Monsell1976 Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 He's bang average, we are supposed to be building on what we have here, and add quality, this wouldn't make a very good statement of our ambition.
kingfox Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Was a decent threat from set pieces if I recall but that was about it. He should stay at Burnley for the time being, see if he can cut it in the Prem, at least he will be a guaranteed starter if he stays there and has a chance to progress more.
EGBFitness Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Have we became one of the attractive clubs players want to be linked with or is this genuine? Think this one might be more of a case his agent is linking us with him for a new contract rather than interest from us.
MPH Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 He was a young lad when here and needed regular first team football in order to progress. But 10 million? Ouch.
MPH Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 It's all starting to feel a bit like a day trip to London on a hot day.. You're walking along all hot and sweaty and you see a burger van selling a nice ice cold can of coke.. It's what you need, but you find out that want bloody £3.50 for the fecker!! You've got the money and it's what you need but you feel a bit dirty on the inside paying for it anyway...
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 £10m for Michael Keane! Has the world gone mad?! I think it's the new £5 million... sigh!
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Memories of him equalizing to make it 1-1 v Leeds (h) at the back post in about the last minute. Great celebrations.
DB11 Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 10m is peanuts if he carries on his progression, just look at stones.... If he has a couple of decent seasons with us the big 4 will all be after him for 30/40m, he's got everything in his locker to be every bit an England CB in the next few years! You could see his quality when he was on loan with us and he's had another couple of seasons where he's played a large % of Burnley games to develop even more, I'd sooner spend 10m on him than 15/20m on dragovic What games were you watching?
Babylon Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 What games were you watching? He showed quality, but was prone to the odd lapse of concentration and some errors. I thought he had a lot of potential and has had a lot of experience now for his age.James Chester cost £8m to sit on West Broms bench from a relegated team. Like a parrot, I'll say it again... If we want to buy British then it's going to cost us. We'll buy some British and overpay, we'll take a punt on some cheaper imports as well. We won't do just one or the other.
dbtcity Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 What games were you watching? All the games he was on loan with us, he was young and raw which you'd expect with us being his first steps into first team football but you could see he had massive potential, he was strong, dominant in the air and in the tackle, of course he had a few nervy games but like I say you expect that from a young lad making his senior debut in football, I know you probably expected jaap Stam but I'm afraid for an inexperienced young lad your not going to get the finished article!!! Like Babylon says you will have to pay premium for British, but to say he's no good I'd have to ask what games you seen him play.... Probably not as many dragovic/Gilk/Hernandez
Clever Fox Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 I doubt very much if there's any truth in this. He's clearly not going to move Morgan or Huth so then he's only going to be back up. But then we have Hernandez coming in ans big Was just signed. So we don't really need Keane. Clearly Moore has no future with us. My own opinion is he's too slow and not big enough for a top Team in the Premiership. We need Strong and ugly with pace for centre of defence. If they can play a bit also that's a bonus.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Keane wouldn't be a first starter in the defence so would have to be content in being cover, not sure if he'd like that when he could be a more likely starter in defence for Burnley.
GingerrrFox Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 There's some absolute whopper comments in here. Michael Keane would be a good signing for us. He's proven in English football and clearly has room for more growth. He's only 23 which is absolutely no age for a centre back. He's got 10 years left in the game and he's got another 3-4 years till he even starts to reach his peak. £10 million for a young English centre back is good business. He shits all over Liam Moore ability wise, he's a proper centre back and will learn so much off Wes and Huth. Some people have got delusions in here.

I agree, but we'll potentially have Ronaldo, Messi and the like running at us next year my comment about him being crap was harsh and unfair, however I fear for a championship defender at that level, I scared
LAprice_ Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Everything we think we know goes out the window now. We've signed so many players who have improved drastically at Leicester; Vardy, Morgan, Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Albrighton, Mahrez. The list is endless. When we're linked with players like Michael Keane it's not too exciting but then again Wes Morgan wasn't exciting when we signed him. With the way this club is going, I'd trust them sign anyone, even a non-league player, and turn them into a worth while investment. Oh wait...
foxes21 Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 said it in the hernandez thread, but I can see us bringing in another cb as hernandez can play rb, which is where ranieri might want to play him.. hopefully its not keane tho
Max Power Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 If we're buying English lower league centre backs I'd have Lewis Dunk from Brighton
Kitchandro Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Despite what some people say he didn't show much at all when he was here. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Webbo Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Walsh must have been influential in him signing first time around and having worked with him must see something in him. I'll admit I rated him when he was here.
Riot Van Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Would prefer Jamaal Lascelles Find it hard to like the guy when he claimed none of the Leicester players would get into the Newcastle team.
sdb Posted 18 June 2016 Posted 18 June 2016 Surely not. He was poor here. Our win ratio took a hammering once he was introduced into the starting XI

We might be in the champions league and with that people perhaps expect fancy foreign names and proven champs league players. But we have jumped massively ahead of their original plan of continual steady growth and establishing ourselves for the long term is their target. They will follow the blueprint in squad creation that has served us so well. That includes lots of British players and players who have played in our leagues, who all have the hunger and desire and something to prove. That's not going to be easy when you have the new prem deal, champs league football etc as people will make us pay. You can't be picking up £1m diamonds all the time and giving them time to grow in this league, a few... But not all like we did.
