We'd prefer to sell William first, that has about the same market value as Adrien Silva. It's your opinion and I have to respect him, but for me and a lot of Sporting fans Adrien is our most important player (Slimani 2nd) and 25M€ is too low to lose such an important key to our success. About the debt, it's true that Sporting (Porto and Benfica aswell) have a big debt to the banks. But what you don't know is that a few years ago we made a financial restructuring signed by Sporting chairmen and the 2 banks that we owe most of our money to, and they don't force us in any way to sell players. We only have to give them a percentage of our sells over 10M, but they have no way to force us or pressure us to do it faster. I should remember it's stil illegal to interfere/put pressure in any team's business or management. Also, the money that we will make with João Mário and Slimani is more than enough for us to live through the rest of the year with no worries. I'm sorry man, but I'm pretty confident that Adrien won't come to your team for such a short ammount of money. Thanks for the info. I think he is a very important player for you and also he has been there so long, so would be good if he could finish his career at SP. That is rare in football. I actually think that even though he would be a great player to have, he is also similar style to what we have in Danny Drinkwater and I think we need a defensive style midfielder so perhaps it is for the best that we may end up signing a player such as N'Zonzi who has more defensive capabilities. I just hope we sign a good midfielder in the next 2 days! Perhaps your chairman will be vocal again tomorrow and we will know more about his intentions for Adrien. I suspect the player may want to move for the Premier League and money BUT chairman will not allow him to leave. We will target someone else and then you will keep your player and hope he is happy to stay!
DierIsATraitor Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Meanwhile the cover of the 3rd newspapper leaked and it claims that Jesus (our coach) won't let Adrien go. It says that the coach refuses to lose the player in the last days of the market and that the president is only willing to negotiate values close to the release clause. Finally it says that the player made a statement saying goodbye but also that Sporting said that they didn't recieve any offer for the player. Also says that we will get 27M with Slimani deal (not sure if that includes the 20% that belongs to his previous team)
WigstonWanderer Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Personally I think we should apologise to Sporting for any "misunderstandings" to try to get the Slimani deal over the line, and put in for N'Zonzi.
Flea Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Hey guys, yet another Sporting fan here! Basically, in my eyes, Adrien has really messed up, He more than anyone should know that our president is an hard ass whe it comes to defending the club, especially in transfers. Honestly, I can't see him staying, although Jesus (our manager) has said something like "the ones who will stay will eventually come together", something like that. It's a shame really for me, Adrien is a massive player, he represented our ideals perfectly on the pitch. Would be amazing for you guys, more along a Drinkwater type of player I think. In all honesty, I really don´t know what will happen. I can´t see him stayng, not after this (bear in mind that he is THE captain, he should give an example to others) but at the same time I find it hard to believe that either you will pay up or that our presidents "concedes defeat". And in a way I understand the president : he is doing the best for the club, and, well, the player's decision to openly speak to a media ( in particular O Jogo- a Porto propanganda type kind of media) is just shocking in my eyes. In case you couldn't tell this guy was kind of my idol, and it really pains me to see him doing this. We´re kind of limiting his career perhaps, stopping him from receiving loads of money and having international success and recognition, but there were other ways to do this. I think it would be for the best to let him go, for all parties, however 35M euros at least, IMO that´s fair for him. PS: You guys, Leicester fans are absolutely awesome. Wish you all the best and likewise for yout club. Make it 2 championships lads!!
FireFox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 This Silva guy sounds like he is worth more than what we may or may not have offered. (But less than 45m Euro.)I don't understand why we would risk the Slim Shady transfer by possibly trying to unsettle their captain and thus pissing off the club with such an offer.
UPinCarolina Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 It's going to be an absolutely fascinating couple of days... High drama, all around the club. Hopefully LCFC and Sporting can come to some sort of mutual understanding that suits both parties.

Its a dog eat dog world and playing nice won't win you a thing. I hope we get the best deal possible for Leicester City, Sporting be damned. No offense Sporting fans, its just the way it works. Like a foreman told me on a manual labor job my dad me work in high school, Payday is on Thursday and shit rolls downhill.

Understood, but I'd still like Leicester to have a reputation as a club that you want to do business with. It's only going to help in the future. I can resent Kante but I cannot blame Chelsea for that move. Sporting can't blame us for moving in, and from the sounds of it - they wouldn't slag on Leicester if something came to pass.

Sleepy Fox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 not really forcing anything, just my opinion after watching the transfer business for long enough.
bpfox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 i think this will end the same way most of our other targets have. we will not get the player and we again have left it all to the very last minute. if we fail on both targets i think we can assume that we really had no interest in bringing anyone in at all, just smoking guns and bullshit. but gee we need this to go thru, really need a cm player and a class striker would be nice.
KFS Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Thanks for helping me sift through posts I don't want to read by starting with "Hey guys, Sporting fan here". It's really helping

I think it's clear the player wants to leave SCP because the salary will be much higher in England and the taxes are more favourable in the UK. The president of SCP is known for this king of negotiation techniques, he wants to keep the player so he will only sell it for the release clause of forty five million euros. I'm not sure LFC is ready to pay the release clause so I think the deal will very hard to do. Can I just say not being awkward but LFC is Liverpool. We're LCFC. Champions of England!
STUHILL Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 May have already been posted but here is the story pouring cold water on any move! http://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/sporting-cp-issue-adrien-silva-clarification-amid-leicester-links
GaelicFox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 All this sympathy and apologising crap i hope we sign both for as cheap as possible and they go onto be stars sporting ... Who cares , they are a selling club always have been always will be , all Portuguese football exits to sell to England and Spain ! To stop silva leaving is tantamount to slavery ! Soon the European Union is to outlaw thus type of behaviour look up FIFPro’s recent challenge to the international football transfer system !

Tielemans63 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Read through the last 3 pages this morning and thought we'd become a Sporting Portugal forum for a minute Welcome to RaposasConversa everybody.
ALC Fox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 I'd like to think we can get the deals for both Silva and Slimani over the line before the window shuts, but it's looking less likely. We've clearly been keeping tabs on a number of Sporting players. We've been tracking Slimani for a long time, we were interested in Carillo for some time before he eventually crossed Lisbon to join Benfica, and now we're in for this guy. The trouble is, the Carillo affair has shown us how difficult it can be to get a deal done with Sporting at the moment, and it seems they're willing to even sideline a player who wants to force a move. Also, that Sporting statement seems laden with emotion, which I doubt the Thais will appreciate. I'm not a businessman but I think that that much emotion in a business deal can't be a good thing. I wouldn't be surprised if both deals fell through now to be honest, but I'll remain forever optimistic.
weller54 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 At least the Sporting fans who have come on here to air their opinions seem a decent bunch! Arse and Spuds simpletons take note!

It would have been the perfect chance for their President to ratify what was also going on with him too, especially if he wasn't being allowed to leave also. I think we are probably very close to getting that deal done and have in the last few days tried to open up negotiations with Silva and we are probably going to fall well short of getting that deal done, considering what the President is saying and his past behaviour with things like this. Most likely thing to happen now, is Slimani will be done for around £25m and perhaps a last minute deal for a CM. Hopefully N'Zonzi but starting to think that is also a stretch now, so could be going after another target altogether. Certainly seems Claudio wants a CM though, which is good news!

I honestly don't think this is what has happened. We are not the kind of club to tap players up, I can't think of any other examples of us doing this. I said it before but I think we were given permission to talk to the player but then Silva himself has spoken out before the club's agreed a fee. Sporting then get the hump big time because they've lost control of how this transfer might be announced/ presented to their own fans. At that point they have no alternative really but try and save face and be seen to come out fighting and painting Leicester as the bad guys. Either that or the original permission to speak to Silva was granted without Sporting's coach knowing about it? One things for sure, Silva shouldn't have said anything until he was wearing a blue shirt. I think he's used that statement to try and force through a move but the result will be that the move is now in jeopardy.
brucey Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 It's likely his agent approached us without first speaking to the club. If we then speak to the agent without the club's knowledge, is this considered tapping up?
st albans fox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 If you assume that silva's words were delivered by his agent and that riyad's people spoke directly to the French media without giving permission to be quoted, how different is LCFC/silva to Arsenal/mahrez? perhaps silva's new contract was predicated on the fact that the club couldn't afford to pay him any more money as they weren't intending to make any sales other than slimani to keep things ticking over. Player accepted that based on his love and commitment to his only employer. Now he sees Joao Mario go for big money and decides he has been duped on his salary. This is his agents way of trying to get some more dosh. This only blew up after mario was sold last week. We we may have been 'played' here in public by silva's people to get their client a few more euros. Blimey - we really are big time now!
