lancyclaret Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Errrrm.... anyone want to point out the glaring issue here. (You might want to take a look at the current England squad). Well spotted....Tom Heaton a deserved member of the England squad even if he never gets another cap. Everton are very keen on Heaton and are still sniffing around Michael Keane....according to today's Sun. Apparently (The Sun, Page 50), the Foxes have had a £15 million (yes FIFTEEN) bid for Kean rejected by Burnley. "City bid £15m for Burnley centre-half Michael Keane - and were turned down. Former Manchester United prospect Keane was outstanding as the Clarets won the Championship title last season. The Clarets said "no", but the news may spark rival bids from the likes of Everton." If I was Burnley chairman I'd take £15 million for a player who only cost us £2 million 18 months ago.

foxy boxing Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 paying ten million on a player we had on loan a few years ago,has he actually improved a lot since then? i'd want players with champions league and top premier league experience or potentially great young players that we can develop.clubs are now holding us to ransom
Raw Dykes Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Errrrm.... anyone want to point out the glaring issue here. (You might want to take a look at the current England squad). Okay. Outfield player, then. Done goofed.
MikeyT Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 This potential signing fills me with no excitement whatsoever. Must be better defenders out there for a bit cheaper?
ealingfox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Are we going to have another summer of Burnley fans on here telling us how their team is just as good as ours like 2 years ago? I suppose because we are both Champions we start next season as equals? At least that BlackburnCloset(Fox) is gone
MPH Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 This potential signing fills me with no excitement whatsoever. Must be better defenders out there for a bit cheaper? Pretty sure Walshy would be on it if there was... Let's not forget we need to meet the quota of homegrown players in our champions league squad...
Babylon Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 This potential signing fills me with no excitement whatsoever. Did the signings of Simpson, Albrighton, Fuchs, Vardy, Morgan, Ulloa, Drinkwater etc etc. It's not about names, or exciting foreign talents. It's about how they fit together, I'm probably as guilty an anyone else for getting excited about some foreign talent we've only seen youtube clips on... but, our signings are always very well thought out and fit together as a unit brilliantly.
Max Power Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 The Keane price makes a bit more sense because at his age and potential his value could theoretically increase. He has a good season and he could be in the England team by the end of the year. Deeney is never ever going to be a 'good deal' - best we can hope for is that he plays well.
AKCJ Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 we could easily be in line to spend 45m on deeney and micky keane. could buy ourselves like a hundred riyads with that.

Bayfox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Rob tanner has just tweeted our bid was 15 million, wtf. sorry but the world has finally passed madness and moved onto insane.
AjcW Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Thing is... he was a Walsh spot to begin with... yes he left but he certainly will not have taken his eyes off of him, and if he's watched him develop and wants him back then you can be sure we'll get him! He's 23, playing well and likes us. What's not to like about this deal? Surely we've learned by now to ignore the money... it's never what is reported anyway! Also considering the amount of shite ROI have at the back i'm amazed no one has convinced him to switch to them yet, they could have done with him at the Euros!
ealingfox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Starting to think we should just leave PL players. Nobody is going to sell to us without humiliating us in the process. The whole proven PL thing is a load of rubbish anyway. Makes you wonder why Spurs could get Wanyama for 11m.

psychonaut Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Rob tanner has just tweeted our bid was 15 million, wtf. sorry but the world has finally passed madness and moved onto insane. Kante and Mahrez must be worth at least 60M
ealingfox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 He's out of contract in 12 months Fair enough. I hope we didn't actually want him as well then, and I don't think we did.
Koke Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Starting to think we should just leave PL players. Nobody is going to sell to us without humiliating us in the process. The whole proven PL thing is a load of rubbish anyway. Makes you wonder why Spurs could get Wanyama for 11m. I think we should go foreign too. We already got 6-7 homegrown players in the squad so it's not like we're running short. The prices being quoted for English players is shocking.
Fox92 Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 The money in the PL is ridiculous. We're at a stage where clubs like Bournemouth and Watford can reject £20mill for their players. It's no wonder clubs end up looking abroad. Look no further than Kante at £5.5mill. Like I said in another thread, if we had Heskey now we'd be looking at selling him for £25million.
mozartfox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Matt Mills Mark II. Better value available elsewhere.
AjcW Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 ... On the other hand this whole story could just have been to hurry Hernandez up?

Heskey would have cost you a damn site more than that nowdays.
Guest Papasmurf Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 He's out of contract in 12 months And wants to leave. Probably has for some time.
FireFox Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 ... On the other hand this whole story could just have been to hurry Hernandez up? No. Hernandez has been a done deal for ages now. He's currently on holiday.
Kitchandro Posted 21 June 2016 Posted 21 June 2016 Did the signings of Simpson, Albrighton, Fuchs, Vardy, Morgan, Ulloa, Drinkwater etc etc. It's not about names, or exciting foreign talents. It's about how they fit together, I'm probably as guilty an anyone else for getting excited about some foreign talent we've only seen youtube clips on... but, our signings are always very well thought out and fit together as a unit brilliantly. Thing is we didn't spend much money on most of those. The ones we did, I'd say were poor signings. Ulloa has done ok but for £8m I'd expect more than his goal return over in 2 seasons. Likewise Shinji who, despite playing a part for us, is not a top quality player at all and we need to replace after one season if we want to improve. Kramaric was a waste of money as well. £15m for a bloke we already know and I don't rate all that much, it's not very encouraging. I've been wrong before, massively wrong on some occasions about some of our signings, but my gut feeling is Keane and Deeney (Deeney especially) are massively overpriced and we could obtain better for that kind of money.
