I think number 1 is out because I very much doubt we would offer that much for him.  So it's either going to be 2 or 3.

 

Or 4 - Sporting decide they would be better off without an unhappy player and agree to let him come to us for less than the clause, after they find a replacement first.

 

Or 5 - We decide not to follow this up and move onto other targets.

Sorry, But I really think you are grasping at straws.  Seems like a deal for both are well in the works. Adrien's interview tells you he is going more than the speculation on Slimani. For the captain of the team to say what he did tells you it is done.  We all get the desperation to hang on and think they might stay or that your club extracts more money from us.  We wait and see to see what the real deal was, if we ever really find out.

Frankly I think we should do the decent thing and pay the asking price if we want this bloke.

 

If not, move on. That's how all transfers should be done. Trying to get the player to kick off and force the club's hand may be very common nowadays but it's disgraceful IMO.

Yep. And I hope it gets done tomorrow. Leicester being Leicester will get to Wednesday having been linked with these players, us fans tracking planes and helicopters all day, and at about 7 pm we'll announce Darren Fletcher on a season long loan :ph34r:

Gotta laugh at the double standards from a lot of people. So its fine if we take certain approaches for Slimani and Silva but when Chelsea and Kante take the same approach they are cvnts?

To be fair though, it is genuinely ok for us to do it but just not have it done to us so I can't see the issue.

I don't think people were saying that about Chelsea,can't blame them for wanting a world class player. It was Kante people were pissed off at.

Was going to say exactly the same. I don't remember anyone really criticising Chelsea?

 

Perhaps a better example would be when  we thought Arsenal were tapping up Vardy but we're not sure if it ever really happened.

 

I'm still not convinced we've done anything wrong though. I think it's the player who has jumped the gun and now everyone, and Sporting in particular, are trying to save face.

seems lisbons's attempt to put a lid on this and take things private was unsuccessful with silva's agents response. looks to be getting ugly between player and club which is unlikely to end well for us, given the timescale. was hoping the firm stance of the club would drive the negotiations away from the public gaze where they could be productive.

Chelsea just paid the release clause didn't they? We are trying every trick in the book not to, how is it the same approach?

So the Sporting fans react badly to the news. Sporting release a statement saying they want him to stay. Player wants to leave. Club looks good. Player looks bad. 

Not saying he is coming, but come on, this happens all the time!
