People seriously need to get real about transfer fees these days. It's not 2005. Teams in the championship are spending £10+ million on players. Yes we've picked up some cheap gems over the years but this is a new era. I'm not sure what people really expect for 7-10million now, whatever it is it's not likely to strengthen out squad.

I might post this in "what grinds my gears" but why should we be held to ransom?

25m is a ****ing shit load for us. If we think he's worth X amount then we should offer that and, if they say no, walk away.

Money is ruining the game because sides with loads of it are splurging it left and right on players that aren't worth that much.

Am I the only one who thinks money is not ruining the game?

Quite the opposite in my opinion it's made the premier league more exciting.

Personally I love the fact we have shed loads of money.

more to the point he has a release clause why da fvck are we in for him if we won't meet that figure. Either it's bollox or our owners are talkin bollox.

Had Chelsea offered them 20m for Kante would they have took it. Days left in the window and they don't want to sell. Either pay it or walk away don't try to be billy big bollox with another CL club. We could end up looking dafter than Wenger.

I think its all relative mate, they have more and so can spend more, i don't think it's ruined the game.

Quite simply we are about to face playing 3 games every week for a few months and we have 3 fit central midfielders. We are in a transition period without Kante and I believe we'll have to go 3 in the middle soon which basically means we'll have no alternatives than King, Drinkwater and Amartey. It's a scandalous situation to be in, with less than a week to go in the window. We are notoriously poor at finalising deals quickly and we have shown in recent windows that come the closing days we are very poor. N'Zonzi has been a target for ages, it's clear we want him but we've tried to get him for a reasonable price, well tough Seville don't want to sell him. We are lucky there's a release clause to take it out their hands so pay it or risk our season as I'm unconvinced we have any ready alternatives to go after and get!

we are not playing 3 games in a week. We are playing 2. If we play sat and weds we won't play till Sunday.

If we have shed loads of money then why aren't we spending it? I'm beginning to question how rich our owners really are based on this transfer window which has come after us being crowned Champions of England. If they are reluctant to spend 25 million on a single player as Premier League Champions in this over inflated market when lower mid table fodder like Crystal Palace are spunking 30 plus million on Benteke then I must question how far we can go with these owners, my bet would be not much further. Are they really that rich? Or are they just tight? I want to see the money made from N'golo Kante reinvested in his replacement and not in the owners pockets. I want to see some serious ambition being displayed, relegation fodder buy players for 16 million. I reckon I'd be disappointed with our summer business if we don't break our transfer record again.

If we want to plug the massive Kante-shaped hole in our midfield, we'll have to spend. We already knew that, it was the amount quoted in Percy's article.

We're an injury or two away from lining up with King and Amartey in the Champions League. Give Sevilla their money, sign him, potentially get out of our group, get a % of the fee back through tournament earnings, make up more than the fee from the increase in club stature playing knockout CL football would bring.

It really is time to back ourselves and improve the squad. We'll never have a better platform to kick on.

I reckon leave things as they are and in January assess whether we need anyone somewhere incase we're not at our best in the league.

Think Ranieri's cards are close to his chest and should be.

Yeah and by then we could be out of the Champions League and all other cup competitions.

I am all for not panic buying but if we want someone then just sign them!

Last season, August 2015, 30M Euros (buyout clause for N'Zonzi) was about £22.5M. This year since all the blithering idiots who voted for Brexit that 30M Euros would cost us about £27M. That is a huge reason why English clubs are not buying at the prices European clubs are selling for!

If we dither and dather about paying the release clause, and someone nips in ahead of us and pays it and our owners go round with faces like a slapped arse because someone beat us to it, i will question the ambition of our club

The problem is whoever we sign will look like a 'failure' compared to the Kante fee. Both the 5mil he cost us, and the 30 he cost chelsea.

that's funny as I refer to remainers as blithering idiots, and I'm often right

CM is a priority... In my opinion... Haven't replaced Kante and with all the monies etc we have just recieved from winning the league etc... Surely we can afford to invest. If he's playing his cards close to his chest fair enough but things need to happen and quickly!
