He'll have to score a thumping header against Leeds in the closing stages of the game to make it to that level. But he's close.

Apparently Slimani was second in terms of sprints at the weekend behind Man City's Iheanacho. If he matches Shinji's industry and adds aerial presence and goal threat he will be a fantastic signing. MC Prussian Posted 19 September 2016 Author Share Posted 19 September 2016 He fits in nicely because of his work rates. He's active off and on the ball, tirelessly tracking back to help out in midfield or even defense and to regain possession of the ball. He's also rather selfless insofar as that he has the eye for a wide-open team mate better positioned than himself or the his fellow Leicester players around him. He'll never be the most skillful of players and may come across as a brute, but he's all about making the people around him look as good as himself and offers that extra punch up front. And that's just what we needed.

Guest Posted 19 September 2016 Share Posted 19 September 2016 That bit of skill where he brings the high ball down, holds and flicks it to the next player seemingly without it touching the floor

Also he made a lot of what we call in french "Serie de vitesse" those instant accelerations and anybody who play football knows how tiring those can be when you do them repeatedly, and Slimani was playing for 90min. Must say it's his typical work rate and I always saw him playing like that.
foxile5 Posted 19 September 2016 Share Posted 19 September 2016 An impressive facet of his game was demanding the ball. There is something to be said about a player that insists on having the ball played to him, it shows a degree of confidence in ability. Compare that with some of our 'hidden' strikers of the past. Beckford. De Vries. Even Okazaki to a degree. The man wants the ball and that's an excellent attribute to have. I agree with the posters suggesting he is doing everything Okazaki should have but, that being said, Shinji still has a massive role to play in this team. Whisper it, but we might have actually have a signed a decent player for a record.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 19 September 2016 Share Posted 19 September 2016 From the reaction of Drinky and Simpson in the press, I think its fair to say that the rest of the players are mighty impressed, not just the fans.

ARM1968 Posted 20 September 2016 Share Posted 20 September 2016 Not sure he's a brute in the same way that Duncan Ferguson was a brute. He seems more cultured with a better touch than a lot of the real brutes I can think of. He does seem like a throwback though. Good in the air and good on the ground. Speeds up play as others have said and stays on his feet. Good debut and hopefully a springboard towards 20 goals. Just need Vardy back to his electric best now. Finnegan Posted 20 September 2016 Share Posted 20 September 2016 Comparing him to any old school target man is a bit unfair. He looks like quite a modern forward so far, fairly mobile, strong, good touch, good in the air, good brain. He's not exactly a mindless wrecking ball.
