Silva > N'Zonzi, him and Slimani would be superb business. Not a bad price for the midfield engine of the European Championship winning Portugal side either.

I honesty know nothing about him. Can someone give me a in depth analysis about him? From his YouTube video he looks technically blessed. Is he more of a Kante type midfielder or more a Drinky type of player?

I must confess I don't know too much about him, but he is the captain for Sporting Lisbon. How do you add a video so it displays inline with a post? Don't know, so here is a link anyway!

Looks good, although personally I would have gone for Carvalho just because I'm not 100% sure we need this type of player. More than happy to be proved wrong though!

And with a more sombre note, as excited as I am about this and the Slimani deal, I feel sorry for Sporting Lisbon. This summer alone they have lost Joao Mario, Slimani and their Captain despite finishing 2nd in their league! That sort of thing almost happened to us so is many ways the amount of money we are throwing round now sometimes makes me think that it's not a good thing to go in this direction. Of course I realise that in the Premier League, you have to do this otherwise everyone else will!

It must be gutting as a Sportting fan. They have their best chance of winning the league in years. However they are in major debt to the banks. The banks apparently take half of every transfer fee received to pay it off.

Didn't think we'd do it but incredible statement of intent by the club. Weird to leave it all so late.

Our transfer windows always seem to start strong, then there is absolute quiet and then when there is a few days left we end strongly again.

It might have been in the works for some time - in which case they've done a damn fine job of shushing it up.

He has scored on average 9 goals in the past three seasons, more of an attacking central midfielder.

As I said in the N'Konzi thread...we weren't put into the easiest Champions League group until late. The club realizes Group G is winnable. They obviously want to win it.

Nope. I was just thinking how funny it would be if this guy was the smash hit, when his name had not come up in any rumours or threads until the last 24 hours!

Buying the key players of the toughest opposition in the group is a good strategy.

Indeed.

It's a pity we're not doing it.

if we beat Porto home and away in the Champions league, they will like us a bit more :)

Slimani has five in his last three against them, so they won't be looking forward to facing him!
