RoyFox Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 €30m is £25.66m sterling in current Xchange rates (0.86), however I'd expect Vichai will have a hedged Euro account (built up pre Brexit) to protect them from any adverse currency swings, so it could actually be closer to £21.75 mill going off a rate of €/£ of 0.725. Fingers crossed, this would be normal practice for an astute billionaire.

norwichfox Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 smokescreen for.......we have finished buying this transfer window, can't see anything being bandied around that will come to fruition in the few days left until transfer window closed. A loan on the last day is most likely....ala Nathan Dyer on Sept 1st last season, I'm quite pleased that we didn't buy him .

Wymsey Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 N'Zonzi, Drinkwater and Mendy as middle-three would be instrumental imo.

I might post this in "what grinds my gears" but why should we be held to ransom? 25m is a ****ing shit load for us. If we think he's worth X amount then we should offer that and, if they say no, walk away. Money is ruining the game because sides with loads of it are splurging it left and right on players that aren't worth that much.
Tanya Posted 26 August 2016 Posted 26 August 2016 It doesn't seem like we're going for anyone now. Oh well, a shame, I think we need one more quality player in the midfield.

We're in champions league man, champions league!!!!

Considering we'd have to give him a wage that matches him up with our best players we'd be spending about 60m including wages, bonuses, appearance fees, agent fees and transfer fee. 60m isn't the kind of money that we'll just say "yeah, **** it". If we don't think he's worth it then we won't do it. There's value to be had, N'Zonzi at 25m does not represent value.

Accept it.

Money is ruining the game because sides with loads of it are splurging it left and right on players that aren't worth that much. Quite simply we are about to face playing 3 games every week for a few months and we have 3 fit central midfielders. We are in a transition period without Kante and I believe we'll have to go 3 in the middle soon which basically means we'll have no alternatives than King, Drinkwater and Amartey. It's a scandalous situation to be in, with less than a week to go in the window. We are notoriously poor at finalising deals quickly and we have shown in recent windows that come the closing days we are very poor. N'Zonzi has been a target for ages, it's clear we want him but we've tried to get him for a reasonable price, well tough Seville don't want to sell him. We are lucky there's a release clause to take it out their hands so pay it or risk our season as I'm unconvinced we have any ready alternatives to go after and get!
