From what I remember, Kante didn't want to come here, Rudkin got him here by giving him the terms he wanted. He helped us win the league, then was sold for a record profit. Am I missing the bad part of that deal? Would people rather we didn't offer the terms he wanted, and therefore not sign him? We probably wouldn't have won the league without him.

If anybody on here found out in September that he had a £30m clause in his contract, nobody would have batted an eyelid. Rudkin would have been instrumental in keeping Riyad, Jamie and DD here too.

Yeah, from what I can see, he has done more or less everything right in the last year. The big decisions at least, he's a hugely important piece of the jigsaw that won us the league.

Nothing has ever been said about Kante not wanting to come, it also started because we didn't have a manager when we first made a bid... Nobody in their right mind would come at that point.

Nobody in their right mind would come at that point. I thought it was him who was quoted in French media as essentially saying that he didn't want to move here? Could be getting confused with one of the other various mids we were after at the time. If so, my bad! Fairly sure it was him though, he seemed to be angling for a better move. After he came here, it never felt like he properly integrated with our squad to me, obviously whilst playing he was fine, but during warm-ups and the brief social aspects we get to see, he never looked like "one of the lads". Always seemed to be on the periphery, in total contrast to the clips of him larking about with the French squad that I saw whilst I was at the Euros. Anyway, onwards and upwards, I'd welcome N'Zonzi with open arms. European and Premier League experience, ball winner, physical presence... He makes teams tick when he plays well.
