However, the fact that they now seem to be blocking the Slimani deal too makes me think that maybe we'll be turning our attentions elsewhere pretty soon as we'll be wasting our time negotiating with Sporting. Yeah it's call my bluff time - no doubt but Mr President has to blink first at some point and negotiate as they need the money.
Koke Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Adrien would double his wages here. He's 27 and at the peak of his career. I honestly think he will force the move. Portuguese clubs are difficult to negotiate with. Ask Chelsea. They will tell you Porto and Benfica are a pain in the ass.
SheppyFox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 I think we are willing to spend big, so **** sporting and their president and let's get Nzonzi and Sturridge instead
Collymore Posted 30 August 2016 Author Posted 30 August 2016 If they are going to be difficult with it all, it kind of makes it easier to walk away. If we end up signing no one then so be it. We shouldn't be held to ransom by anyone.

No club is under any obligation to sell their best players to us - especially so late in the transfer window, when it would be virtually impossible to replace them. I want this deal to go through as much as anybody else, but let's be honest - if a club came in for Vardy and Mahrez yesterday, we'd expect the board to do everything they can to prevent it from happening.
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Just scupper the deal can image his helicopter, turning arond from Brum and on it's way to Leicester live on Sky Sports.Camacho that is.
SportingCP Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Good morning lads, im a Sporting fan. Adrien is absolutly irreplaceble in our team. Hes our captain, and he is by far the best player in our league, and one of the top players in our National team. Even tho Adrien might want to play in the Prem, Sporting will Never sell him for sell than his release clause, as we just Sold João Mario and probably Slimani. We are the club in our league with the best finacial situation in Portugal right now. Unlike Benfica and Porto, Sporting get to keep their best players unless clubs offer crazy amounts of money like Inter did with João Mario. We just bought Bas Dost, Castaignos and a few other strikers, so its pretty clear that Slimani will join you or some other club, no doubt about that, but Adrien will stay, that is clear.

Said this on Slimani post, we'll get Slimani in the end as thev'e got their replacements in.As for Silva either pay the release clause or get in quick and activate Camacho clause before he signs for WBA..

Fair enough - you are probably right. It is going to be awkward though if your Captain has publicly said he wants to go and that your President has gone back on his word to him......

No, Ranieri prefers resorting to murder http://www.standard.co.uk/sport/football/ill-kill-arsenal-target-riyad-mahrez-if-he-asks-to-leave-leicester-city-says-claudio-ranieri-a3318311.html
ClaphamFox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 7 minutes ago, Collymore said: I honestly think if the players came out and wanted to go Ranieri would frog march them out of the building himself... I disagree. During the whole Mahrez saga, Ranieri was reminded in a press conference that he'd previously said he wouldn't stop an unhappy player from leaving. He replied, "sometimes what a manager says and what he does are very different things" - or words to that effect. Which I took to mean: Mahrez stays whether he wants to or not. The comments of the chairman would also back that up. There is no way we'd allow Vardy and Mahrez to leave at this stage in the window, irrespective of whether they wanted to or not.

I think you can put money on both coming. Silva has made it impossible to stay with his interview. Slimani made it clear with his departure from the pitch that was his last game for Sporting. All this other stuff is just face saving from the Sporting chairman and press pushing anything and everything. Expect both deals before the deadline and the players after the arriving after their international duties.

Will the financial situation of Sporting still be okay if Slimani is not sold and with the additional wages/transfer fees you paid for the replacements?
foxinsox Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 Just now, Collymore said: It's a football forum mate not an ethics convention. Yeah but looting Sporting of its two main players is fairly sharklike behaviour. On the other hand all is fair in love, war and football transfers...
VIKTOR-LE5 Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 I bet the deals are done, but Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha being a top man is letting SCP owner save face like he tried his best to keep Silva and get a better fee for Slimani am sure business works like this at times.
Steven Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 10 hours ago, Livid said: There have obviously been negotiations. Silva has been at the club 15 years and obviously feels he has paid his dues. He wants to leave. If Sporting are being serious with this statement (and I doubt they are) and if his release clause is €45 million and they refuse to move then IMO that is too much. We should walk away and leave them with one unhappy Captain. They can pick up the pieces. We look elsewhere. I just don't think we're that desperate to be held to ransom. We hadn't even considered Silva 48 hours ago. They're the ones under financial pressure, were the champions of Europe's richest league with a shed load of cash. Sure we can afford it but I wouldn't pay over the going rate for any player. This.
ian_marshall Posted 30 August 2016 Posted 30 August 2016 It's quite apparent that there's only two options for Sporting now. Sell the player and seek a replacement, or keep him but on increased terms to avoid having an unhappy influential member of the squad. Quick few question for the Sporting fans: How likely are you to offer him a new deal on terms of €100k plus per week? Also, how are image rights distributed in Portugal, are these held by the player (like the Premier League), or are they held by the club/league?
