Michael Keane

The fee quoted isn't obscene, he's a good age and he's come on leaps and bounds since we had him on loan. He might be a very good target actually, I just assumed we'd be looking for players like Dragovic to come in. I also wonder what this means to this Luis Hernandez deal. If we don't get him on a free i'll be a touch miffed.

He won't come here to be 3rd/4th choice.

Why would a 23 year old ambitious young lad not want to come to a team that has just won the league and are in the CL and be third choice CB in a team where the 2 first choice players will be coming to the end of their playing days in the next 2-3 years.

Seems the perfect opportunity for a young lad to kick ion and learn from top experienced guys while at the same time get in plenty of games.

Also I think it's a bit harsh to be saying he was rubbish while he was here last time. Ok he didn't set the place on fire but he showed glimpses of class and was a young kid finding his way playing against blokes rather than kids so it was all part of his learning process. To dismiss him at that tender age as rubbish is wrong. Look at Kane and lingard they hardly has a great time here and look at the progress they have made.

In an inflated market 11m for a highly rated home grown player is about the going rate so 11m does not scare me in fact if we want to kick on and establish ourselves to compete on this level over the coming years I would say 11m is not even high risk , get used to seeing much higher fees than that.

I think it's a great time to be a Leicester city fan and be competing for these players so sit back...enjoy the ride...and trust in our scouts management and owners and players.

After all they have not done bad so far.

If we do sign Keane, I'm still hoping we sign Hernandez too. As we know, Stoke bid 7m for Keane in January, and we're probably not the only clubs in the PL interested in him alongside Leicester and Stoke.

Have to say I was actually fairly impressed when Keane was here, looked mature, good on the ball and having a partnership with Morgan must of benefited him greatly.

£11m?

Think I'm just going to ignore all prices now it's just too absurd

With all this money flying around it's a sellers market and young English players come at a premium. 11m is the going rate.

Yeah I understand why I just don't understand why we don't shop in a different market - we have enough english players. £11m for a championship defender is criminal

Look at it like this, James Chester cost £8m... since then we've had a huge increase in TV money and got champions league cash (look at the premium the other other clubs pay in this country when teams know they are loaded... Mangala, Otamendi... and they aren't even English) . It's not that big a jump to what others have already been paying for players from our leagues.

The money coming in at the moment is so much, it's almost getting to the point it doesn't really matter. Because if you stay up, you get it all again the next season.

I know it seems mental

He's a premier league defender now and has been before.

We will shop in a different market and already have done (see the new keeper). But we do want to keep a British core, and that means signing British players. Whether we have enough it down to the plans of Ranieri and Walsh. We don't know who might go.

I understand the reasons I just don't see why we shop elsewhere. We have lots of English players, we have even more with the fabled "premier league experience". Is Michael Keane worth the massive mark up when Dragovic (a previous target) is going for the same price and he's an international who's won leagues and played in the CL?

As ever I trust the club when it comes to recruitment but it just seems we could avoid getting completely fleeced

It's not just about the fee, it's about the package. Dragovic could have been wanting silly money, compared to some lad from Burnley... who lets face it, will hardly be paying him a fortune.

As I said, we don't know who might go. If James and De Laet leave, that's two Bristish players gone. And yes... I know De Laet isn't British. When I say we want British players, I don't mean those just born here. I mean those who have been around the leagues a long long time. People like De Laet, Kasper, Huth have pretty much grown up here and spent the vast majority of their time playing in our leagues.

We could easily sign 6 players this summer... if all 6 come from abroad that's a big influx who need to get used to the leagues, the country. Who need to settle in more etc. Picking up a few from our leagues as well will be seen as less risky, despite them costing more.

Just think it could be important to have a defender experienced in top level European football. If we sign Keane, talente young defender he may well be,  we are saying that we are happy for him to immediately step in to a title defence and a Champions League campaign. Huth and Morgan aren't gonna play every single game. Just seems a big ask. Maybe he'll be fourth choice and there's someone else coming in we'll see.

I am slowly getting my head around the fees its just when it goes into that 8th figure I think. Guess we've been spoiled by the Demarai Gray deal. Getting a top young English prospect for peanuts is far from the norm.

£11 million for Keane and potentially £30 million for Deeney will cause unbelievable hysteria. I'd take Keane for that price but not Deeney, too much pressure at that value. £10-12 million is nothing these days.

If we got Keane we'd have Wes, Huth, Was, Benny and him. They've all played either international football, European football or in other leagues other than Keane. Benny, I could see going on loan again and us getting another one in.

Having thought about it I'd take Keane too. Even if he doesn't do that well for us we can recoup half the money back as he's still young. So I'd take Keane for £10m but not Deeney. I hope to god the deal is dead in the water.

I get dizzy just thinking about paying £30m for Deeney.

He's a very good young English central defender who won rave reviews while helping his team

win the championship and was a regular for England u 21s.

Ring any bells?

No... unless you mean Liam more who has constantly lost his place here and did so again in the promotion season to Was for a lot of it.

Exactly, not a comparison at all!

Well said.

Liam Moore lost his place over Christmas and we were much better in the second half of the season losing just once.

People shouldn't read too much into fees. £11million is a lot for a "Championship player", yes, but on the other hand £11million is not a lot these days - not as much as it once was. Imagine if Liverpool wanted Heskey off of us in this day and age, we'd be looking at much much more than £11million.

I'd sooner have Ben Mee he's always looked good when I've seen him play!

(Apart from his debut here of course)

I still remember that tackle he put in against QPR away in the Sven season, that game felt massive back then for some reason.

Surprised a newly Promoted team would let their main CB leave, ticks alot of boxes for us right now though and the lad still has potential

I would of preferred spending the money to develop Michael Kane into a top defender just for the fact i could tell people we had Michael Kane playing on our defense!!

Harry's brother? Gerrimin

For this price i'd rather we went for Lascelles, if we want a young british defender. One of the best defenders i saw last season was Van Dijk, although he'd cost much more then 11m.
