshere convinced him rumours make so much more sense in this context

Where does it say anything about being told by an Arsenal player? He says he had insider knowledge of the medical but just says Vardy performed a U turn on England duty.

More speculation

He knows no more than anyone else

Could have been someone else who was having a medical.

And when did this happen?

The offer was on Friday. So the medical surely wasn't arranged before that. Parlour at the training ground on a sat or Sunday?? Couldn't have been monday as vardy was flying out.

I smell something that doesn't tally here with vardy and arsenal.

The day Ramadone posted is the day Vardy didn't turn up to the medical imo, have faith.

I suppose that no one knows whether he will stay or go, but there does appear to be far more positive statements rather than negative-so fingers crossed.

Because when Wenger is conducting transfer negotiations the first thing he thinks once they are concluded is "I must call Ray Parlour." lol

The odds shortening slightly on him leaving  7/5  with 8/15 to stay. worst odds re him being here come the end aug since Monday lunchtime.

whilst these are probably drifting around with bets being placed, there is clearly no appetite for the bookies to be taking cover re him staying here.
